Becca Glow Lip Gloss Review & Swatches

I have found my Holy Grail lip gloss. While strolling through Marshalls I stumbled across the Becca x Chrissy Teigan Icing Glow Gloss set which sat in my cart for most of the holiday season. I’m glad I didn’t splurge at Christmas time because it was marked down to $15CAD! I picked it up, feeling slightly guilty because of how many products I’ve purchased lately but also feeling proud of myself for finding a great deal. It’s a fine line to walk…

Glossy lips are having a moment right now. I’ve been wearing a TON of lipgloss lately and have been searching for the perfect, pigmented non-sticky gloss. I had hoped that the Bite Beauty French Press Gloss would be my perfect lip gloss but unfortunately it wasn’t meant to be. Thankfully I finally found another gloss that answers my lip gloss prayers — a gloss that is non-sticky, comfortable, and has just the right amount of colour. I won’t gloss over it… Let’s talk about the Becca Cosmetics Glow Lip Gloss!

Becca Glow Lip Gloss Review

Becca Glow Lip Gloss retails for $27CAD and contains 0.18oz of product ($150/oz). For comparison the ABH lip gloss retails at $21 for 0.16oz ($131.25/oz), the Tarte H2O lipgloss retails at $24 for 0.135oz ($177/oz) and the Buxom Full on Plumping Lip Polish retails for $24 for 0.15oz ($160/oz). Glow Gloss is still expensive but it’s kind of in the middle value-wise as far as mid-range lip glosses go.

These glosses are currently available in ten different shades plus a limited edition Champagne Crème Glow Gloss.

I’m going to focus more on the formula of these glosses and less on the specific shades because the Becca x Chrissy Tiegan Lip Icing set is limited edition. The set is no longer available at Sephora but it’s still available at Ulta here.

Becca Glow Lipgloss Packaging

Packaging

I have one problem with the packaging of the Becca Glow Lip Glosses, and it’s the rounded base. This might be just a beauty blogger thing but I think I remember that Nova also had a problem with this when she wrote her review. I like to stand my lipglosses up okay? These lip glosses fall over when I try to stand them up so I’ve been keeping them in their Chrissy Teigan Lip Icing box.

I can technically stand them up upside-down but I’m worried the product would leak out if I did that all the time. The Becca Glow Gloss applicator features a small doe foot wand. The caps on these glosses are usually silver but mine are gold because they’re part of a collaboration.

Performance

My Becca  x Chrissy Teigan Lip Icing Glow Gloss set included four glow lip glosses. The four shades in the set are Crème Brûlée, Cinnamon Bun, Sugar Plum and Candy Cane. The first three glosses have a slight shimmer finish but Candy Cane is a solid red with no shimmer.

All of these glosses are comfortable, non-sticky and wear pretty well as long as I’m not eating or drinking constantly. They also never bleed, even when worn on bare lips. Awesome!

I didn’t notice a tingling sensation from the Peppermint Oil, nor did I notice the plumping effect the Becca Glow Glosses are supposed to have. It’s honestly not a deal breaker for me, I didn’t even realize they were marketed as plumping before I purchased them. Let’s talk about each shade individually.

Becca Creme Brule Glow Gloss Review

Crème Brûlée

Crème Brûlée is the perfect nude gloss. It has a touch of shimmer and goes on as a sheer pink. It’s works well as a lip topper or to wear over bare lips. The pink isn’t very visible so it’s a good your-lips-but-better gloss.

Cinnamon Bun Becca Lip Icing Gloss Review

Cinnamon Bun

Cinnamon Bun leans more metallic than the previous gloss. It’s still very wearable and isn’t as foiled looking as a metallic liquid lipstick but it’s definitely more than just a shimmer. This bronze shade pairs well with a neutral or gold eyeshadow look. I prefer to wear it over bare lips instead of over a lipstick because of how much color you get from one swipe of this gloss.

Becca Glow Lip Gloss in Sugar Plum

Sugar Plum

Like Cinnamon Bun, Sugar Plum is more metallic than shimmery but the effect is subtle enough that this Becca Glow Lip Gloss can be worn everyday. I prefer this gloss over bare lips as well. Actually, the only gloss here that I would wear as a lip topper is Crème Brûlée because it’s so sheer. Cinnamon bun & Sugar plum are much more opaque on the lips!

Glow Lip Gloss in Candy Cane | Chrissy Teigan Lip Icing

Candy Cane

Candy Cane is possibly my favourite lip gloss EVER! I enjoy wearing red lipstick from time to time but I always worry about the formula smudging and getting on my teeth in public. This gloss does neither of those things and the red is almost completely opaque with just a touch of sheerness. There is no shimmer to this gloss, just shine. It’s the perfect Summer red! I just ignore that it’s called Candy Cane, holiday releases are good year round.

