2018 Spring Beauty Releases I Won’t be Purchasing | Anti-Haul

2018 Spring Beauty Anti-HaulSPRING starts this week! I’m so happy that the snow is finally retreating from my backyard and we’ve had a few days above Zero. I can wear my leather jacket again and I’m starting to think about putting away all my gloves and scarves. I’m also looking forward to our heating bill being less in a few months when we can finally turn off the furnace and let the sun warm up our home… ah, those will be the days. And of course, let’s not forget that Sephora just unleashed a huge amount of Spring Beauty Releases recently! I spent hours going through everything new at Sephora and created my Spring Beauty Wishlist last week, and today I’m following up with an Anti-haul of products that for my own personal reasons I will not be purchasing.

Urban Decay Backtalk Eye & Face Palette
While I like the idea of this palette, I feel like I already own all these shades in other palettes. It would be nice to have a palette full of blush, highlight, and eyeshadow but the colour scheme isn’t unique enough for me to need it! To be clear I don’t believe that this palette or any of the products on my anti-haul list are terrible, they’re just not for me.

Urban Decay Naked Petite Heat
I would love to own the Naked Heat palette so when I saw that there was a Naked Petite Heat palette I was excited. Unfortunately I was rather disappointed once I saw that all the shades were mattes. The shades are pretty but these colours are something I would wear for a night out, not for everyday so I would like at least one of these shades to be a shimmer or metallic. I already have an everyday matte palette with similar shades (the Too Faced Just Peachy Mattes Palette).

Kat Von D I am Divine Palette
I know if I bought this palette I would be lost on what to do with the colour combination. These shades probably have the potential to create some very beautiful looks together but I don’t think I’m creative enough to make them work!

Too Faced Life’s A Festival Palette
I’m SO not a fan of the packaging of this palette. I saw it in a Madison Miller first impressions video and I’m not loving it. It’s rainbow shaped but it opens from the top instead of the bottom of the rainbow which I think is weird for holding it easily, and the mirror is tiny inside the palette and has a wavy boarder. I expect a full mirror from Too Faced. These shades look pretty but I would rather just buy a single or two of the ones I know I’ll use, because guaranteed I wouldn’t use half of them. I’m also ready to move on from the unicorn trend!

Tom Ford “F*cking Fabulous” Eau De Parfume
I have no idea if this fragrance is meant for men or for women but I’m not going to lie, I laughed when I saw the name of the product. I then nearly choked when I saw how expensive it is. $395CAD!? You’ve got to be kidding me! There are a lot of lovely fragrances that I enjoy that do NOT COST ALMOST FOUR HUNDRED DOLLARS. That is not fabulous! I wouldn’t buy it for me or for my Significant Other. Hard Pass!

Swipe Up Charcoal Dry Shampoo Hair Blotting Tissues
What is the beauty world coming to!? HAIR blotting tissues? I’m sorry but I’m baffled. I understand face blotting tissues but not hair…  Like, use dry shampoo if you need it, who has time to go blot their hair?!

Releases I’m Curious About

To avoid sounding completely negative there are quite a few new releases that I am absolutely buzzing about, you can find some of them in my 2018 Spring Wishlist! Two more products crossed my radar this month that interest me in addition to my wishlist.

Make Up For Ever Star Lit Palette
This palette is SO FREAKIN’ PRETTY! Looking at it makes me feel like I’m floating in a galaxy. I mean, we kind of are, but still… I love that it’s got a mix of mattes, metallics and chrome finishes. It’s been so hard to be good and keep a budget this Spring! This may be in my future soon…

it Cosmetics Bye Bye Breakout Treatment Concealer

it Cosmetics Bye Bye Breakout Full Coverage Treatment Concealer
I always get acne on my chin. It’s the worst, and I feel like putting concealer over my blemishes in the long run makes them worse. This concealer claims to contain “full-coverage pigments to effectively conceal the look of blemishes, acne, redness, and discolourations without creasing or cracking”. Who knows, maybe it could help?

Are you planning on hauling any of these products?

