Hey lovely, welcome back to my blog! It’s been a while since I posted a Makeup Look or Makeup of the Day post so I created this soft “no makeup look” to share with you guys. I had a bit of a hard time with the lighting. It was a sunny day, but no matter what I did my photos weren’t clear. Finally I resorted to snapping a few selfies in my car which is why there’s a bit of a sunbeam filter effect going on. Car lighting makes every photo a good photo! If you have any tips on makeup lighting please comment below!
No Makeup-Makeup requires a lot more products than you might think! There is a difference between wearing no makeup and using makeup to create the illusion of fantastic skin and naturally contoured features. There are a lot of times that I won’t wear any makeup, for example when I am running errands or hanging out with friends, but for work I always like to go the extra mile so that I feel like my most confident self. This is a look I like to wear to work when I don’t want to look “made up”.
Shadow I began by priming my Eyes with Urban Decay Primer Potion. Next I went in with a nude/grey shade from a little Revlon ColorStay Palette I have had for a few years. I packed it onto my lid, and then took a crease brush and applied The Balm’s Bahama Mama in the crease. It’s technically a bronzer, but the sample size pan is itty bitty so it really only functions as an eyeshadow.
Line Next I went and tight lined with a black Eye Definer pencil from The Body Shop. I used a very light hand, I didn’t want the eyeliner to be obvious but I wanted a tiny bit of definition.
Mascara I curled my eyelashes and then applied two coats of Benefit Cosmetics They’re Real Tinted Lash Primer. I’ve only recently started experimenting with this primer and I’ve found I prefer it on it’s own as opposed to under mascara. It’s a brown shade so it looks more natural on me than a black mascara.
Eyebrows Using a spoolie brush I lightly brushed the pomade from e.l.f.’s eyebrow kit through my eyebrows.
Lipstick On my lips I applied Elizabeth Mott’s Color Is Bae Lipstick in Moxie Mauve. It’s pink but isn’t too obvious.
Primer I used a one use sample of the Hourglass Ambient Light Correcting Primer. I’ve got to say… I really don’t like it. Firstly, I found the shade mood light to be waaaay to pink for my skin. Second, I didn’t like the way it applied at all. It didn’t spread well, and dried in a rough cakey layer even though I applied it in a thin layer. Third, It didn’t go well with my foundation or blending sponge. When I used my wet beauty sponge the primer pilled.
Foundation For foundation I used Dr. G BB Cream. If you are palest shade of foundation pale like me with neutral undertones this shade is perfect. For everyone else, I’m sorry, it only comes in one shade! I applied it all over my face & neck with a stippling brush and then blended it out with a sponge.
Bronzer & Blush I contoured my cheeks, my forehead and jawline with Arbonne Bronzer. It didn’t have a fancy name when I bought it, maybe it does now. I always tap out my brush before I apply so I can control the amount of product that goes on. Next I swept a tiny bit of e.l.f. Baked Blush in Peachy Keen across the apples of my cheeks.
Highlight I was so excited to try out my new Becca Liquid Highlight in Opal for the first time. The liquid highlight looks so much more natural on me than the pressed powder highlight (though I love them both). I applied it along the bridge of my nose and my cheek bones. It’s so gorgeous and glowy!
