ColourPop The Child Palette Review + Swatches + 3 Looks

The Child Palette is freaking adorable! My husband & I received a Disney + subscription for Christmas and we finally watched season 1 of the Mandelorian. I’m a little behind, ok? As soon as I saw Baby Yoda on screen I knew I needed ColourPop’s new Star Wars Palette. I forgot that Star Wars falls under the umbrella of Disney now, so the possibility of a Star Wars palette hadn’t even crossed my mind.

My ColourPop The Child Palette is everything! I haven’t been very enthused about ColourPop’s past Disney collaborations (except for the Frozen collection) but they got this one right!

This monochromatic olive green palette features a range of finishes from matte, metallic, and our iconic Super Shock formula. Create the cutest looks in the galaxy with the fun olives, golds, and neutral tones. — ColourPop

The Child Palette retails for $16 and contains 9 Yoda themed eyeshadows in a mix of matte, metallic and super shock finishes. If you love green eyeshadows you’ll probably love this!

Packaging

How could we not talk about the packaging of The Child Palette? The cardboard design has an adorable Yoda cartoon drawing and the inside has another little cartoon with the words “Cutest in the Galaxy” beside it.

I love that The Child Palette contains a mirror and magnetic closure. I was pretty surprised that it has a mirror considering that this is a 9 pan cardboard palette. It’s usually the plastic palettes from ColourPop that have the mirror in them, so it’s nice to see one in this palette.

Colour Story

Obviously ColourPop’ Child palette contains mostly green shades, being Yoda/Star Wars themed and all. The greens lean to the Olive side of green, which is a-ok with me. When I reviewed the Just My Luck green monochromatic palette I was disappointed that the green shades were mostly minty green, so The Child palette features something new for me that I didn’t already have.

The colours range from rich, olive to lighter frosty green. There’s also a dark, rust brown which reminds me of Mando’s armour at the beginning of the series. I can use the lighter shimmers and super shocks as inner corner highlights, and create depth with the dark green & browns. The colours included feel pretty complete to me, there’s nothing that I would have changed.

I love that all the shade names represent The Mandelorian. ColourPop usually names their eyeshadows in a way that doesn’t represent the colours you’re seeing but all the shade names really do fit the series.

Baby Yoda Eyeshadow Palette

Pigmentation, Fallout & Blend

I felt like a kid in a candy store the first time I played with The Child Palette. I love all the Yoda themed colours, and the textures apply beautifully. The pigmentation isn’t lacking at all. The Just like a Tatooine & Droid Protocol mattes feel extra buttery to me and blend really nicely

The shade Little Frog doesn’t blend quite as nicely as the other mattes in the palette, but it’s still useful. I found that it made a great darker shade to help a cut crease pop. I would have liked to see it diffuse a little more, but it was pretty much married to wherever I placed it.

The shimmers and super shock shadows in ColourPop’s Baby Yoda palette are incredible! The formula is so smooth, and the fallout I saw while using them was pretty minimal. I’m not 100% sure that the palest shade Precious Cargo is considered a super shock, but it has the same wet feel imo. The Force is absolutely stunning, as you’ll see in my swatches below!

In terms of quality The Child Palette is top notch. I’m obsessed and so happy I decided to pick it up!

I can’t get over how much I love these colours! All the green tones speak to my soul and I love that there are a couple warm brown tones to go with the greens. I find the Monochromatic palettes from ColourPop very limiting. I found that my eyeshadow looks using their monochromatic schemes tended to look alike. There’s a lot of variety within the green color family here and having the gold, rust and orange shade adds versatility.

The Child Palette Makeup Looks

Look #1: I have Spoken

If you haven’t watched the first season of The Mandelorian then the names of my looks won’t make a whole lotta sense. My husband & I have been quoting Kuiil at each other since we watched it together. “I have spoken” the ultimate argument decider.

This green cut crease turned out better than I expected considering it’s been months since I did one! I love the way the orange shade like a tattooine looks in the crease. Green & orange isn’t a combination I would have thought to try had they not been in the same palette together.

The Child Palette Makeup Look

Look #2: This is the Way

I’m absolutely obsessed with this green & gold eyeshadow look. The Child palette has some really pretty super shock shadows, like that gold shade in the center of my eyelids. It catches the light when I turn my head and looks really cool on the eyes!

Look #3: I like those odds

This was my wearable everyday look with The Child Palette. With a colour story so green oriented I wanted to show that you can get an easy everyday look using just a few shades. I used Like a Tatooine, Droid Protocol and Precious Cargo. Super quick and easy!

I also added on some smudgey smokey eyeliner cause I’m into that grunge look these days.

ColourPop The Child Palette - Baby Yoda

Did you buy the ColourPop Baby Yoda/The Child palette?

If you’ve been on the fence about it I give it a full endorsement. I’m truly loving this palette, and it’s been a long time since I’ve felt that way about a new ColourPop release! If you love greens it contains some icier green tones that you may not already have, plus some beautiful olive tones.

Thanks for reading! x

The packaging is super cute, I know how much you like green eyeshadows, so I’m glad the palette performs really well! Green eyeshadows don’t really look that good with my skin tone, so I’m going to skip this one, but great post 🙂 xxx

I love it! This is my favourite Colourpop palette that came out last year. Greens can be tricky! Thanks for reading x

LOL I think I commented on your IG post yesterday that I wasn’t as attracted to this palette for some reason, as much as I like the SW franchise and all. But you’re totally selling it to me right now XD
The green shades are soooo meeeeeee 😀 <3

Lol!! Green shades are fantastic! I love the palette, but I probably wouldn’t reach for it everyday just because I’m wearing more neutrals to work 😅 Glad I could change your mind though! 😂

I love how green is making more of an appearance these days! Off the top of my head, I know Jeffree Star released a palette last year that had a lot of green and of course, Kylie Jenner released her Grinch inspired Christmas palette (though I think there was a lack of green in that from memory?).

This palette looks so cute! Love the packaging. The greens are totally unique too.

I’ve seen a ton of green releases lately too! Violet Voss just came out with an olive palette, it looks so pretty 😍
I think there was only one or two green shades in the Kylie palette 😆 I don’t remember either though.

      Thanks for reading! 💚

I know I said this before, but that is the cutest palette art I’ve ever seen! Love those shades, and the looks you created are all gorgeous!

I agree! I love the packaging even more than the frozen collection 😊 Thanks for reading! x

The greens in this palette are very pretty and wearable, this could easily be used to create everyday looks. I haven’t seen this series or watched Star Wars but the packaging of this palette is adorable! Love the first look you did x

It’s a great series! It reminds me a little of Smallville in that each episode is more of a self contained mini story that adds to the overall plot. I’ve really enjoyed it so far 🙂

Thank you so much for watching, I had fun creating these looks!

My husband and I have seen both season 1 & 2, you’ll find out ‘the child’s’ name in the second seasons. Also we my husband like to use the quote, “this is the way”. I don’t have the palette but have seen it everywhere on Social and I absolutely love the looks you created!!

    • January 28, 2021 / 10:36 am

Yes I can’t wait! I need to get started on season 2. That’s a great quote! I saw a face mask on Amazon that said that, I thought it was so clever 😂
Thanks for reading, I’m glad you liked the looks 😊