Becca Chrissy Teigan Lip Icing Swatches

Bottom Line:

Overall I really love these lip glosses and I will definitely be picking up more in the future. I hope that Becca continues to put out more shades because I want them all! The pros far outweigh the cons for me and it feels like I’ve been searching for a lip gloss like the Becca Glow Gloss forever.

Pros:

  • Comfortable
  • Non Sticky
  • Pigmented
  • Doesn’t bleed

Cons:

  • No noticeable plumping effect
  • $27CAD
  • Rounded Base

I was 100% sure I commented on your post, but I guess not? Anyways, I got these lip glosses during the Sephora summer sale around the same time you bought these, and I can understand why you love them! They are one of the best glosses I’ve tried too. Glosses these days are just so much higher quality in general. All of the shades look really nice on you. I love creme brulee in particular!

Great find on these! I can never find good stuff at Marshalls or Winners, but I’m also not a patient shopper.

All good! I’m glad that lip gloss has come so far since the 90s. And I’m glad that you love these so much too, they really do have a great formula! I’ll have to keep an eye out for more during the fall sale.

I don’t always find good things, lately they’ve only had old palettes that nobody wants. I’ve been practically stalking my local store trying to find the peach blush/bronzer from Too Faced that people have apparently seen there lately but so far no luck. But I’m glad I found this set!

So great that you found them much much cheaper and you didn’t have to pay full price! 😀 the Marshall’s that was near me unfortunately closed so I hope the stores dont disappear completely.
Anyway. Loving the key ingredients. I love using products with vitamin e for lips, whether its liquid lips or creamy ones because it makes the products feel more nourishing.
Love the shade creme brulee (I made some creme brulee over the weekend too lol) but I’m more into nude shades lately for glosses. Idk why.
    Great review Cleia!

Oh no! I hope they don’t either, it’s become one of my favorite places to shop. You can find so many great things there if you’re willing to wait for product to rotate through.
These glosses do actually feel like they nourish so I am 100% on board with them 🙂

Is creme brulee hard to make? I’ve only had it at fancy restaurants before!

I’ve gotten SO MANY things from Marshall’s I love it!
I have to drive almost 30 or 40 mins out to the nearest one, I took advantage yesterday but didn’t find anything that stood out. Ciel found toys though LOL

Nooo!! Not hard to make at all! You just have to wait a long time, like you mix the ingredients together, put in the oven for 45 to 50 mins, let them cool to room temp, then cover and place inside the fridge for 2 hours, then take out, leave it out for 30 mins and THEN back in the oven for a few minutes on broil if you don’t have a torch for the sugar. We didn’t add the sugar on top because I’m not trying to eat much sugar, so whatever sugar amount is in the recipe, that is it. Alex LOVED it and wants me to make it again. I think it was only 4 ingredients, super easy, you should totally try making them!

Marshalls has everything! Home, clothing, makeup, kids, babies, it’s such a great store!

I would just need to be around during the day then I guess, maybe I’ll try it if it’s not too difficult. I’ve been trying to cook more and make new recipes this year!
Do you have a recipe for it?

I love me some good lip gloss! I’ve never bought anything from Becca so these are a great intro to the brand. I love the way they look, the packaging is so nice too! I do agree with the rounded bottom… like why? It is nice to look at but not really practical for the matter of standing it up to keep the content at the bottom. I would have to say I think my fave colors are the creme brulee or the candy cane! My boyfriend just doesn’t really like those bold colors though so if I got it, I’d wear it when he’s not around LOL. Thanks for reviewing them Cleia! <3

Becca has so many great little tester kits that actually a good value! I love their purple primer (I think it’s called first light?) and now I love these glosses!
The packaging could be a little better but at the end of the day it’s not the worst thing. Those two are my favorite shades too! It’s such a pretty red, and even though it’s bold it’s not as crazy as something matte 😄 Thanks for reading!

Heard these were great quality, and the colors look amazing on you! Lip gloss ain’t what it used to be, and I’m so glad brands are making non-sticky formulas now. When I was teen I went for the MAC Lip Glasses and oh my lord, how sticky!

    • June 11, 2019 / 9:09 pm

They still make the MAC lip glass don’t they? Did they ever change the formula? This is hands down my favorite gloss ever!

  5. June 11, 2019 / 6:19 am

These lipglosses look beautiful, especially Cinnamon Bun! 😍

    • June 11, 2019 / 9:08 pm

I love them! It’s such a good find for $15!

  6. June 11, 2019 / 1:00 am

This set looks gorgeous and all the shades look stunning on you! How would you rank the four shades from favourite to least favourite? x

    • June 11, 2019 / 9:07 pm

Candy Cane is my favorite, then creme brulee, sugar plum and cinnamon bun! It’s hard to choose though

  7. June 10, 2019 / 12:06 pm

Lovely review!! the packaging looks a bit annoying I agree. But I really love the shades you got! Cinnamon bun looks so beautiful!

    • June 11, 2019 / 9:06 pm

I love the selection of shades in here! Thanks for reading 😊
