This isn’t the haul I expected to be posting today. I had written out my intended haul and was waiting on the box to arrive so I could take photos and share it with you, but there was a bit of a mix up. I walked over to the post office last Thursday to collect my ColourPop Package and pay the customs fee due. In total I paid $12.12CAD in customs for a $34 packages. I was already a little miffed that Canadian Customs said I owed for such a small order, but I knew going in that ColourPop often gets flagged for duties & fees.
I went home and excitedly opened my box expecting to see the No Filter Concealer & My Little Pony Eyeshadow palette that I ordered… and the box contained some one else’s order. I don’t know how that mix up happened. The outside of the box had the correct amount of items and cost associated with my order, but inside was a shipping notice to a girl in Hong Kong!
ColourPop’s Customer Service
I was frustrated and reached out to ColourPop about the order and received an almost instantaneous email response. They assured me that I could keep the extra products and that they would send out my order a second time asap. They didn’t ask for photos of the box contents I received, which was good on them for making this process hassle free for me. I’m annoyed that I’m going to have to pay customs a second time once my real order arrives (assuming they don’t mix it up again!), but at least the value of the extra items outweighs the customs charge. The total of this order adds up to $76USD. Let’s check out my “freebies”.
“It’s coming up roses in soft mauve tones and buttery metallic finishes. Romantic shades make it easy to transition from sweet damsel to femme fatale.”
The Fem Rosa SHE palette is a ColourPop collaboration with Karrueche. The palette contains 12 x 0.85g eyeshadows in the rose toned family in a mix of matte, metallic & satin finishes. The SHE palette retails for $16USD. ColourPop products are leaping bunny certified (cruelty free).
To be honest I don’t really know anything about Karrueche. According to Wikipedia (reputable source, I know) she’s an American actress and model. I don’t really care to research her further, but the SHE palette is quite beautiful. I actually debated purchasing it instead of the MLP palette. I’ve been really feeling peachy pink eyeshadows lately (the Too Faced Peachy Matte palette just might be my new holy grail) so this fits right in with my current mindset.
I’ll post a full review with swatches of this palette once I’ve had time to play with it!
Our revolutionary creme-powder eyeshadow, famous for it’s unique bouncy texture, delivers bold colour & fine glitter in one swipe without creasing, fading or fallout.
ColourPop Super Shock eyeshadows come in a pot with a screw on lid. They are available in glitter, ultra-glitter, metallic, ultra-metallic, satin, pearlized, and matte finishes. A 2.1g pot of Super Shock shadows retails for $5USD.
I received a ton of super shock shadows!! Ten in total. This wasn’t a product that I was overly interested in trying out, as I’ve heard you need to apply them with your finger instead of a brush and that seems like a lot of effort to me, but the shade selection I received is really nice and goes along with the shades in the SHE palette.
I received four mattes, one satin, one pearlized, three ultra-glitter, and one ultra-metallic.
“Our Lippie Primer enhances the wear of any lip product and keeps your lips looking and feeling healthy! Smudge-proof & anti-feathering, it fills in fine lines for a smooth application and longer wear time”
As the description says, ColourPop Lippie Stix Primer helps to fill in lines and extend the wear time of lipstick. It retails for $5USD.
I received two of the same lip primer. I wore one with my vibrant pink lippie stix in the shade Glam Bag. I don’t have a lot of experience with the formula yet, but the lipstick seemed to wear longer with the primer underneath it. It applies clear like a lip balm. I’ve never used a lip primer before, so I’m going to try it out with a few other lipstick formulas that I’m familiar with to see how they wear. Review to come!
I’m starting to get close to 1000 followers on WordPress and I’ve been thinking about hosting a giveaway for a while. My blog doesn’t get enough traffic to justify monetization so any products I would like to include will be purchased with money I’ve earned from my day job. Money has been really tight for the past few years while my husband was in school so it won’t be necessarily an “epic” giveaway, but I’d love to do something for all you amazing people who read, comment, and interact with my blog!
l’ll include some of these super shock eyeshadows (that I DIDN’T swatch), as well as one of the lippie stix primers and a few other goodies that I’ve hand picked. Stay tuned for January!
Have you ever received the wrong order in the mail and what type of products would you like to see in my giveaway!?
