Lime Crime Metallic Velvetines Liquid Lipstick Review

Last week I shared my January Ipsy Glam Bag, and today I’m taking a look at the Lime Crime Metallic Velvetine that came with it. I’ve wanted to try lime crime since I started my blog last January so I’m really excited review this “liquid metal” finish lipstick!

This baby cost 350 Ipsy points. There was a mixup and Ipsy sent an email explaining that I would receive it in a different shade than I had ordered (Lana) and they were refunding my spent points with an additional 75 for the inconvenience. I was like, cool, it’s great that they are putting it right! But when it arrived it WAS the shade Lana. I’m confused as to what happened there, but I essentially got it as a freebie. I’m not complaining!

Packaging I freakin’ love the cardboard packaging for lime crime! The red box is decorated with roses and the brand name is in handwriting. The lipstick lid has the same rose design and the bottle looks like frosted glass. It’s so stylish! The frosted bottle makes it a difficult to judge the shade just from looking at it, but it’s not an issue because Lime Crime has an accurate lip swatch on their website. The Lipstick has a deer foot applicator but it’s a bit more rounded than I’m used to.

Pigmentation & Transferability Holy moly is this pigmented. It dries down to a “liquid metal” finish, and the shade itself is described as “Burnished Bronze”. One coat and you are opaque and ready to go do whatever it is you do when you have metallic lips! You can check out my swatches below! This dries quickly and doesn’t transfer.

I feel awkward taking closeups of my lips. Something about it seems weird to me. But here you go!

Wear Time I saved this for my day off because I’m not brave enough to wear it to work. It lasted 3-4 hours before I needed a reapplication, and that was only because I was eating messy vegetarian butter chicken for lunch. After reapplying it lasted until dinner (which was a veggie burger, surprise surprise it didn’t last!).

Final Thoughts I like this lipstick even if it’s a bit out of my comfort zone. I’m interested in trying the Lime Crime Matte Velvetines now! This Ipsy points redemption was a win for me, it’s fun to try something completely different from my usual look!

  1. I usually just wear metallic lips for very dramatic “Instagram” makeup looks but for everyday I just slap on a nude. I can’t believe you got this with your Ipsy points! I am so jealous! I have yet to try out Lime Crime.

    1. Yeah, metallic is much better for Instagram than everyday! I work part time but I pick up a ton of hours and I pretty much live at my workplace so I prefer to wear a nude shade for everyday as well. I was surprised that they offered lime crime and full size at that! Such a good deal ☺
