Modcloth Stylish Surprise Fashion Haul

A few times each year Modcloth, an online vintage clothing retailer, offers a “stylish surprise”. I’m a sub box fanatic and I’ve been wanting to try out this mystery bag for a while. When it went on sale in August I snapped up three mystery items. Lets dive in.

Whisker Sweet Nothings Top $11.99 (regularly $24.99)
This wasn’t part of the stylish surprise, but it’s too cute not to share! This Rise + Fall cat tank went on sale for $11.99 so I couldn’t say no. I have no will power, what can I say? This is a cotton poly blend and is the purrr-fect tank for a cat lady like me.

Nanette Lepore Scarlet D’Orsay Heels in Dusty Pink –Β Mystery Shoes – $10
I was hoping for boots to be honest but these are cute! The only problem is that the size 6.5 is much too big for my feet. I find that bizarre as I can often fit a size 7 but these are still a half size too big. This pair can be found at Nordstrom Rack and Amazon for $89, but they can also be found on sale anywhere from $22 – $50 depending on where you look. I gave these to my Mom, she was thrilled with them.

Blu Pepper Top –Β Mystery Top – $15

I think I would like this top a lot more if the material wasn’t so thin. I need another layer underneath if it’s to be worn out anywhere, and I’d rather layer over a top than under it. Does that make sense? I’m still not sure what I’m going to do with this one.

Fun 2 Fun Top

This top is billowy like a maternity top and the pleats start high on the chest so if you have a fuller chest this will accentuate in all the wrong ways. I’ve been wearing this with a chunky infinity scarf and cardigan sweater to tone down the look of the pleats. I still feel like I’m drowning in material.

Final Thoughts

I’m disappointed in my Stylish Surprise. The only thing I really liked was the shoes and they don’t fit! I guess I’ll take this as a reminder to spend my money a bit more wisely and pick out sale items I like for the same price next time!

      1. My ears are pierced but one earring hole is in the wrong spot – right on top of a nerve! So I can rarely wear earrings without pain! Otherwise I’d snap them up too haha!

    1. I’ll need to try that out, maybe I have a blue cami somewhere that will go with the stitching? haha it’s not a style I normally wear so I feel lost. Everything was a mystery item except for the cat top which I ordered separately, I think they do it to clear out stock when they get new stuff in. I love ordering from Modcloth but this is my first Stylish Surprise and I felt really underwhelmed!

  1. Well, the kitty shirt is at least a hit! It’s super cute. I wouldn’t have been happy with the surprise stuff either, though. But I’m picky with clothes haha. Do you think you’d try it again or did this experience put you off of it?

    1. It’s unfortunately the only thing I was thrilled with but I kind of expected that going in. I don’t think I will order a stylish surprise again, they always have a giant sale section so next time I’ll just pick out things I actually like from there!

    1. This is my first time ordering the surprise, I love modcloth but I’ve found the mystery apparel can be pretty hit and miss. They’ve added some great new things on the website recently, Ill need to place an order soon ☺ Thanks for reading!! πŸ’•
