I can’t even tell you guys how long I’ve been wanting to try out the Fresh Sugar Lip Treatments. The problem was they’re so expensive that I couldn’t justify paying full price for them. For Christmas I received the Fresh Sugar Lip Prep ‘N’ Paint set which includes two lip treatments as well as some other products I hadn’t tried before. Thank you so much to my family for the wonderful gift! Onto the review…
At A Glance
The Fresh Sugar Lip Prep N Paint set is sold at Sephora for $47CAD. It contains a Fresh Sugar Lip Polish, Lip Serum, two Sugar Lip Treatments and a Sugar Lip Cream Treatment. All are deluxe sample sizes.
The packaging for this set is so cute! It looks like it was designed with Valentines Day in mind despite the fact that it’s been around for a while and was bought in December. I wanted this set for the products, not so much the little pencils and roll up colouring paper that are also included. The packaging gets a 10/10 from me!
Fresh Sugar Lip Serum Advanced Therapy 0.16oz $24.54
The problem with serum samples is that they are often too small to tell if they make a difference in my skin. This serum however is a great size for sampling purposes. It’s just over half of the full size product! I only need a tiny amount to coat my entire lips and it absorbs incredibly fast. My lips are usually dry and I’ve had a few cold sores since December (my body doesn’t want to not be sick) but when my lips are “normal” I find it helps alleviate dryness in conjunction with other products. I wouldn’t use it on it’s own, and I probably won’t run out and buy it full size but I would use it again if I got it in a value set.
Fresh Sugar Lip Polish 0.28oz $13.53
This lip scrub is just under half of the full size product. I recently tried out the Bite Beauty Agave Kisses Set which contained a sugar scrub, and I prefer this Fresh scrub more. Not because the agave scrub is bad, but because this one has a little bit more grit to it. I find the Bite Beauty scrub granules tend to disappear in the moisturizing suspension that it’s in (if that makes any sense). This lip polish does more of what a scrub should do and is less messy because I’m not slathering the product all over to get to the granules. It also doesn’t taste bad like the Bite scrub!
Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment in Rosé 0.07oz $13.53
This product and the next are what I was the most excited to try. They didn’t disappoint! Both are around half the full size. I’m hesitant to use them because they’re so expensive but they really do glide on easily and the formula seems to melt into my lips. This lip treatment contains grapeseed oil and vitamins C & E. I really don’t notice a difference in colour on my lips between the sheer Rosé and the lip treatment below. The packaging took me a few minutes to figure out, the cap screws on and off instead of popping off like a normal lip balm. Fancy!
Fresh Sugar Advanced Therapy Lip Treatment 0.07oz $14.93
I was convinced at first that this product was the same as the one above. With further research I learned that it’s actually more of a targeted lip therapy product. They apply and feel the same to me, but this is supposed to help target lip wrinkles and dryness with the help of sea fennel (also known as Crithmum). I couldn’t find a lot of info on the plant in terms of skincare properties but I learned that it contains vitamins A, C, and E and is often used in acne fighting and anti-aging skincare. Fresh Sugar Cream Lip Treatment 0.16 oz $14.06
I was worried that this would be a lip “butter”, which in my experiences don’t work well for me. I was pleasantly surprised to discover that it has the consistency of a gel/cream lip balm and has a shiny, almost metallic sheen to it. I’m not sure if this really “treats” my lips, but it feels moisturizing and looks pretty when worn!
This set totalled up to $80.59CAD not including the pencils and random colouring paper. Sephora claims an $82 value, which is probably accurate adding those in. I find you really need to total up the values yourself because sometimes they are waaay off from Sephora’s estimations! I’m happy with an $80 value though. If I had paid for the set instead of receiving it for Christmas I would still be happy with it. I’ve been loving trying out these Fresh products!
