Fall 2017 Favourites

2017 Fall favourites

Hello and welcome back for my Fall 2017 Favourites! I know it’s still November and Fall isn’t technically over until mid December, but in Alberta we joke that we have six months of winter and two months everything else. Fall ended the minute we got off the plane from Peru in shorts and capris and there was snow on the ground. BRRRRR!

Makeup

Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Foundation
I reviewed this foundation here so I won’t go into a lot of detail, but Ultra HD works incredibly well for me. It’s light to medium coverage depending on how you blend it out and it never looks cakey on my skin. I also really like how my powder blushes and bronzers blend on top of it! Check my review for swatches and my foundation before & after.

Kylie Cosmetics Lip Kit in Dolce K

Kylie Cosmetics Lip Kit in Dolce K
I reviewed this product here. This Matte lip kit has been my go to lip product for about two months now. I had to force myself to stop using it and switch up my look every once a while because I wore it so much! It’s long lasting, pigmented, and the perfect shade for Autumn.

Sephora Beauty Insider Tarte Birthday Gift

I picked up my Sephora Birthday Gift in early November. The gift contained a Tarte Amazonian Blush in the shade Paaarty as well as a Tarte Creamy Matte Lip Paint in the shade Birthday Suit. The blush is beautiful to look at as well as to apply. It gives me a perfect wintery flush and is long lasting. The Tarte Lip Paint smells like peppermint to me and is more hydrating that I expected for a liquid lipstick.

Skincare

GlamGlow DreamDuo

I purchased the Sephora Favourites Beauty Sleep Set in October and fell in love with the Glam Glow DreamDuo samples included. Unfortunately the full size costs $69CAD. Now I remember why I don’t try things that are out of my budget, because I can’t stop thinking about buying them…

GlamGlow DreamDuo contains a serum and a moisturizing “sealer” to go on top. The serum is a pearlescent white cream that applies easily with no tugging and absorbs quickly. It smells amazing! The sealer is a boring grey colour but it smells just as good as the serum. It’s much thicker than the serum to I have to work it into the skin. My skin feels so hydrated when I use this combo!

FabFitFun Deco Miami Cuticle Oil

Nail & Hair Care

Deco Miami Cuticle Oil

This came in the 2017 Fall FabFitFun box and I cannot get enough of it. I’m normally not a fan of Lavender, but the scent is so subtle that I don’t mind. I feel like I’m getting a salon experience at home when I use this.

FabFitFun dpHUE ACV Rinse

dpHUE ACV Rinse
I got highlights in my hair back in September and have been on a quest to preserve my hair colour ever since. I chose the dpHUE Apple Cider Vinegar rinse as my beauty boost option in the 2017 Fall FFF box and I’ve been using it weekly ever since (besides when I was in Peru). It’s colour safe and cleans my hair while conditioning it with essential oils. I’ve noticed that I can now go longer between shampoos since I started using it! I’ve been told that I can use regular apple cider vinegar and get the same results, so I’m going to put that to the test and compare the two.

Computer Games

Cat Quest for PC
Oh my gosh guys. If any of you are cat people AND gamers, this Steam game will be right up your alley. I told my husband about it and he stared at me like I was a lunatic, but then I told another girl at my work who loves cats about this and she immediately went and bought it! So I’m not crazy. This game is ADORABLE, and fun! You play as a cat who is ‘questin to save his sister from the Evil White Cat who abducted her. You get magic spells like Flamepurr and Healing Paw and quest around clearing out caves and helping town cats with their problems. It is SO cute, and the cat puns are AMEOWZING.

This War Of Mine
This game intrigued me. A board game version exists but I recommend playing the computer version first or else it will be hard to understand the board game. You play as a group of civilians in a fictional war torn city. Unlike most war games you aren’t trying to “kill the enemy”, instead you are trying to scavenge and basically survive through bomb shellings and raids. It’s day based and includes a daytime and a night portion. Do you guys play computer and/or console games?

  1. I’m really into Portal right now, but also loving old school N64 games like Mario 64 and Yoshi Story 😛
Also that’s so amazing that Sephora gives out Birthday goodies, I had no idea 😲🎉

      1. I had that happen too! 😂 me too I never want to google how to do it :p
Oh gosh Kirby was the best! Especially the N64 game. I loved making him into all the different versions of Kirby 😆

      2. It’s the worst! But if I don’t I get stuck on the same level for over a year 😅
Yes!!! I loved making kirby into the shiftshaping rock that could turn into a bird, or the fridge! Fridge kirby was my favorite 😆

  2. That birthday set is bomb! I feel like Sephora has really been giving out good birthday sets in the last few years.
The GlamGlow set sounds interesting with the whole sealer thing. It’s been a while since I’ve tried GlamGlow, but maybe I’ll give this one a go once I’ve used up some of my skincare!
LOL, Cat Quest sounds adorable. I’m not a particularly big gamer but I’ve been begging my husband to buy me Little Nightmares on Steam (he’s waiting for it to go on sale haha). It looks cute but creepy haha, and I love the art style!
Also, I had no idea you live in Alberta! For some reason I always thought you were in Ontario 🙂

    1. They really have, I loved last years set too! Which one did you pick this year?
The glam glow set smells so good! I wish it wasn’t so expensive, I’d love to have it full size one day. Let me know if you decide to try it!
I haven’t heard of little nightmares, I’m going to check it out. The autumn sale is on right now, hopefully it goes on sale!
Haha yeah, Alberta born and raised. Both my parents lived on farms in central Alberta growing up. I’m completely a city girl though, I live in Edmonton ☺

      1. I picked up the same one! The liquid lipstick is a tad too light for me, but the formula is nice.
Yes, Glam Glow is very pricey! In the past I’ve always picked them up during the VIB sale – at least you get a bit of a discount on it.
It’s nice to run into a fellow Alberta blogger, there’s not many of us! 😉

      2. Oh right, I remember you telling me that on Instagram now!
I might need to do that for next years VIB sale. Any discount is good from Sephora.
I didn’t know that you’re from Alberta either! Yay for western Canadian Bloggers 🙌

    1. Agreed! I would have loved to try the Caudalie gift as well, both looked like great choices 😊
It is pretty cute! They did a great job with the packaging. I hadn’t heard of the brand before until it came in the box, it’s a good find!

  3. This War of Mine is such an incredible game! I’ve only played it a few times, and it was so emotionally draining. I get so attached to my people, and I get freaked out over every decision I make. It’s definitely an incredible take on the usual war games. Much more emotionally packed!

    1. I’m glad you like ot too! It’s hard to balance the personalities of each person in the house. Especially if you steal from others, then they get depressed which isn’t something you really think about when you’re playing games. I just got the father’s stories DLC which adds even more depth to it!
