Styling a Floral Wrap Dress | Attempting to be stylish

Hey beauties! Something I’ve been wanting to do for a long time is take some outfit photos. My problem was that it’s nearly impossible to get good lighting inside, and I feel incredibly awkward posing out in the world (or even in my house).

I bought a new dress at Simons recently and I figured it was the perfect time to try out some photography! It’s an adorable long sleeved floral wrap dress. It’s completely different from any other dress I’ve ever owned. I have such a hard time finding clothing that fits my body shape so when I find something different that actually looks good on me I get very excited!

I paired this cute little number with a pair of Kelly & Katie booties. I picked up at DSW earlier this season and I’m in love! I love the chunky heel.

My hair was fresh from the salon this day, so I had to take advantage of the style! I can never do my hair like this IRL. Makeup I can do. Hair? Not so much.

I felt hella weird sitting on my back porch taking photos of myself. My neighbours must think I’m very strange. Both neighbours can see into our backyard from their side of the fence. It’s a lot easier to have someone else take your photos!

Black Floral Dress

Do you feel awkward taking photos of yourself? I certainly do, but I’m in love with this dress so it was absolutely worth it. Let me know if you love outfit of the day & fashion posts, I’m having so much fun exploring new branches of photography! Talk soon x

You look super cute & I love your outfit!! The boots pair so well with your wrap dress! ๐Ÿ’›

I’m the same way with taking pictures of myself in public. It stresses me out so much ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚ I live in an apartment complex so it can get super awkward and people tend to stare ๐Ÿ˜‚Photo taking is not my favorite thing to do in the world, that’s for sure lol! But I’d love to be more comfortable with it one day! x

Sameee. Lol. I also have a very specific vision in my head when taking outfit photos but my husband doesnt know much about photography so I have to teach him too. AND, as comfortable as I am with my husband, I still feel awkward posing in front of him when it’s for outfits. Anything else I’m like “here take a picture” lol.
So for now, I typically take all my pictures myself. Not easy but with practice it gets better I guess lmao.
Anyway that dress looks absolutely stunning on you!! I love it!!

I wanted to buy a wrap dress but I opted not to (even though I tried it several times throughout the summer). It was way too open in the dรฉcolletรฉ and didn’t look good. Come to think of it, I maybe was the manufacturer error. I wanted to wear it even as a cape-thing, but that didn’t work out either.
You styled it really good and it certainly looks good on you ๐Ÿ™‚
    Have a nice one ๐Ÿ˜‰

Great dress and you look totally lovely in it! Very classic shape that could probably flatter a lot of figures. I could easily see it paired with some cowboy boots for something more dressed-down. I completely feel odd taking photos of myself so thatโ€™s why I do it alone in my bedroom!

You look lovely! Wrap dresses are so pretty but sometimes the chest area can gape which if you have a bigger cup size isnโ€™t ideal ๐Ÿ˜œ full length photos can be hard to shoot on your own so you did great! Youโ€™re not the only one who gets camera shy lol

Oh I know that struggle! I’m glad that I can pull the fabric super tight so everything is concealed with this dress.
Thank you so much! It was tough to get all the angles I wanted but It was a fun experience ๐Ÿ’•

Iโ€™ve never worn a wrap dress but always think the style looks nice ๐Ÿ˜Š glad youโ€™re pleased with this one!

You killed it girl! These pictures are amazing! I use to feel awkward, (sometimes I still do) but for the most part, I just embrace it. I took pictures for my Christmas cards yesterday and instead of people staring awkwardly they came up to talk to me ask questions, and even asked if I would take their pictures. it was so much fun and a great way to meet people despite all of us hiding behind or in front of a lense. :p I LOE this dress and it looks amazing on you! <3

Thank you! That means a lot, your outfit photos are always so amazing! ๐Ÿ˜Š
That’s so cool that you got to help other people with their photos while taking your own, It’s a great conversation starter for sure.
I just need to get out of my comfort zone more I guess. Thank you! I can’t wait to wear it on holiday ๐Ÿ’•

You look absolutely stunning, I love this dress! And ia actually felt very awkward taking photos of myself at first, especially in public but I got used to it. And, to overcome this awkwardness, I started by taking photos of myself alone, in my room, with a tripod. Just so I can start feeling more comfortable in front of a camera. Then, with time, I started taking photos outside and I got used to people starring at me :p

      Thank you!

Oh my gosh I feel so awkward posing for photos, even when someone else is taking them! And I find it so hard to explain to someone else how to use my camera and what type of shots I want ๐Ÿคฃ
Thank you for the advice! I’m definitely practicing on my own in my house to start out ๐Ÿ˜Š

yessss I totally feel you, I usually show an inspirational photo to the person who is taking a photo of me or I try to the photo of them first then I show them how I did it. Like this, the person has like a reference.
