Hey again loves! The last time I ordered from Sephora I picked out the Clinique Almost Lipstick in the shade Black Honey. This is known in the beauty world as a cult classic, though to be honest I only recently discovered it! I was torn by the $21 price tag. That’s the most I have ever spent on a lipstick, and I wasn’t sure if it was worth it. Sephora’s return policy is awesome, so I figured I’d give it a go and I could always return it if I needed to. Thankfully I enjoyed it enough to keep my Almost Lipstick.
Clinque Almost Lipstick in Black Honey | Review
A universally-flattering, ultra-light lip balm in an iconic shade that anyone can wear because it creates a one-of-a-kind lip look on everyone. — Sephora
Clinique Almost Lipstick Retails for $19.50USD. The Canadian pricing has gotten a little ostentatious. At the time I purchased this product I paid $21CAD. It now retails for $25 at Clinique and $26 at Sephora. Honestly I don’t think I would repurchase given the $5 price jump for what this lipstick is.
Anyways, Clinique Almost Lipstick contains 0.7oz of product and has a consistency between a lip balm and a lipstick. The finish is sheer & emollient.
The packaging of my Black Honey Almost Lipstick is absolutely gorgeous. I love having this in my purse just to look at it! It’s simplistic and yet conveys a sense of sophistication. The thin tube is sleek & stylish and it feels very grown-up in my makeup bag.
I knew going in that Almost Lipstick was going to apply sheer. Despite the shade name, Black Honey, you won’t get a deep dark lipstick application. This lipstick has a berry toned sheen to it, but it won’t drastically alter your lip colour.
As with any glossy/sheer lipstick, Clinque Almost Lipstick doesn’t last a particularly long time. I need to reapply every hour or two, but honestly that doesn’t really bother me. It’s hard to mess up the application when it’s almost a tinted lip balm. The only thing that truly bothered me about this lipstick was that I had to use a lip scrub before applying. It has a tendency to cake around dry spots instead of smoothing them out which is really not cute and shouldn’t be happening with a lipstick this expensive.
Overall it’s okay, but next time I will just buy a tinted balm for the same effect.
