December 2017 Empties: Makeup & Skincare

December 2017 Empties

Hey everyone, I hope you enjoyed New Years and Christmas! I decided to take a week off from blogging & instagram last week because life was so hectic. I could tell that I was starting to burn out and I didn’t want to compromise content. Now that I’m back and refreshed I was a bit unsure what to write because I have SO many things to share with you guys! I’m going to start with my December Empties.

December 2017 Makeup Empties

Makeup & Fragrance

Lancôme Grandiôse Liquid Eyeliner
I reviewed this product here. I liked this eyeliner but it costs $40CAD. 😭 I can’t afford to replace it right now so I’m sad the bottle is empty. The applicator bends for easy application and the finish is matte black – no shine! Repurchase? When I win the lottery or get a raise. I can’t justify $40 for an eyeliner.

ABH Brow Wiz Deluxe Sample
I got four or five uses out of this little sample and I am in love. Darn it, this pencil is so expensive! I’ve used the NYX dupe for this pencil and while it’s not quite as good it’s a decent alternative that costs less than half the price of Brow Wiz. I think I’ll be treating myself to a full size of this. Repurchase? Yes, for those on fleek brow days!

Miu Miu Perfume Sample
This perfume one of my favourite Sephora sample discoveries so far. It’s a strong scent though so I can’t wear it to work as we have a no fragrance policy. Repurchase? No, I probably won’t go buy the full size as it’s pretty expensive, but I would choose it as a sample.

December 2017 Skincare Empties

Skincare

Julep Night Shift Sleeping Mask
This took me a year and a half to finish. I reviewed it in 2016 here.  It made my skin feel soft and moisturized in the morning but the cream is so thick that it’s hard to apply without tugging. I liked it at first but I found as time went on I really just got sick of it and wanted to try something new. Repurchase? No.

Simple Micellar Water
I was really disappointed with this micellar water. I still committed to finishing it since it’s not terrible, but it’s no Garnier Micellar Water.
Repurchase? No.

Bioré Pore Strips
I use these if I notice that my nose is starting to get clogged with acne. It’s gross but I really felt like these strips helped pull the whiteheads out of my pores (I warned you). Unfortunately they hurt when I remove them, it’s like ripping a bandaid off. Repurchase? YES.

Jor’El Parker Fango Mud Therapy Mask Mini
I received this over a year ago in my Topox subscription. I’d like to believe that this changed my skin for the better but I really can’t tell. I noticed no significant change in the texture, clarity or appearance of my skin. Repurchase? No.

Caudalie Vine [Activ] Eye Cream
This eye cream does a good job of moisturizing my under eye area. I wish it did a little bit more to target dark circles, as those really show up when I’m tired. Repurchase? Not full size. I would choose it again as a deluxe sample, but I want to try something different to target fine lines.

Drunk Elephant T.L.C. Framboos™ Glycolic Night Serum
This TINY serum worked out to $30CAD in value. I got more uses out of it than I thought I would. This serum is meant to target dullness, uneven skin texture and large pores. I didn’t notice a difference in my skin texture after using this for about a month every second day. I also noticed a disclaimer on the back of the product warning about prolonged use. WHAT. That scares me. Repurchase? No.

Garnier Moisture Bomb
I reviewed this moisturizer here. Moisture Bomb isn’t my favourite moisturizer. I prefer Neutrogena Hydro Boost over Moisture bomb so I’ll be purchasing that next. Repurchase? No.

December 2017 Bath & Body Empties

Degree Motion Sense Dry Spray Deodorant
I normally don’t include deodorant in my empties but I received this in a beauty box at the end of 2016 and I finally got around to trying it. I am fully converted to dry spray deodorant now. I’m a high stress person and as a result I tend to sweat a lot when I’m feeling nervous or in social situations. I would always be embarrassed at work because stick deodorants just didn’t cut it for me, but since switching to dry spray my perspiration has been much more under control. It really helps with self esteem to not have pit stains on all your clothes… Repurchase? YES.

