Hey everyone! Today we’re talking about the BFF Liquid Eyeliner from ColourPop. I love a good eyeliner as much as the next girl but I’m not always willing to shell out Sephora prices for the perfect wing. My favourite Liner is currently the Stila Stay All Day Liner, but I like to try out less expensive liners in between purchases.
The ColourPop BFF Liquid Eyeliner is supposed to have an Ultra Fine tip for the perfect cat eye or winged liner. I hoped that it would be the perfect eyeliner for me, especially since I loved my ColourPop BFF Mascara but in the end I was left a little disappointed. Keep reading to find out why…

ColourPop BFF Liquid Eyeliner Review
Introducing bff liquid liner, our first ever precision felt tip liquid eyeliner pen. The easy to use, flexible tip glides on smoothly with intense pigmentation in one swipe without skipping or tugging. She’s with you from thin to thick, from a sleek wing to a full-on cat eye, she’ll build you up and won’t let you down. This transfer resistant formula won’t smudge, feather or run. — ColourPop
The ColourPop Bff Liquid Eyeliner retails for $8USD and comes in 7 different shades. I’m reviewing the shade that is probably the most popular, Numero Uno, which is a standard black. I wish that they had released a brown eyeliner in the BFF Eyeliner collection. I think it would have rounded out the colour selection nicely.
The packaging of the BFF Eyeliners is really cute. The design is already rubbing off on my eyeliner though, which is to be expected from ColourPop products. I think part of why their quality is so good is because they sacrifice on packaging. The labels always rub off on my liquid lipstick bottles and the eyeliner tube is no exception.
Before the labels rub off you get a white eyeliner pen with silver stars and ColourPop written on the side.
When you shake the pen in makes a clicking noise, so I think it has some sort of a ball inside to help mix up the liquid (?) I can’t see inside so I’m not entirely sure if that’s right.
I don’t really have any issues applying my Numero Uno BFF Liquid Eyeliner. The felt tip is actually quite thin and it tapers to a fine & preceise point. I can roll it on its side or use the fine tip to start my wing. I did notice some of the fibres started separating near the top so I had to pinch them off to keep the felt tip precise.
If you’re lining over top of a super chunky eyeshadow it can sometimes clog up the eyeliner. I usually just shake up the pen and draw it across my hand to clear the felt tip and it works alright.
My first complaint about this black eyeliner is that it’s not matte. I don’t know about you but I don’t really like shine in my black eyeliner. Numero Uno definitely has a bit of shine to it that I’m not the biggest fan of. My favourite matte eyeliner is the Lancome Grandiôse Liner, there’s something so wonderful about a matte black line!
The second thing that I don’t like is that despite the product claims I experienced a ton of smudging with Numero Uno on several different occasions. I wore it to work a couple days in a row and on each day by the halfway mark of my shift the liner had smudged all over my eyelid. NOT CUTE!
I started setting the eyeliner with a black eyeshadow after application and I didn’t notice any smudging after that, but I don’t think that should be necessary. I rarely set my eyeliner when I wear other formulas, so the fact that I have to set this black eyeliner is a deal breaker.
The liner was long lasting if I took the time to set it with powder.
- Fine & Precise Tip
- Easy to use
Have you tried the ColourPop BFF Liquid Eyeliner?
You can see the eyeliner in action in my latest YouTube Video!
Unfortunately I won’t be purchasing this eyeliner again. The other colours might be better, but I would rather purchase my Stila liquid liner over the ColourPop BFF Eyeliner. It’s tried & true with no smudging. Let me know if you’ve tried this eyeliner and if you had the same or a different experience with it. Thanks for reading! x
