ColourPop Sweet Talk Palette Review + 4 Looks

The ColourPop Sweet Talk palette is possibly one of the prettiest Spring palettes that I’ve seen in 2019. The first time I saw it online I wasn’t entirely sold, but the more I looked at it the more appealing the Sweet Talk Palette Looked. After this freezing cold Canadian winter I’m really in the mood for some soft floral living coral shades. The Sweet Talk Palette contains two brand new pressed glitter shades which is something that ColourPop has never done before, AND it contains a super shock shadow in palette form. When I found out about the brand new formulas I just had to try them!

ColourPop Sweet Talk Palette Review + 4 Looks

ColourPop Sweet Talk Palette Review

We won’t blame you if this becomes your new fave – create looks from soft, everyday eyes to your ultimate Spring Fling Queen glam! When you feel pretty, we feel pretty. — ColourPop

The ColourPop Sweet Talk Palette is the first ever ColourPop Pressed Powder Palette to contain 4 different eyeshadow finishes: Matte, Metallic, Super Shock and Pressed Glitter.

The Sweet Talk palette is a little more expensive than ColourPop’s other 12-pan palettes at $18USD but it contains more product. The super shock shadow contains 1.45g of product, the pressed powder shadows contain 0.9g and the pressed glitters contain 1g each. The palette as a whole contains 11.55g of product which is more than their standard 12-pan palettes which contain 10.2g. The higher pricing of the Sweet Talk palette makes sense because the originals worked out to $1.568/g while this new palette works out to $1.558/g.

You can shop the palette Here.

Colourpop Spring Collection | Sweet Talk Palette Packaging

Okay this packaging is soooo gorgeous!! I’m obsessed with the entire ColourPop Spring 2019 Collection just for the packaging alone. It’s sweet and floral with a touch of elegance and I can’t look away. The Sweet Talk Eyeshadow Palette doesn’t contain a mirror but it makes up for it with how pretty it is. A mirror is nice but not a necessity

The cardboard packaging and the palette itself have the same aesthetic but the designs are different. I will be keeping both! The cardboard is too pretty to throw away. You can check out my Spring ColourPop Haul to see the packaging of the lipsticks and blushes in the Spring Collection, they’re very well done.

Sweet Talk Palette Color Story

Colour Story

I’ve heard people say that the Sweet Talk Palette isn’t anything special and I can see where they’re coming from. It is just pinks and neutrals with a few glittery shades. I purchased it because I was curious about the pressed glitter formula, not necessarily for the palette as a whole. Now that I have it in my hands I’m reconsidering that thinking. I know that it’s not necessarily unique and I could probably dupe a lot of these shades but they’re so perfectly arranged and the palette is so cohesive that I just love it! Even without the glitter shades I think that all of these shades are elegant and sweet and I can’t stop reaching for it.

The super shock shadow Side2Side doesn’t have a ton of colour to it. It’s more of an ethereal glitter finish but I love it! I’ve been wearing it all over the lid with one or two transition crease shades and it’s literally been my go-to look all week. Sometimes I even wear it on its own.

Sweet Talk Palette Review

Pigmentation, Blend & Fallout

The formula of the pressed powder metallic & matte shades in the Sweet Talk Palette is top notch. I’ve been experimenting with different eyeshadow formulas on and off but whenever I go back to a ColourPop palette I’m almost surprised by how smooth the formula is. Even the lightest shades in the palette are pigmented and the blend like an absolute dream.

The Super Shock Shadow, Side2Side, feels wet to the touch and adds a beautiful ethereal sparkle as an eye topper. It also looks gorgeous on it’s own. I’m glad they they included a glittery super shock shadow instead of a matte formula. I’ve tried a few individually and the glitter finishes are by far my favourite.