Calgon Hawaiian Ginger Bubble Bath
This is a repeat product for me, I love Calgon bubble bath! It fills the tub with bubbles using half the product required with Bath & Body Works bubble bath and comes in a giant bottle for half the price! Hawaiian Ginger is my favourite Calgon scent but I like to rotate scents once in a while. Repurchase? Already have.

Arbonne Aromassentials Salt Scrub
I’m so happy to be finished this scrub because I had to force myself to use it up . I’ve had this scrub for at least three years. It’s supposed to be a citrus scent but it smells weird to me and it left my skin oily. Repurchase? No!

Dove Regenerative Nourishment Shampoo & Conditioner Minis
I took these on vacation with me in October. I decided I might as well finish them off as they were only half full when we got back. Repurchase? No, they weren’t anything special.

Cake Beauty Supreme Body Mousse
I received a mini of this body lotion in my Spring Luxebox. I really like the scent, it’s subtle and not overpowering. I’ve enjoyed Cake Beauty/Delectable hand creams and lotions in the past and this is no different. Repurchase? I have so many body creams and lotions right now so probably not anytime soon, but I do think it’s worth a purchase.

December 2017 Foil Empties

Foils

Fresh Soy Cleanser Foil
I forgot how much I love this cleanser! It was a breath of fresh air using it, I need to buy this ASAP! Repurchase? YAS.

Nature Recipe Honey Sheet Mask
I received this mask from Ipsy in August. It did a good job of hydrating my skin but I didn’t notice any other benefits. Repurchase? No. There are easier masks for me to acquire without paying for shipping!

Olay Daily Clean 4-in-1 Water Activated Cloths
I got a sample of this cleansing cloth from my Elle Canada Magazine. It did a really good job of removing all of my makeup, though it was really soapy once I added water! I think I still prefer Simple makeup remover wipes though this would be good if I was going away for a weekend and didn’t have space for a lot of skincare. Repurchase? Undecided.

I just switched to the garnier miscellar water, and I didn’t realize what a difference it would make in my skincare game! It’s honestly the best! I will probably never stop buying it. Great post Cleia xxx

Those pore strips are some of my absolute favorites even though they can seriously hurt sometimes. Loved this post!! xx

Thanks for reading! The strips hurt but they fo the job well ☺

I got a sample for the Drunk Elephant TLC Night Serum. I tried it once, but it made my face felt weird and tingly so I washed it off haha! Never noticed anything about a disclaimer though! Although it probably wouldn’t be on a sample.

Haha! I hate when products make your skin feel weird, especially of you aren’t expecting it. I know there’s a lot of hype around the brand but I haven’t really seen why yet.

The Biorè strips are a god send! Something so satisfying about peeling them off! 😂
I never found myself enjoying any of the ‘Simple’ Products. I had their foaming face wash and toner and both were very disappointing. The Bioderma Micellaire water is my favourite of all. I got the (pricier) 500 ml bottle but it’s lasted me over a year 😮

    • January 4, 2018 / 11:11 am

Haha I’ve heard that from other people too! I always remove them slowly because I think it will hurt less but I’m not convinced it does 😅
I like Simple makeup remover wipes, but that’s ot do far. I’ve heard great things about that one!

I’ve been eyeing that Lancôme Grandiôse Liquid Eyeliner… but yes, it’s pricey! I like that they offer it in a brown colour.

I’m SO glad I’m not the only one disappointed by the Simple Micellar water! It doesn’t work and leaves a soapy residue!

Hmm good to know about the Drunk Elephant Glycolic Serum. That particular product isn’t on my radar but in general people rave about that brand.

Now you got me curious about the Calgon Hawaiian Ginger Bubble Bath… I don’t take baths but can I use that as a shower gel?

I’ve drafted up my empties… just need to take pictures! 😛

If only it was cheaper I’d repurchase 😅 I also like that it comes in different shades, I’m so tired of just using black eyeliner.

Me too! I heard from some other bloggers that they liked the micellar water so I was starting to think it was just me. It takes so much longer to remove my make with the Simple one.

I’ve heard so many good things about Drunk Elephant but I think I’ll need to try other products to see what the hype is about.

I think you could, but it’s very thick and bubbly so it might not work the way you want it to. The value is really good for the amount of product you get!

I’ll check out your post once it’s up ☺
