Hello everyone! Today’s post is another instalment in my Break it Down series where I talk about a new & upcoming full makeup collection and discuss whether or not I think it’s worth it. I’ve done two of these posts so far, starting with the Kylie Cosmetics Valentine’s Day Collection and more recently the ColourPop x Zoella collection. I wasn’t planning on writing another Break It Down post so soon but then ColourPop went and announced their full spring collection. Surprise surprise, more ColourPop.
I won’t be using this series to preview individual products, but rather collections as a whole. Most of ColourPop’s seemingly random releases will get reviewed under the ColourPop Reviews tab on my blog separately but since this is a FULL collection… let’s talk about it!

Break it Down: ColourPop Spring Collection 2019
The 2019 Spring Collection from ColourPop launched on March 14th and contains a twelve pan eyeshadow palette, six Jelly Much shadows, six lux lipsticks, and six super shock blushes. The full collection retails for $143USD but of course you can buy all the products individually or in smaller sets.
I must say that the packaging really gets me. Normally Spring is my least favourite season but after the long and harsh winter we just had in Canada (polar vortex anyone?) I’m ready to see some blooming flowers and wear some peachy corals on my eyes.
Sweet Talk Eyeshadow palette
When I first saw the ColourPop Sweet Talk Eyeshadow Palette I though oh great, another one. But the more I looked the more I wanted it. Funny how that happens right? This palette is full of peachy shades that I probably already have (hello Too Faced Peachy Matte Palette) BUT they just look so pretty together with that orange & yellow shade. UGH ColourPop why are you doing this to me!?
I was excited when I found out that this is the first ColourPop eyeshadow palette to contain the super shock shadow formula! I’m a little bit worried about the shades drying out in palette form (I’m still checking my Dream Sequence Highlighter palette for signs of that) but I’m also intrigued. The palette will also include pressed glitters for the first time as well as their regular pressed powder matte & metallic shadows.
The Sweet Talk palette is a little more expensive than ColourPop’s other 12-pan palettes. Sweet Talk retails for $18USD and doesn’t contain a mirror. The super shock shadow contains 1.45g of product, the pressed powder shadows contain 0.9g and the pressed glitters contain 1g each. The palette as a whole contains 11.55g of product which is MORE than their standard palettes which typically contain 10.2g. The higher pricing of the Sweet Talk palette makes sense because the originals worked out to $1.568/g while this new palette works out to $1.558/g. the difference is within one cent, rounded.
Will I purchase: Yes! I ordered it to the post office so that it doesn’t show up at the old house after we move. I can’t wait! It’s going to be ColourPop month over here in April.
Spring 2019 Jelly Much Shadows
I haven’t been all that interested in ColourPop’s Jelly Much Shadows from the start. I included them in my Fall Anti-haul last year and my stance on them still stands. I prefer eyeshadows, not liquid or jelly shadows. It’s just my preferred medium to work with. The shades do look pretty for those of you who like the formula!
The Spring 2019 Jelly Much Shadows can be purchased individually for $8USD. Each pot contains 6.5g of product for a total of $1.23/g.
Will I purchase: Nope!
Spring 2019 Lux Lipsticks
There are six Lux Lipsticks in the Spring 2019 Collection. They come in the cream formula which I preferred over the matte formula. I picked up a few lux lipsticks in my no filter foundation haul and I ordered another from the Brown Sugar Collection after falling in love with the Brown Sugar Palette.
I’m not the biggest fan of Lux Lipsticks for daily wear but I like them for pairing with my makeup looks for my eyeshadow palette reviews. The shades are pigmented and comfortable, I just never find the formula to last all that long. I still went ahead and ordered the second shade from the top, Flower SZN because I’ve been wanting a hot pink coral shade for spring.
All six lipsticks can be purchased together in the You Make Me Smile set for $42USD, or individually for $7USD (3.5g at $2/g)
Will I purchase: Yes! I picked up one shade and might get more at a later date.
Spring 2019 Super Shock Blushes
The Super Shock Blushes from this collection look really cute! They come in such beautiful pops of orange and coral pink. I have tried their Super Shock Shadows and Super Shock Highlighters. I love anything in the super shock formula with a metallic or glitter finish, but I wasn’t the biggest fan of the matte shadows. I’m not sure if I’ll like the blushes for that reason but I went ahead and ordered the peachy blush at the very top of the photo.
Will I purchase: Already did!
I feel MUCH more positive about this collection than I did about the Zoella collection. The packaging is back to normal and not overly cutesy like Zoella’s was and the products actually appeal to me. Now that it’s not 30 below I’m starting to think that Spring is coming afterall and this collection amplifies the feeling. The Spring collection feels flirty and sweet to me and I need more of that in my life right now with how insane my life has been. I’m here for all the pretty, happy things.
Are you picking up anything from the Spring Collection?
Stay tuned for my haul when it eventually does arrive! I’d love to hear your thoughts on this collection or any of ColourPop’s releases in general lately. There have been too many to count. I hope Spring finds you wherever you are (except for Australia & NZ, you guys already had it!). Talk soon x
