Hey beauties!! After posting such a large ColourPop Haul recently is it really any surprise that I have a review today? I’ve been testing out a ton of new products and one of my favourites so far has been the ColourPop Lippie Tint lip crayons. These products were originally called “Lippie Tints”… now they’re just called Lip Crayons. I don’t know why ColourPop changed it but it’s certainly annoying to change a product’s name only a few weeks after release.
The Lippie Tint Lip Crayons aren’t a full lipstick nor are they a balm. They’re a buildable, creamy & hydrating middle ground that can leave you with the sheerest colour or be built up the the same pigmentation as a lipstick. I’m currently obsessed with these lipstick-balm hybrids and I can’t wait to tell you why!

ColourPop Lip Crayon Review
When all you need is just a tint. This comfy, hydrating lip tint adds the perfect sheer wash of colour to create healthy, glowy lips — ColourPop
ColourPop’s Lip Crayons are currently available in 12 shades. Each individual Lippie Tint/Lip Crayon retails for $7USD and contains 2.1g of product. To compare with CP’s other lip products their Lippie Stix typically contain 1g of product for $6, while the Lux Lipsticks contain 3.5g of product for $7.50.
Lux Lipsticks are the best value for your money but the formula is very different from the Lippie Tints.
The Lip Crayon Formula contains Passion Fruit Oil, Coconut Oil, Marula Oil, and Shea Butter for hydration and claims to have a glossy finish.
First things first, I love to talk about packaging! The ColourPop Lip Crayons definitely borrow from the Clinique Chubby Stick idea. I’ve never used them before but I can see the similarities. I Love that the crayons are shaped with a triangular point and that they twist up. No sharpening needed!
Each Lip Crayon has a cap. If you push down on it it will click which will prevent it from falling off in your purse, makeup bag, etc. Each tube is coloured the same as the product inside.
I LOVE that ColourPop is starting to add fragrance to their products. My first high end eyeshadow palette was the Too Faced Chocolate Bon Bons palette and I was floored back then that it actually smelled like chocolate. Mmmm, chocolate…
I didn’t realize that the Lippie Tint crayons were scented when I bought them. They smell like tropical fruit! I know it’s something I’ve had before in Hawaii, I think it might be guava, or passion fruit? No matter, they smell FANTASTIC!
Even my husband came over to kiss me because he said my lips smelled so good. If that’s not high praise I don’t know what is! They’re quite fragrant, the smell lingers for about 15 minutes after applying. It’s not terribly long lasting after that point though.
*My ColourPop sense is tingling… my prediction for 2019/2020 is that they will branch into fragrance. It seems like a logical step for them now that Sol Body is focusing on delicious smelling body oils, and ColourPop now has scented lip products. Why not? I’d wear this scent!
The first thing that I can confirm about the ColourPop Lip Crayons is that they are. in fact, hydrating. All those oils infused into the product help it to glide across my lips like butter. They don’t settle into lines at all either which is a huge bonus.
I was expecting a finish similar to the Clinique Almost Lipstick, which is essentially a tinted balm. I was not expecting how buildable the pigment of the Lippie Tints would be! The swatches on ColourPop made them look much more sheer than a regular lipstick but you can honestly build these up to the pigment of a lippie stix or lux lipstick. The finish will be softer, but the pigment is there.
ColourPop says the lippie tints have a glossy finish but I disagree. The finish is soft and creamy but doesn’t cross over into lip gloss territory.
Maui Wowie is exceptionally pigmented, but I never feel like I need a mirror to apply it. I just swipe it on once or twice and rub my lips together. Bam, pink lips! The color doesn’t bleed or feather and the formula is super comfortable all day.
Maui Wowie is super long wearing on me for a balm type product. It actually faintly stains my lips pink, so as the lippie tint fades I’m still left with color on my lips. This is a shade that I would wear out for drinks, or to a luau! I generally start to notice fading around the 3 or 4 hour mark but because of the stain it leaves behind I don’t need to reapply until around the 5 or 6 hour mark.
Cherry Pickin’ has a much quicker and natural fade to it. It’s still beautifully pigmented but it does wear away with a bit of food & drink and needs to be reapplied. If I’m not eating or drinking I get about 3 hours wear out of this one. Since I don’t need a mirror I reapply if my lips start feeling dry. Cherry Pickin’ has been living in my purse and my front pocket since the day I got it. It’s one of my favourite nude lip colors right now!
Have you tried the ColourPop Lippie Tint lip crayons?
Normally I would share a pros and cons list but there is literally nothing wrong with this product. I love the packaging, the scent, the shade selection, and the formula. I’ve got nothing for cons. Now I need to collect all the shades!
