Well, another year has passed us by. I feel my youth slipping away slightly… My little brother only has a year and a half left of high school, my husband successfully completed his career change, Christmas is over, and I’m officially in my mid twenties now. Gah. Blogging has really helped me appreciate the change in the seasons. In today’s blog post I’m recapping my TOP favourites from last year!
In winter I was still posting monthly favourites fairly often. Half way through the year I switched to seasonal favourites because I found it hard to come up with “new” favourites each month, and with a seasonal post I felt more free to talk about old discoveries as well as new.
Lemon & Cream hand cream by Delectable – This was a favourite last February and I’m still loving it today. It takes me a long time to use up hand cream but I’m okay with it because I want this bottle to last forever.
Becca Liquid Highlighter in Opal – I picked up the Glow On The Go set from Sephora last winter and I was so glad I did! I loved how the liquid highlight especially applied and blended into my skin. I have since finished the bottle but I’m still loving the powdered version of Opal.
Neutrogena Hydro Boost Gel Cream for Extra Dry Skin – Last year I discovered my new Holy Grail moisturizer. I can’t wait to repurchase this! Reviewed Here.
I only wrote one favourites post in the Spring and that was back in May. I was trying not to make too many purchases because I was saving for Peru so most of my new products came from Ipsy.
Luxie 522 Dreamcatcher Tapered Highlighter Brush
It’s funny, Ipsy has this available as a points reward right now and this brush is now called a highlighter brush. When I originally got it in my subscription it was called a foundation brush. I have used it for both and while it’s ok as a foundation brush it works much better for highlight and setting your under eyes with powder. I still love it and use it every day!
Clinique Almost Lipstick in Black Honey – I really like this lipstick! It’s great for minimal makeup days as the finish is sheer. Reviewed HERE.
Assassin’s Fate by Robin Hobb – This isn’t pictured in the photo but it was featured in my May favourites. Assassin’s Fate is the final instalment in my favourite book series, Robin Hobb’s Realm of the Elderlings. This book was a like a love letter to all other books in the series, complete with character crossovers that tied up loose ends and new posed questions. I was a wreck when I read the last sentence in the book, I was so emotional because I just couldn’t bear to say goodbye to all my favourite characters.
In the Summer I rediscovered some products I hadn’t used in a while. I think there’s a lot of pressure as a beauty blogger to be constantly churning out new products so it’s easy to forget to enjoy ones you already have.
Too Faced Chocolate Bon Bons Palette – I started using this a lot again in Summer as well as this past December. The eyeshadows are so buttery and pigmented and there’s a lot you can do with this palette from a natural day time look to a darker smokey eye. The pops of pink are really lovely too!
S’ip by S’well Water Bottle – I LOVE these water bottles! The original S’well design is quite expensive so I opted for this bottle instead. The design is more triangular than the original but the construction is the same. It keeps my water cold, not cool, for hours.
Tarte Rainforest Of The Sea Marine Mist – This primer/setting spray is amazing for dry skin. It gives me such a beautiful dewy finish. I was sad when my sample ran out because it’s expensive to buy full sized. Reviewed Here.
This was my most recent favourites post and I’m still loving a lot of the products I featured in that 2017 Fall Favourites blog. Two products especially still stand out to me. Unrelated, how cute are those beige leather gloves my husband got me for Christmas!?
MUFE Ultra HD Foundation –This foundation is my go to when I have a party or event to attend and I want to look flawless. It blends well into my skin and my blush, bronzer & highlight products blend easily over top of it. Reviewed Here.
Kylie Cosmetics Matte Lip Kit – I received this lip kit in Dolce K from a giveaway. This lipstick is drying but it lasts ALL day! The browny-nude shade was perfect for fall and I’m still using it in the winter. Reviewed Here.