The mattes & metallics don’t have too much fall out, nor does the Super Shock. The glitter finishes are another story though…

ColourPop Sweet Talk Palette Review

NEW ColourPop Pressed Glitter Formula

These pressed glitters are NEW and are making an appearance in the Sweet Talk palette! I didn’t want to include the pressed glitters under the previous heading because I felt like these glitters are so different from the other shadows. I used these once or twice just over top of an eyeshadow primer and they were messy and hard to control. After that bad experience I went out and bought a glitter glue. I wanted to give these pressed glitters the best possible shot to perform well before posting my review.

I used the Essence Glitter glue as my glitter base. The glitters adhered to the glue much better than I expected them too. The shade Prima Drama is chunky and the glitter flecks are huge, so no matter what I did they looked bling-y and inappropriate for literally anything I was doing that day. The yellow glitter, Early Mornin’ is finer and worked better for me. I still wouldn’t wear it to work but I might for a night out.

Overall I wasn’t wowed but I’m going to chalk that up to me not being a glittery person. I generally like sparkly super shock shadows (like Side2Side from the Sweet Talk Palette) but chunky glitter flecks aren’t my thing. If you don’t mind so much and are comfortable with wearing glitter I think you’d really like ColourPop’s pressed glitters.

ColourPop Sweet Talk Palette Swatches

Sweet Talk Palette Swatches

I used the cutest Polished Vino swatch stencils I could find, these heart swatches are so adorable! I combined the glitter shades into one swatch, otherwise I couldn’t fit all the shades on my arm. The Super Shock Shadow & Pressed Glitters are underlined. Here are the shades as described by ColourPop:

Catch Me: matte pastel peach
Side2Side: warm champagne with silver and pink glitter
Garden Date: metallic coral with a gold sheen
Work It: soft matte yellow orange

Prima Drama: pale rose gold glitter with a copper and gold duochrome shift
Early Mornin’: marigold glitter
Meadow: matte true coral
Dream Maker: matte soft coral

ICYMI: matte dirty terracotta
Melody: metallic rose with a gold flip
West Side: matte camel
Feel Free: rich matte bordeaux

Sweet Talk Palette Makeup Looks

Look #1

This look is craaazy pink. Pink all through the crease, then pink glitter all over the lid! I used Essence glitter glue and the pressed glitter Prima Drama but the texture wasn’t exactly what I was looking for. The glitter is so chunky! In person it was a little too much and I had to remove my eye makeup before work, which resulted in me looking like a glitter bomb went off on my face. The glitter is NOT easy to remove without getting it everywhere!

The glitter looks pretty in the photo but trust me, it was over the top in person.

Lipstick: Too Faced Mini Melted Matte Lipstick in Pumpkin Spice

Sweet Talk Palette | Spring Makeup

Look #2

This second look was more subtle. I used the peachy mattes Work It and West Side for my crease and the pink metallic shade Garden Date all over my eyelids. These soft pink shades give me all the Spring feels! This look is simple and toned down enough for work, but if I had wanted to make it more neutral I would have used the shade Melody instead of Garden Date.

Lipstick: ColourPop Lux Lipstick in Flower SZN

Look #3

My go to Sweet Talk Palette makeup look is very simple. I press the super shock shadow Side2Side all over my eyelids, then add some brown eyeliner and mascara. It’s basic but hey, it works! It’s so crazy to me uploading a look without false lashes. Now that I photograph with them I think that natural lashes look so bare. But it’s the way I go about my day so whatever.

Lipstick: ColourPop Lux Lipstick in Brick

Sweet Talk Early Morning Glitter Makeup Look

Look #4

I had to show off the second pressed glitter in the Sweet Talk Palette. The yellow glitter is finer than Prima Drama and looks much nicer on the eyes in my opinion. After being really unhappy with the pink glitter Early Mornin’ was a pleasant surprise. You can check out my YouTube Channel for the tutorial on this look!

Bottom Line

The bottom line is that that the CP Sweet Talk Palette is good. The shadows perform really well for the most part, my only complaint is that Prima Drama is so chunky. Glitter isn’t for me, but it was fun trying it out for the sake of this review.