And that wraps up my 2018 Spring Beauty Release Anti-haul! I’m sure I’ll post another one when the seasons change, but for now this is what I will not be purchasing (aside from maybe the last two items).

I want to reiterate that I don’t think these are terrible products, they very well could be amazing. We all have different expectations and makeup collections and for me I’m just not seeing the use of adding them to mine, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t add them to yours if you love the brands, formulas, or colour schemes!

There are so many that I agree with you about, I think too faced are far too gimmicky rather than focusing on developing new products.

Yes, I’d love to see something new from them at this point, not the same old things! Thanks for reading 🙂

I’m on the fence with the Backtalk palette. I really only want the backtalk blush 😂 I think the palette is so pretty not I know I wouldn’t use it, and I have so many blushes and eyeshadows already that are similar to it. The Life’s a Festival collection is such an Anti Haul for me, did you see the bronzer from that collection?

It would be nice if they came out with singles of the blushes, then you could get just one! There’s so many palettes out that are really pretty but I know I wouldn’t use too, it’s so much better to use what we already have and save the money for something unique!
UGH yes! The Unicorn Tears Bronzer, I don’t know why it needs to exist, but it does. I’m sure some people will really love it but why did it have to be a unicorn!?
      Thanks for reading Emily! 🙂

Yes!! I keep trying to picture it and I see nothing but a hot, muddy, opalescent hot mess. You’re welcome! Loving your posts recently 🙂

I’m right here with you on everything! I’m super bummed about Too Faced right now, I wish they would drop this kiddy packaging. I don’t know why they are still on a unicorn thing. I just expect so much more and I feel like they aren’t delivering. 😕

They never listen when the makeup community is shouting “STOP IT TOO FACED!”
I hope they come out with something new soon, I’m also over the unicorn trend already!

Right? I feel like we’ve voiced our opinions pretty loud and clear!

I am “anti” all the same products! Great minds think alike! When there are so many new releases coming out, you have to be picky!!

Exactly! I don’t have nearly enough money to buy every release. I think I’m going to go for the soft glam palette if it’s in stock during the semi annual sale at Sephora, after I saw your IG post I had a dream that I bought it and it was amazing 😂 I was so sad when I woke up and didn’t have it lol

      • March 19, 2018 / 4:41 pm

        Hahahah!!!! That’s amazing.

I need to make my makeup dreams come true! 😂

          • March 19, 2018 / 4:47 pm

Conversely, I had a dream last night about Greys Anatomy, where I had killed someone accidentally by beating them up 😰 (season 13, although the person doesn’t die). Why aren’t I dreaming about makeup!!!!

          • March 19, 2018 / 4:47 pm

I guess that would be called a nightmare lol

Lol Alex! We’re you watching it before bed or something? Makeup is a much nicer dream 😄

          • March 19, 2018 / 4:52 pm

Haha glad you knew what I was talking about! Yes I’m always watching right before bed lol. I’ll try my best to have makeup dreams tonight 😴

I love Greys, I haven’t watched any of the current season but I finished season 13 recently so it’s fresh in my mind! Good luck! 🙂

I have the Naked heat petite and I don’t think it’s worth it if you already have the ordinal heat palette . If you don’t it could be a good edition 🙂

I remember seeing it first on your blog! I think it would be a nice palette if if I didn’t have anything similar but since it’s all matte I already have similar shades. I would totally buy the full size if I had the extra cash right now!

Thanks for sharing your thoughts! Actually, I am not attracted to the newest UD launches either and I find the Too Faced Unicorn Collection cute but not for me. I smelt Fucking Fabulous and it’s not that fabulous either 😂😂. I’m trying to spend less this month. I’m on a mission!

I do love quite a few UD products but these ones just aren’t calling to me. I’m hearing from quite a few people that they feel the same way about the backtalk palette!
Yes exactly! That unicorn highlighter is adorable but I don’t feel any urge to go and buy it…
haha!! I think the one you got recently is a lot better 🙂
Me too, and I’m failing miserably. I hope you’re doing better than I am!
