I was rather surprised about that. These palettes are completely different in my opinion. The Give it To Me Straight palette is in a mauve & copper colour family while the Double Entendre Palette leans orange & gold and is overall more neutral. I wanted to share a direct comparison between these palettes for everyone who has been wanting a break down of the two palettes. I won’t be comparing packaging because you can tell just from looking at both palettes that the packaging designs are different. You can shop both palettes Here!

ColourPop Give It To Me Straight vs. Double Entendre:
As I said, the Give It To Me Straight Palette is definitely more mauve than the Double Entendre Palette. Both palettes are warm but I would say that the Give It To Me Straight Palette is slightly cooler than the Double Entendre Palette with the addition of the purple shades. The shades in the Double Entendre palette tend to pull extra warm against my pale skin. Even though the description claims that the DE palette contains both warm & cool shades I don’t find this to be the case.
The looks that I get with each palette are very different. I find the Give it to me straight palette leads to looks that are soft & romantic while the Double Entendre palette gives me looks that are more bronzed & understated. The Double entendre palette is what I reach for when I want something simple for work, but the Give it To Me Straight is what I use when I want to look extra cute!
ColourPop’s pressed powder shadow formula is pretty consistent across palettes. There’s only one main difference between the finishes in the two eyeshadow palettes: The GITMS palette contains only matte & metallic shades while the DE palette contains mattes, metallics & one satin shade. I hate ColourPop’s satin formula so for me the satin shade in the DE palette is unusable.
Besides that I think the formula is very consistent between both pressed powder palettes.
These swatches are swipe pigmentation on my arm. I didn’t use a primer but a primer will bump up the intensity a lot. You can see that the colour stories would work well together, but DE is more orange and GITMS has more mauve.
Which Palette Is Better?
My personal opinion is that Give It To Me Straight is the better palette out of the two. Give it To Me Straight just seems more versatile to me. I can create so many more looks with it than I can with the DE palette. The purple shades are stunning and pair surprisingly well with the copper shades. I especially love the shade BS with it’s gold glitter.
The Double Entendre Palette is neutral and frankly kind of boring to me these days. If you’re a makeup collector like me chances are that you have several if not more neutral palettes already, so the DE is really not a necessity unless you’re lacking the orange transition shades in your collection. If I was going to recommend a neutral palette from ColourPop my choice would be the Brown Sugar Palette hands down. I included it in my Best Makeup of 2018 for a reason, I’m obsessed with it.
That being said I do like using the DE Palette in conjunction with more colourful palettes. I have a few palettes that lack transition shades so if warm transition shades are something that you need the Double Entendre Palette has you covered.
If you’re trying to decide between the two I would 100% go with the GITMS Palette over the DE, but you know your own makeup collection better than I do. Maybe you already have ten mauve palettes, and in that case the DE would be the better choice.
