Julep Green Tea Konjac Facial Sponge Review/Thoughts

Hello beauties! In my December Julep Maven box I added on a Konjac sponge. I’ve wanted to try these facial sponges since Julep came out with the green tea version. There is so much hype about them and I just had to give it a go!

Here it is after hanging to dry. Ion had to get his paw in here!

Packaging: The sponge came sealed in a clear little bag with a suction cup hook and string to hang it from your mirror. Pretty neat, I never know where to put cleansing sponges to dry. I didn’t realize that the sponge & inside of the bag would be damp! I noticed afterwards that the back of the package warns the sponge will be wet when It arrives.

Texture: The sponge is porous and unlike anything I have ever used to wash my face with! My TBS “soft” facial sponge scrubs your face rather hard even when pressing lightly so I’ve been using it once or twice a week max. The texture of this konjac sponge somehow exfoliates while being so gentle I can use it every single day without rubbing my face raw.

Use: It takes a minute or two to hydrate the sponge back to life once it dries. It works best to soak it for a minute before use because once it’s dry it’s like a rock. I didn’t really notice the “balancing” effect Julep claims comes from the green tea powder and I imagine the green tea gets washed out anyways. Although Julep’s website says to use it with their Love Your Bare Face Cleansing Balm (review here) for best results, you can use it with any cleanser you like. I prefer to use a gentle cleanser or cleansing oil.

Here it is Rehydrated! Such a difference!

Final Thoughts: If you struggle with over exfoliating your face I recommend this sponge, it’s only $12US (less if you are a Maven subscriber)! Even if I’m skeptical about the green tea it leaves my face fresh and clean without that raw over scrubbed feeling. Keep in mind that it needs to be replaced every 1-2 months (depending on frequency of use) or else it will get icky.

Have you tried Julep’s Konjac sponges, and if not what do you use as a face cleanser? As always, thanks for reading!
