I feel like it’s been a long time since I posted, even though I posted just last week. Life has been stressful and insane and I’ve found that right now posting twice a week is all I can manage. I hope you guys don’t mind my lack of blogging schedule right now. If you follow me on instagram you might know that I’ve gone through a bunch of random stuff lately. The worst was I was passed up for a job which really sucked. I’m happy for the co-worker who got it but I’m still a little angry about the reasons why they told me I was passed over. I won’t get into that, just know that I’m working on getting this blog back to normal but it’s going to take a bit of time.
This weeks post is my April Favourites. I’ve been writing favourites posts off and on depending on if products have really impressed me lately. Sometimes a month or two goes by without anything really catching my eye, and other times it seems like I love EVERYTHING. April was one of those months. I was able to place a few online orders and after testing out everything there were quite a few standouts. Let’s talk April Favourites!

I reviewed the new Sweet Talk Palette here. The shades in the sweet talk palette aren’t especially unique and I’m certain that this palette is dupeable but I love how cohesive it feels and how every look I do with it reminds me of fresh cut flowers. I created four looks for my review and I love them all. The Sweet Talk Palette also contained two new pressed glitter shades as well as a glittery super shock shadow. I’m in love.
I don’t know why but the Flower SZN Lux Lipstick that released as part of the ColourPop Spring Collection is much more matte than the other creme formulas. I checked and Flower SZN is supposed to be a cream finish but it applies like a velvety matte. Very weird. I love it though, this color lasts for hours on me, even with eating & drinking. It leaves behind a bit of a stain on your lips so that it doesn’t wear away all at once. The shade is absolutely stunning!
I reviewed these palettes back in December (here) and for some reason I started reaching for the Gilded Bare Pixiglow cake face palette a ton this month. The palette really reminds me of Spring. The shades are a little light for me and I have to build them up but they look so soft & beautiful on the skin. The champagne glow palette is lovely as well! I do have to build up the Gilded Bare palette more than the Champagne Glow but it’s what I’ve been reaching for lately.
Creme Gel Liners
I have been ALL about creme gel liners lately. I recently picked up a Morphe R45, which is a tiny little angled liner brush. It is the most precises angled brush I have ever used and it’s absolutely perfect for applying gel liner. I have the most effortless time applying a wing with this brush now and I love that I never have to worry about clogging up my gel eyeliners with eyeshadow. In April I constantly wore the ColourPop Creme Gel Liner in the shade Call Me as well as the Pretty Vulgar Ink Gel Liner.
I reviewed six Pixi by Petra face masks that I received in PR in my Which Pixi Beauty Mask Is For You blog post. One of the stand outs was the Pixi Peel & Polish, which exfoliates & polishes away dead skin cells. It leaves my face soft & clean and does a good job as an exfoliator. I still love Exfolikate as my #1 exfoliator but Peel & Polish isn’t bad at all.
I’ve also been using the Pixi Makeup Fixing Mist from my Rose Skintreats PR Haul a lot this April. It smells so nice, it’s a perfume-type scent that I can’t describe but I really enjoy. It does a great job of melting my makeup into my skin and gives me a longer lasting makeup application. The spritzer bottle sucks, sometimes it gets clogged up and will literally squirt like a Squirtle Water Beam. Not cute. Other times the mist doesn’t quite disperse evenly on my skin. I like the product itself, just not the spray bottle.
This is a $2 lipstick and it’s one of the most creamy comfortable formulas that I own. I’ve been wearing this everywhere – To the grocery store, to work, to job interviews, etc etc. The shade reminds me a lot of Velvet Teddy from Mac. They aren’t really dupes at all but the shade is in a similar color family.
This lipstick came free with my JKissa x elf Haul as a gift with purchase for spending over $25.
I wasn’t expecting to like this oil-essence phase serum as much as I did. My skin was desperately needing hydration after the long harsh winter. This serum really helped to target my dry patches and make my skin look smooth & supple again. I’m still sorting out my skin but I really enjoyed this serum! You can find my review of the Deep Sea Collagen Serum Here.
