Dissappointing Product : Cailyn Cosmetics Liquid Lipstick

A few months ago, before I put my Ipsy subscription on hold, I received the Cailyn Cosmetics PureLust Extreme Matte Tint + Velvet liquid lipstick in my glam bag. I was excited to be receiving a full sized liquid lipstick, but it turned out that I set the bar too high on my expectations.

This is a $19 lipstick, so I expected above the average quality you would get with a drugstore product. The product claims to dry down to a “smoother than silk, non-drying finish.” It is also marketed as water and kiss proof.

It dries down matte, but the formula feels horrible on my lips! It’s thick and feels tacky once it dries. It did not feel non-drying to me at all, even with a lip balm underneath! This lipstick may be water & kiss proof, but what it doesn’t tell you is that it’s also micellar water and makeup remover proof! I had to use three times the amount of makeup remover I normally would use to remove my lipstick. even then, remnants of the lipstick would cling around my mouth refusing to be washed away.

Here’s my swatch taken in natural light. Even after applying a couple of coats it was uneven and patchy, and looked even worse on my lips.

This is my swatch after vigorously swabbing with a cotton ball soaked in makeup remover. It’s hardly even budged!! I like my lipsticks long lasting, but not unremovable. I normally won’t toss out a lip product after only a couple of uses, but I just can’t see myself reaching for this!

Have you tried Cailyn Cosmetics? Thanks for reading everyone, have yourselves a wonderful summer weekend! Please give Always Cleia a like and a follow if you enjoyed this post, and remember to follow on Instagram! Comment you came from my blog and I’ll follow you back ❤
