April Favorites | Beauty Products

I feel like it’s been a long time since I posted, even though I posted just last week. Life has been stressful and insane and I’ve found that right now posting twice a week is all I can manage. I hope you guys don’t mind my lack of blogging schedule right now. If you follow me on instagram you might know that I’ve gone through a bunch of random stuff lately. The worst was I was passed up for a job which really sucked. I’m happy for the co-worker who got it but I’m still a little angry about the reasons why they told me I was passed over. I won’t get into that, just know that I’m working on getting this blog back to normal but it’s going to take a bit of time.

This weeks post is my April Favourites. I’ve been writing favourites posts off and on depending on if products have really impressed me lately. Sometimes a month or two goes by without anything really catching my eye, and other times it seems like I love EVERYTHING. April was one of those months. I was able to place a few online orders and after testing out everything there were quite a few standouts. Let’s talk April Favourites!

April Favourites | ColourPop Sweet Talk Palette & Flower SZN Lux Lipstick

ColourPop Sweet Talk Palette

I reviewed the new Sweet Talk Palette here. The shades in the sweet talk palette aren’t especially unique and I’m certain that this palette is dupeable but I love how cohesive it feels and how every look I do with it reminds me of fresh cut flowers. I created four looks for my review and I love them all. The Sweet Talk Palette also contained two new pressed glitter shades as well as a glittery super shock shadow. I’m in love.

Flower SZN Lux Lipstick

I don’t know why but the Flower SZN Lux Lipstick that released as part of the ColourPop Spring Collection is much more matte than the other creme formulas. I checked and Flower SZN is supposed to be a cream finish but it applies like a velvety matte. Very weird. I love it though, this color lasts for hours on me, even with eating & drinking. It leaves behind a bit of a stain on your lips so that it doesn’t wear away all at once. The shade is absolutely stunning!

April Favourites | Pixiglow Cake Paletet in Gilded Bare

Pixiglow Cake Face Palette in Gilded Bare

I reviewed these palettes back in December (here) and for some reason I started reaching for the Gilded Bare Pixiglow cake face palette a ton this month. The palette really reminds me of Spring. The shades are a little light for me and I have to build them up but they look so soft & beautiful on the skin. The champagne glow palette is lovely as well! I do have to build up the Gilded Bare palette more than the Champagne Glow but it’s what I’ve been reaching for lately.

Pretty Vulgar Ink Gel Liner

Creme Gel Liners

I have been ALL about creme gel liners lately. I recently picked up a Morphe R45, which is a tiny little angled liner brush. It is the most precises angled brush I have ever used and it’s absolutely perfect for applying gel liner. I have the most effortless time applying a wing with this brush now and I love that I never have to worry about clogging up my  gel eyeliners with eyeshadow. In April I constantly wore the ColourPop Creme Gel Liner in the shade Call Me as well as the Pretty Vulgar Ink Gel Liner.

Pixi Makeup Fixing Mist & Peel & Polish

Pixi Peel & Polish & Makeup Fixing Mist

I reviewed six Pixi by Petra face masks that I received in PR in my Which Pixi Beauty Mask Is For You blog post. One of the stand outs was the Pixi Peel & Polish, which exfoliates & polishes away dead skin cells. It leaves my face soft & clean and does a good job as an exfoliator. I still love Exfolikate as my #1 exfoliator but Peel & Polish isn’t bad at all.

I’ve also been using the Pixi Makeup Fixing Mist from my Rose Skintreats PR Haul a lot this April. It smells so nice, it’s a perfume-type scent that I can’t describe but I really enjoy. It does a great job of melting my makeup into my skin and gives me a longer lasting makeup application. The spritzer bottle sucks, sometimes it gets clogged up and will literally squirt like a Squirtle Water Beam. Not cute. Other times the mist doesn’t quite disperse evenly on my skin. I like the product itself, just not the spray bottle.

Elf Beautifully Bare Satin Lipstick | April Favourites

e.l.f. Beautifully Bare Satin Lipstick

This is a $2 lipstick and it’s one of the most creamy comfortable formulas that I own. I’ve been wearing this everywhere – To the grocery store, to work, to job interviews, etc etc. The shade reminds me a lot of Velvet Teddy from Mac. They aren’t really dupes at all but the shade is in a similar color family.

This lipstick came free with my JKissa x elf Haul as a gift with purchase for spending over $25.

Tarte Deep Sea Collagen Super Serum

Tarte Cosmetics Rainforest of the Sea Deep Sea Collagen Super Serum

I wasn’t expecting to like this oil-essence phase serum as much as I did. My skin was desperately needing hydration after the long harsh winter. This serum really helped to target my dry patches and make my skin look smooth & supple again. I’m still sorting out my skin but I really enjoyed this serum! You can find my review of the Deep Sea Collagen Serum Here.

That brush from Morphe is so awesome! I wish I had discovered it years ago. I’m surprised that my Pretty Vulgar eyeliner is still useable, I got it over a year ago and it’s still creamy!
It’s impossible to try everything unfortunately, but I hope you’re able to test some of these products yourself one day. Thanks for reading! 🙂

I enjoy your posts so much. Especially the fact that you do a wide array of items price wise. And for me you explain exactly the things I’m wanting to know about a product. How does it feel when applied, smell, texture, results. Also, with the job thing: it never feels good to be passed over. But! You’ve got something better coming, I just know it. This may be a bullet dodged. Take the time you need to feel better about things. The blog fam loves you!! Good vibes babe 💕💕

I’m sorry about the job. I’ve been there before. Hopefully something better comes your way soon.
Also, great faves. I think I need to start using the PV Ink Gel Liner, I remember liking it a lot.

Thank you, I hope so! I let myself sulk for a week but I’m feeling much better now. I’m moving on!
Oh yes, definitely pull it out again! Plus they dry up eventually so you don’t want it to go to waste.

Is your job a little better for you? I remember you posted about how stressed you were a few months ago

          • May 3, 2019 / 7:17 pm

It’s still stressed filled but there’s a light at the end of the tunnel.

          • May 3, 2019 / 10:41 pm

And celebrating your new place and your five year wedding anniversary! There’s nothing wrong with being disappointed and feeling down sometimes, a small dose of that is healthy and it’s how you get back up that counts! ❤️

        • May 3, 2019 / 7:09 pm

Yes that’s true! Despite the bad there has also been quite a bit of good this year.
I think I’m back on my feet today, I didn’t cry today and I’m feeling less bitter. It helped that my husband was off in the evening yesterday so I was finally able to talk to someone about everything!

          • May 3, 2019 / 8:28 pm

Sometimes having a person around to talk to can make all the difference, glad you’re feeling a little better 😊

          • May 3, 2019 / 10:42 pm

            It can 😊 Thanks!
