By the time you’re reading this blog post I’ll be in Thailand! I’m currently writing this blog post in anticipation of departing for Bangkok. I still can’t believe that I actually booked a solo vacation on a whim. It was one of my self growth goals that I set in my 30 before 30 list but saying is easier than doing sometimes.
Now the thing is, I booked the trip fully intending to travel solo (on a group tour), but a friend of mine who loves to travel decided to take the same time off and book the same tour. The important thing was that I was willing to take a big leap, but I’m relieved to have a friend along with me.
I won’t be able to respond to your comments as easily over the next two to three weeks, but I’ll get back to you guys as soon as I can. Today I wanted to share my Backpacker Beauty Routine! Every time I travel my beauty routine changes because of climate and itinerary. My Thai adventure will have a little bit of lounging at the pool, and a lot of adventuring so I made sure to pack for both!
My Backpacker Beauty Routine
– Makeup –
I decided to pack a more expensive foundation on this trip, but only because all the other ones in my collection either don’t match me or are stick foundations. I prefer a liquid foundation for travel because of the ease of blending them. And my Stellar foundation matches me pretty well.
My Base:
- Stellar Limitless Foundation
- Covergirl Trublend Concealer
- Pixi Beauty Gilded Bare Pixi Glow Cake Face Palette
- Milk Makeup Luminous Blur Stick
For the eyes I’m taking my Double Entendre Eyeshadow Palette. I was planning on taking the Brown Sugar Palette but a few of the shades randomly broke and I couldn’t repress them. I’ve also thrown in a mascara, eyebrow pencil, eyeliner and single shadow.
The Eyes:
- ColourPop Double Entendre Palette
- Essence Melted Chrome Shadow
- NYX Micro Brow Pencil
- Essence Super Fine Eyeliner Pen
- Butter London Double Decker Mascara
I don’t travel anywhere without my Mac Velvet Teddy lipstick. It’s one of those shades that flatters any makeup look. It’s one of my favourite nude lipsticks which is why it will be in my carry on travel bag with me.
I’m also loving my ColourPop Lip Crayons and I’ll be taking the shades Cherry Pickin’ and Maui Wowie with me on the plane.
My lipstick:
- Mac Velvet Teddy
- ColourPop Lip Crayons
How do you choose what makeup to travel with?
I hope you’re all having a lovely week! This is my last planned post at the moment. I’m not sure when I’ll have another up, it might be a week, two, three. I’m not working on content while I’m on vacation and honestly? I’ve felt so free since I removed the deadlines from my blog.
You can expect a looser schedule going forward. I’ll be around, but I won’t be buying makeup specifically to review anymore. In fact I’ve come to a conclusion about what I should be doing with my life and it turns out, this isn’t it. This blog will remain a hobby for me. I can’t waste time anymore pouring myself into something I’m not passionate about. I’ll write an update in the future about what I’m up to!
Kiiind of sad that you will no longer be reviewing makeup because your posts were always so easy & interesting to read. I totally understand that it’s something you are no longer passionate about though. I’m glad you have felt so free without the pressure of a blog schedule, you will definitely enjoy it as a hobby more. π Again, hope you’re having the best time in Thailand. How awesome your friend was able to join you!

I will still be reviewing some products, I just won’t be worrying as much about always posting about the latest releases π I have a few palettes that I’m working on reviews of for the new year!
Thank you! All this travel has been good for me, but I’m glad to be getting back to a routine π
Oh I don’t mind! I love reading your reviews, whether they be new releases or not. π So happy to hear the travel has been good for you!

Aw thank you so much π
Hope you have fun in Thailand!
These makeup picks are great.

Thanks Rossy!! I’m at the Vancouver airport right now, I can finally get back into my regular routine now that all my travel is done π
I’m trying to do the same π good luck!
I hope you had an amazing trip, Cleia! I saw the photos on Insta and they were all so pretty. π
That is so cool that you planned a solo trip. That’s honestly one of my dreams and it’s inspiring to hear that you booked one! βοΈ
You should always do what’s best for you first! I’m happy that you’re pursuing your passions and finding time to do what you really love! x

Thank you! It was great, and I just got back from Hawaii. I lived the trip but I’m looking forward to getting back into a routine soon.
I’d love to do another trip like this in the future, but I’d like to travel more with my husband too π It’s nice to have company on your travels
That’s so lovely of you to say, thank you! I miss blogging and being on here though so I’m planning on posting some in the new year π But my main focus will be elsewhere, I hope it will make the blog feel like less of a deadline.
I’m sooo excited for you! I’ve been loving your instagram content so much recently! I’ve been watching all your stories and just been so excited to see your trip, and hear about it as your post! I can’t wait to read your travel post once it goes live! I knew you were going to bring that essence single shadow! You’re so obsessed with it! It’s so hard for me to pack lightly in terms of makeup. I usually force myself to bring one palette that I know I’ll be able to do multiple kinds of looks with, and then bring foundation according to what shade I am and where I’m going. Great post ! xxx

I’m so glad to hear that!! It’s so nice being able to share what I’ve been up to, and is so much quicker than writing a full blog post π
We’re in Hawaii right now but I’m planning content for the new year. I just needed a breather away from all the new releases and blogging world for a while.
I’m still obsessed with the essence shadows! I brought it on this trip too π palettes are great for travel. It’s nice to know you have everything you need in one place! Thanks for reading and sorry I’m a month behind on replies x
If I travel or need to take makeup away with me for a night or two I like multipurpose products and tend to keep things minimal, single Creme, shimmery eyeshadow or something like that and one or two lip colours. Sorry to hear you might not be blogging as much anymore but as someone who made the decision to cut posts back and only write/post when I feel like it, it is more enjoyable π

I love simple routines when I’m only away for a weekend, but I’m already getting bored with these products after being away for two weeks! I miss variety π
I’m sorry I have to cut back, but honestly it’s for the best. I was getting so tired of feeling like I had to review things just because they were new! Now I’m buying things because I actually want them, not because I think people want to read about them π
Two weeks is a long time to be using the same products haha. No need to apologise for cutting back, itβs about whatβs best for you x

It really is π Thanks Chanelle! I’ve been enjoying having so much extra time for other things lately
Hope youβre having an awesome trip!! And kudos for booking a solo trip – thatβs something Iβve always been afraid to do myself!

It’s not so bad on a group tour, they take care of your airport pick up, hotels & transportation. So you’re own your own but not really!
Thatβs true. My aunt has done loads of tours by herself, specifically in Europe. She loves them, and gets to meet new people.

They’re really great for that! You definitely get out of your comfort zone and get to meet so many cool people π
Enjoy your trip! I’ve personally never booked a solo travel trip before but I would like to go traveling a bit more and see more of the world before 30 too which is a while away but also not far. Can’t wait to get updates on how you enjoyed Thailand!
