Hello my loves,
In today’s post I’m sharing my thoughts and early impressions of the new Julep Love Your Bare Face Detoxifying Cleansing Balm Stick. I was introduced to Julep nail polish back in December, and have obsessively been stalking their website and monthly subscription box offers ever since (no shame). This is one of the items I chose for my box this month and I’ve been using it daily since it arrived last Monday.
What: A cleansing balm which is made up of rice bran, grapefruit peel, and camellia seed oils and also pomegranate enzymes. It is meant to remove impurities while also exfoliating. Supposedly it evens skin tone, clarifies, exfoliates, and cleanses.
I was intrigued by this product from the moment I saw it featured. Most of my face washes have been in gel form, with the exception of one cream cleanser, but I was really excited to give this a try.
This product is so pretty! The writing is silver and shines based on where the light is hitting it (though it’s hard to tell from the picture), and the container seems to gleam. The cap screws on and the bottom twists like a lip balm to extract the product. This is going to be convenient for travel or camping since it won’t spill in my bag and is easy to use.
How It Holds Up
I found after one use that the balm can be fairly drying, however just about anything dries my skin. If I apply a moisturizer right away it gets rid of the dry spots, so it’s not really a problem for me. This cleanser removes oil and dirt without completely stripping down my skin as other “deep cleaning” cleansers do. I was expecting to find harsh granules in it since it claims to exfoliate, but I didn’t find it to be grainy or coarse at all!
I was expecting a fruity smell because of the pomegranate and grapefruit, but it really just smelled like.. soap! It’s a mild soapy smell, so I can put up with it.
I think I really just like the novelty of having a cleanser that applies like a lip balm. I can’t get over how neat the idea is. (Is that weird?) I like that you can apply it straight to your face without lathering it first, it saves me a bit of time in the mornings since I can just swipe it across my face and remove with a damp facecloth.
If you have oilier skin this would probably be a good product to try. I’ll definitely be using this up but it’s not a game changer for me. I would consider putting this in a maven box again, but I don’t think I would ever go out of my way to pay $28 for it full price, it’s not worth that much in my opinion.
Have you tried the Love Your Bare Face cleansing balm?? What did you think??
Let me know!
