I got this palette for Christmas, and it’s taken me almost a month to write about it! I almost wasn’t sure what it was at first because of the packaging design. The outer case actually slides open on both sides to reveal the shadows inside, See?
I’ve been using this one on and off since the holidays. It was a holiday release for I think around $15-$20, but don’t quote me on that since I am not the one who purchased it.
The colors contained in this palette are:
Chantilly Lace, Marron Glace, Crystal Ball, Midnight Swim, Soft Cookie, Toasted Almond, Pretty Sunrise, and Hot Cocoa
As you can see, I’ve used this palette a little bit so the pots aren’t smooth anymore. One thing I would like to point out, which disappointed me was that this palette does not work with a wet brush. I’ve used Sephora palettes and eye shadows before and I haven’t had a problem with using them wet, but for some reason this just does not work.
You can see the streaks in Marron Glace (I don’t know how to make the accent symbol over the E on my keyboard..) and Midnight Swim where I attempted to do so, and the water just streaked the pots and since it dried it won’t go on the brush as easily anymore.
The dark shades really can’t be used as an eyeliner, which is what I’ve started doing lately. They just aren’t pigmented enough. Oh well. When applied dry the matte shades do blend alright, but they fade fairly quickly even with a primer.
I was happy to see some silver and golden tones. If I’m going out for a few hours in the evening they last long enough, but they are a little bit of a pain to apply because I really need to cake them on to make them show up.
Favorite shade: Pretty Sunrise.
Least Favorite Shade: Midnight Swim
All in all this is a cute palette and I will get some use of it, but it won’t be an immediate go to for my everyday makeup.
What’s your favorite eye palette??
