Back in September I received a brow gel sample from Benefit Cosmetics. It was part of an online promotion where Topbox subscribers could sign up to receive a sample for free while supplies lasted. Naturally I jumped at the chance to try out a free brow product! I received a teeny tiny sample of the Benefit Cosmetics Gimme Brow gel.
At A Glance
“Our cult-favorite gimme brow tinted eyebrow gel contains tiny microfibers that adhere to skin & hairs, creating natural-looking fullness and definition. The custom, tiny tapered brush blends easily while the precision tip shapes hairs into place”
Gimme Brow is not currently available at Benefit Cosmetics but the website states that the product is “coming back soon”. The full size is 0.1 oz and will retail at Benefit Cosmetics for $32USD. The product claims to volumize and tame thin, sparse brows while being water resistant and long wearing. Gimme Brow comes in three shades: Light, Medium & Dark. I don’t actually know what shade I got, I think it’s medium but the sample didn’t say.
The sample that I’m reviewing is incredibly tiny at 0.03 oz. The full size of Gimme brow is three times larger than this mini so I’m not going to judge the sample too hard for being small. The brow gel comes in a silvery grey tube with a long, pointed diamond shaped lid. The wand is stiff and has a spoolie on the end. The spoolie tapers into a triangular shape. Unlike Essence’s Make Me Brow (which is a dupe for Gimme Brow) the spoolie isn’t scratchy at all.
What I Like
- Small Spoolie. I wish the wand was a little longer, but I actually like having a little spoolie. It makes it easier for me to shape the arches of my brows.
- Spoolie is firm but not scratchy
- Long Lasting
What I don’t Like
- Doesn’t have strong hold It doesn’t tame thicker brows like mine very well.
- Only three shades available. I like seeing more shades available for different hair colours. I would prefer a brown with a red undertone.
- Expensive $32USD for a brow gel!? Essence’s dupe is $3.99!
I like how Gimme Brow fills in my brows and sets them in place for the most part. The thickest part of my brows has a tendency to fan out, so if I haven’t gotten my eyebrows shaped at a salon in a while gimme brow doesn’t help very much with that. This product is meant for more sparse brows, so if that’s you it shouldn’t be a problem. Personally I wouldn’t purchase this product full size because it’s quite expensive. $32 is a lot for me to spend on one product when there are dupes available.
What’s your favourite brow product?