A lot of my looks have turned out somewhat similar, which is to be expected when most of the shades are in the same colour family. I don’t regret my purchase but I can see how that could be a deal breaker for some people.

Did you pick up the ColourPop Sweet Talk Palette?

Thanks for reading, I hope my Sweet Talk Palette Review was helpful to you! I had a lot of fun coming up with these looks. I need to get a ring light sooner or later so I can move into my actual office for filming/taking photos, for now everything will be photographed in my bathroom because that’s where the lighting is best. 4 Looks with the ColourPop Sweet Talk Palette

Gorgeous!! πŸ’—All of your makeup looks came out so beautiful. My favorite is #4!! I’m gonna have to pick this palette up. The packaging is so gorgeous. I definitely agree that the colors are not necessarily unique, but they’re stunning. Also the color story does look really cohesive! I feel like this would be a great palette for someone who’s maybe just starting out with makeup or is looking for an everyday palette with a little bit of glam. A very detailed and helpful review (as always), Cleia! Loved this! x

Thanks Nunzia! πŸ’• This palette is so perfect for Spring! I hope you love it if you do pick it up 😊 Thanks for reading!

  2. April 19, 2019 / 8:22 pm

Your bathroom has great lighting because these photos turned out so good!! I agree that the shades in this palette look amazing together even if they aren’t super unique. How cool that there were so many different finishes included, too.

I am in love with Look #4!! It’s gorgeous!!

    • May 2, 2019 / 9:56 pm

Thank you! Yeah there are quite a few lightbulbs on the track lighting above the mirror, and then there’s a window that I can open to get more light!
I hope they keep making innovative new formulas, it keeps their palettes interesting for me.

Thank you! That’s my favourite look to πŸ™‚

  3. April 16, 2019 / 11:43 am

I think this palette looks beautiful. Like you said there are a lot of dupes in these shades, most of which I probably own. I think I really wanted this palette mainly for the packaging. It was so beautiful, but I probably won’t get this palette myself. I am a huge fan of glitters though, so I probably wouldn’t have an issue with using them. I’ll probably get to use the formula in one of their palettes eventually! Great post xx

I’m torn, I know it’s not the most unique palette but at the same time I really like it! I’m still reaching for it even after writing the review πŸ™‚
I think that ColourPop just released a few glitter singles, so even if you don’t want a full palette you can try them out at some point!
      Thanks for reading!

      • April 19, 2019 / 9:29 am

I believe you, I think if I were to get it I would use it a lot too! Since I’m trying not to buy any makeup, I won’t get anything unless I actually need it or if it’s super special!
And thanks for the heads up! πŸ™‚ x

  4. April 14, 2019 / 6:38 pm

Totally agree about the glitters, they need a glitter glue and flake like crazy when you’re picking them up from the pan.

I’ve seen a few tutorials where people didn’t use a glue and I don’t know how that would ever work πŸ˜…

      • April 18, 2019 / 8:59 am

Huh, I haven’t tried it without a glue or wet base but I would think it would just fall straight off and get everywhere.

        • April 23, 2019 / 3:06 pm

          That’s what I thought too!

  5. April 12, 2019 / 9:54 pm

Such a pretty palette! As usual, I loved the looks you came up with!

such a pretty palette but i’ve found that a lot of the shades are similar so that’s why i don’t see myself purchasing this palette. love that they included the pressed glitter shades !

    • AlwaysCleia
      April 18, 2019 / 1:39 am

Yes a lot of them are so I totally understand that. The glitter shades are super fun! They’ve come out with a few glitter singles so if you wanted to try them you don’t need to buy the full palette πŸ™‚

  7. April 12, 2019 / 5:41 pm

I can’t decide whether my favourite look you did is #1, #2 or #4! The packaging of the palette and the Spring collection is so beautiful πŸ™‚ enjoy creating more looks with the palette!

