Hey friends! Catrice Cosmetics sent me their HD liquid Coverage foundation to try out and let me tell you, I was blown away. I was worried that this foundation would let me down after my disappointing experience with the Catrice Self Made Bae palette, but thankfully I didn’t need to be concerned. Catrice also sent over their Liquid Camouflage High Coverage Concealer but I will save that review for another day.
I wasn’t expecting to love this foundation as I’ve gotten rather used to wearing more “high end” foundations (my previous go to was the Stellar Beauty Limitless Foundation), and I seem to have forgotten that you can find some really excellent base makeup at the drugstore. I’m happy to report that their shade range includes a fair shade with yellow undertones, — Fair 08 worked perfectly for me! I get really frustrated with brands like Covergirl & Maybelline with such basic, small shade selections to choose from.
The Catrice HD Liquid Coverage foundation is one of my favourite base products! Let me tell you why…
Catrice HD Liquid Coverage Foundation Review
The Catrice HD Liquid Coverage Foundation retails for $10.99USD. The foundation is described as a “Ultra-light, high coverage foundation for a natural looking finish”. It claims to mattify and create a smooth, even complexion for up to 24 hours. There are 23 shades of foundation to choose from so it’s hopefully a little easier to find a match from Catrice than from other drugstore brands.
Packaging
This product doesn’t look like something from the drugstore. If I didn’t know that Catrice was sold at Shoppers Drug Mart at a very affordable price I would assume that it was a much higher end foundation. The frosted glass bottle and dropper applicator make it feel extra luxe!
I always prefer a pump to a dropper. Sometimes it wouldn’t pick up much product, and other times it dispensed way more than I thought it would. I think it’s just something you have to get used to. I find that droppers work great for liquid serums, but thicker products like foundation or thicker serums (like the Pixi Hydrating Milky Serum) don’t always pick up well in a dropper.
Application & Coverage
The Catrice HD Liquid Coverage foundation blended immediately on my skin. I always apply foundation with a wet sponge which usually sheers out liquid foundation on my skin as the sponge absorbs some of the product. I got a very quick & easy layer of medium coverage from just one application. A second squeeze from the dropper brought me up to high coverage, but unlike a lot of high coverage foundations the product blended easily & seamlessly.
It does a great job at covering blemishes & hyperpigmentation. My face can be blotchy & red in some areas and I find that this foundation really evens out my skin tone.
I don’t think I’ve ever had such an easy time applying a foundation. I have dry patches which tend to make foundation a nightmare, but thankfully the Catrice foundation didn’t cling to those patches or appear cakey.
Finish
You can definitely tell that I’m wearing foundation when I wear Catrice HD. It’s not because my skin looks cakey. My skin looks almost too good to be real in this foundation! The finish isn’t super heavy on the skin, it kind of has that second skin effect that I think a lot of us are looking for.
I have’t done any sort of retouching to the photo above, no blitzing of acne spots or uneven texture. I love that it covers any redness or blemishes without the need for editing magic!
The finish of Catrice HD Liquid Foundation is mattifying, but I don’t find that it sucks the moisture out of my skin. For reference my skin type is extremely dry and I haven’t had a problem! Yay!

Wear Time
I love reviewing products but I wasn’t going to wear this foundation long enough to test the 24 hour claim. Neither you nor I should wear foundation for a full 24 hours, that’s insane! I’ve been wearing Catrice HD foundation daily for two weeks now and I haven’t noticed any breaking up on my T-zone throughout the day.
After a full work day my makeup still looks good and I don’t feel the need to touch up in the evening. Even if I were able to go out for dinner I wouldn’t need to fix anything.
What’s your favorite Catrice product?
I love this foundation! If it weren’t for the packaging I would give it five stars, but I do find the dropper a little inconvenient. That’s pretty minor though. Have you tried the Catrice HD Liquid Foundation? I’d love to know what you thought of it!
oh my gosh it sounds amazing, now i understand why you were saying you were loving it, it looks amazing on you! and i’m so so shocked that even though it’s mattifying it doesnt cling to your dry patches, i’ve always had a problem with matte products so i avoid them but this one sounds like i could probably use it and love it as well. i’ll have to look into it π i hope ulta carries the actual foundation otherwise i might have a harder time finding it lol
thanks for sharing π

I’m amazed!! Now it’s spring and I’m a little oiler so it could be different in winter when my skin is drier, but I love it at the moment! I think they do, but I could be mistaken. I hope you can find it!
After realizing that the chemical SPF in the loreal infallible foundation was causing breakouts, I was looking for a new drugstore foundation! I might have to look into this one. Specially since you said that you haven’t had any breakouts and that your skin doesn’t look dry with it on! Great review Cleia π x

Oh no, it sucks when a product causes breakouts. Yes this formula is magical, I’m going to buy it myself when I run out! I hope you like it too!
This foundation almost seem too good to actually believe and yet looking at the photo your face looks so flawless. β₯

Thank you! I didn’t even edit the photo beyond cropping it π To be fair I was having a good skin day, but I always find my makeup looks better with this foundation. Thanks for reading! x
I’ve heard great things about this foundation. Isn’t this the one that’s often compared to the original Fenty foundation? Hmm, I think so…anyway. Your skin looks amazinggg in these photos, and that’s awesome that it doesn’t cling to dry patches. That’s the worst!

I don’t know actually, I hadn’t read anything about this one before trying it! But I wouldn’t doubt it, it’s really good! Thanks Erica! x
This sounds so lovely and it looks absolutely beautiful on your skin! Glad the shade match suited you too. I find having dry skin if I’m going to look cakey it usually shows after applying concealer haha so I never know if it’s foundation or concealer that’s doing it. Most days it’s fine and it’s not noticeable unless someone came right up to my face.

Thank you! I’m so happy the shade worked out, I’m always nervous when I can’t swatch something before choosing a shade. Oh no, there’s no way to know which it is then π But most people probably aren’t scrutinizing your makeup up close anyways, I’m sure you’re fine!
Blind buying foundation is the hardest, lipsticks or blushes you can kind of style out but if a foundation is wrong itβs WAY more noticeable! So pleased you got the right shade π most days Iβm pretty happy with how my makeup looks and occasionally my work colleagues even compliment me βΊοΈ

Definitely! Foundation is so noticeable when the shade is off. Aww that’s such a nice feeling!
I can’t wait to get this foundation when all this is over! I loved the original one. And great review of it btw π
