Skyn Iceland Icelandic Relief Eye Cream Review

Back in February the Skyn Iceland Icelandic Relief Eye Cream popped up as an Ipsy reward. I had been debating purchasing it anyways and it retails for $49 CAD, so it was really awesome that I could snag it for 600 points! I’ve been using it twice daily for about two months now, so it’s time to share my thoughts… Is it worth the $49?

Product Claims

Skyn Iceland Icelandic Relief claims to reduce puffiness, dark circles, fine lines, and provide a cooling effect. It does not contain parabens, pthalates, sulfates, triclosan, or synthetic fragrances or dyes. According to Skin Iceland it contains Saponaria, a plant that supposedly survived the ice age. I couldn’t find very much information on the plant.

Packaging This came in a larger box than I expected for an eye cream so I was surprised when I pulled out this tiny little glass pot. Why is the box so big!? The pot itself is small, but I really only needed a small dab of product for each eye.

Texture & Hydration I was surprised by the texture of the cream. It’s so weird, I was expecting an actual cream, but it has more of a whipped texture. It’s closer to solid than liquid. While this product did initially moisturize my under eye area, the effect was short lived. It absorbed quickly but left my skin feeling dry again a few hours later. I didn’t experience the advertised cooling effect, so it wasn’t nearly as refreshing to use as I had expected.

Reduction of puffiness, Dark Circles, & Fine Lines While this eye cream it does an okay job of moisturizing and priming the under eye area, I noticed zero reduction of dark circles, puffiness or fine lines. To be fair, I don’t have much puffiness under my eyes on a regular day and I have been sleeping pretty well lately. I was still hoping at least for a reduction of dark circles as well as an improvement to the texture under my eyes, but it was not meant to be.

Final Thoughts

I do not recommend this eye cream to anyone looking for something new to try. It’s only mediocre. $49 is a lot to spend on a product that doesn’t deliver results other than mild hydration. I wanted to love this so much, but wanting to love something isn’t enough. I’ll definitely use up the whole jar, but I can’t justify purchasing this a second time. If you are still curious about trying this I highly recommend buying the smaller size in pen form first!

    1. I had such high hopes for this product but I noticed absolutely no difference in my skin from using it! I looked over the sephora reviews and it seems that most people loved it. Maybe it’s just not for me, it seems that you either love it or hate it.

    1. Thanks for reading! I’m always hesitant to post reviews that lean towards negative, I never want to outright bash a brand or product. I just wish this one had given me visible results for the price.
