ColourPop SHE Palette | Review + 2 Looks

ColourPop SHE palette Review

Due to a mix up with a ColourPop order I accidentally received the ColourPop SHE Palette. There was a mix up with my order and I was sent an Accidental Haul that that was supposed to be shipped to Hong Kong, it was very strange! On the bright side they let me keep the products. Today I’m reviewing that ColourPop SHE palette.

ColourPop She Palette Review

“It’s coming up roses in soft mauve tones and buttery metallic finishes. Romantic shades make it easy to transition from sweet damsel to femme fatale.”

The Fem Rosa SHE palette is a ColourPop collaboration with Karrueche. The palette contains 12 x 0.85g eyeshadows in the rose toned family in a mix of matte, metallic & satin finishes. The SHE palette retails for $16USD. ColourPop products are leaping bunny certified (cruelty free).

I personally don’t care too much about who Karrueche is, I hadn’t heard of her before this collab and I’m not one for following celebrities too closely. She’s apparently an American Model. Moving on to the makeup…

Karrueche ColourPop She Palette Review

Colourpop palettes are fairly small. It’s not quite makeup-before-the-sephora-checkout small, but it’s smaller than I thought it would be. The She Palette is slightly bigger than my hand. It came in a pink cardboard container with the palette name written in gold and the shade names on the back.

The palette itself is so beautiful to look at that I almost didn’t want to use it! The outside of the palette has a pretty rose design and the shades are printed on the back just like the cardboard packaging. I like that each shade also says what the finish is, whether it’s matte, satin or metallic. The palette is made of thick cardboard with a magnetic closure. It doesn’t contain a mirror which is a bit of a disappointment, but at least they made the inside pretty.

Colour Story

I’m happy that the ColourPop She palette has a row of mattes.  Out of the matte shades none are really similar to the others, though they fall in the same warm toned range. If this was the only palette that I owned I would have liked to see a lighter shade to act as a base and help set my eyeshadow primer, but speaking as a girl who owns her fair share of eye palettes I already have shades in my collection that can do that. If you don’t have a lot of eyeshadow in your collection it might be a little harder to create looks that aren’t bold & dramatic with the She palette.

There are seven metallics included and one satin finish.

Pigmentation, Blend & Fallout

Just about every shade in this palette is highly pigmented. There’s only one shade that I find more difficult than the others to build up, and that’s Babe, the pink satin shade in the top row. The matte shades are especially pigmented and all pop on the eye. They’re really a dream to work with!

Everything blends together beautifully for me and I’ve had ZERO fallout on my under eye area when applying shades from this palette. There is the tinniest amount of kick-up in the pan.

ColourPop SHE Palette Swatches & Review

ColourPop She Palette

*All shades were swatched without primer.

Top Row: Ladylike, Babe, Dainty, Chick
The top row contains three metallics and one satin shade (Babe)The metallics (ladylikeDainty, & Chick) are very pigmented and make great halo eye shades! Babe is has a more subtle shimmer than the metallics. As I said above it’s a bit harder to work with than the rest of the top row but it’s buildable.

ColourPop SHE Palette Swatches & Review

Middle Row: Mademoiselle, Gal, EmpressFilly
When I swatched this row of  metallics my first thought was “daaang”. They swatched so beautifully! My personal favourites are Empress & Filly. You guys know I love my copper shades!

ColourPop SHE Palette Swatches

Bottom Row: DearMissyDamselDuchess
This is the matte row. They apply one heck of a lot nicer than they swatched on my arm! Every shade is pigmented, buildable, and pops on the eye. Duchess looks bolder on the eye than in swatches. Even Damsel, the dark purple shade applies well which has been hard for me to find in the purple range.

Because so many of the shades are metallic I have a tendency to create bolder looks with this palette than I would with a lot of other palettes I own. Even the matte shades are very vibrant and pigmented. For me this is more of a night time palette and not something I would reach for often when creating a daytime eye look. If bold is your jam I give this palette two thumbs up! The ColourPop She Palette is affordably priced, pigmented, and blendable. Above are three eye looks I created using the She palette.

Have you tried ColourPop Eyeshadow?

I have this palette but I have really only used it once. I think I’ll be more tempted to play with it once spring rolls around! I love your eye looks!

Haha yeah, it’s hard to think about pink shaded in the winter. I hope you like it when you do start playing with it more! And thank you! 😊

I have You Had Me at Hello. But I’ve been eyeing up Yes Please for a while 🙂

I’ve not tried Colourpop yet but I always hear great things about them. This is a really good review. I agree about there not being a light matte eyeshadow or base colour. Although I have a lot of eyeshadow palettes, I usually just expect one in each. But overall the colours look amazing and no fall-out is perfect! 🙂

    • January 5, 2018 / 8:21 pm

I’m glad you enjoyed the review 😊 I’m surprised that there wasn’t a base shade, I don’t think I own any other palettes that don’t have one. At least all the shades included are easy to work with! Thanks for reading!

I’ve heard that the Colourpop shadows are small, which surprised me since they don’t LOOK small in photos – but I guess it’s hard to tell unless you have a frame of reference. Either way, most people don’t go through an entire palette so I never feel like the size matter too much.
This palette is really gorgeous! And as always, you created some beautiful looks with it. The shade Dainty is calling out to me!

    • January 5, 2018 / 8:28 pm

It’s so hard to tell from photos! They aren’t big palettes but they aren’t quite mini either. That’s very true, the only palette I’ve hit pan on is three years old so size isn’t a big issue.
Thank you! I am in love with those purple shades. Dainty is really pretty!

Well isn’t she just beautiful! You’ve sealed the deal on my need for this palette! Loved the swatches!