      April 18, 2019 / 1:32 am

These colors go together so well, I love everything! I’ve been using the palette non stop since it arrived πŸ™‚ Thanks! You enjoy your ColourPop haul too!

  8. April 12, 2019 / 5:29 pm

Since I’m on low buy now, I can’t pick this palette up at the moment, but this is definitely on my top top top wish list 😁 I think Colourpop is very smart to put two new formulas on this palette so people still want to buy it even though the color story is pretty neutral. For me personally, this palette really screams spring, and the packaging is to die for 😍 I’m also excited to try the pressed glitter because I never try any glittery products before and this could be a good start for me! The looks you created are gorgeous! 😍 Can’t wait to the time I can get my hands on this palette!

    • AlwaysCleia
      April 12, 2019 / 9:29 pm

I’m sure it will be around for a while! ColourPop doesn’t typically discontinue things that quickly, unless it’s part of their holiday collections.
The packaging is so gorgeous!! I probably would have bought it for the packaging alone even if I didn’t like the colour selection haha
That was my thinking too! This is my first time EVER wearing glitter and even though it didn’t work out as well as I hoped it was still fun for me. Just try them out on a day you don’t have to go everywhere, it’s hard to get all the glitter off.
Thanks for reading, I hope you can get your hands on the sweet talk palette soon!

      • April 18, 2019 / 2:25 am

Oh thank you for letting me know that the glitter is hard to take off! Now I know what to expect πŸ™‚

  9. April 12, 2019 / 9:57 am

This is such a pretty palette with a very sweet colour story, and I’m really glad you enjoyed it overall! I absolutely love the looks you did with it. The fourth one is my favourite, but they’re all beautiful!

I was one of those people who were not interested in this palette when it was first released even though I thought it was beautiful, but after seeing the first wave of rave reviews, I’ve been like “damn I kind of wish I bought it!” Ultimately I think I still won’t pick it up though (as long as I can keep my resolve lol)…the practical side of me knows I’m not going to end up using the pressed glitters often, and like you said in your post, I think the shades will look even more similar to one another on my darker skin tone. Guess I will just admire from afar!

    • AlwaysCleia
      April 12, 2019 / 9:27 pm

I was surprised at how well the glitter photographed in that last look! It looks so much more extra in person than on camera lol
It was fun trying out the pressed glitters.

I can’t really say that this palette is a necessity, it really is lovely for Spring but I don’t think you’re missing anything that you can’t dupe from your existing collection. I don’t regret buying it but a lot of the shades are already pretty similar. Plus you have similar pinks in the Chasing Rainbows palette already! Thanks for reading πŸ™‚

  10. April 12, 2019 / 9:17 am

I just got my package and I loveeeee the look of the palette the packaging is so pretty and floral and spring-like! Good to know that the formulas are good, and yes I can see why people might say it’s nothing new, but the colour story really spoke to me lol.
I did notice that one shade looks chunky I’ll have to see how I like it lol.

    • AlwaysCleia
      April 12, 2019 / 9:23 pm

Yay! That’s so exciting! I’m glad you love the packaging, it’s so pretty! The design team was brilliant with this collection. I hope you like the palette as much as I do.
Is that the Prima Drama Glitter? I hope you’re able to work with it. Thanks for reading!

      • April 16, 2019 / 11:30 pm

yeah when I swatched Prima Drama I was like “aahhhh” LOL it’s the chunkiest. The palette as a whole looks great. I can’t wait to film a few videos this week but my schedule is tight tight right now. LOL

        • AlwaysCleia
          April 18, 2019 / 1:53 am

Seriously! They could have made the glitter a tiny bit smaller πŸ˜‚ Ugh my schedule too. I’m three weeks behind in catching up with my YouTube subscriptions, and I have a video that’s only half edited πŸ˜…
I hope you’re able to find time to film this week too!
