Hey beauties, today we’re talking lip scrubs! Many of you have probably seen the price tags on the lip scrubs you can buy in store. Lush lip scrubs go for around $10, and while it’s nice to treat yourself once in a while it’s not always affordable in the long term. Today I have an easy DIY Lip Scrub you can whip up in your kitchen with minimal supplies.
Ingredients + Supplies
- Coconut Oil
- Brown or Granulated Sugar
- Honey
- Vanilla
- 1 small mason jar or sealable container
FYI you can adjust the measurements to make as little or as much scrub as you want!
Directions
Step 1: Add 2 tbsp of granulated or brown sugar to your choice of container. I prefer brown sugar as it’s a bit less harsh than granulated sugar, but either will do.
Step 2: Add 1/2 tbsp of Coconut oil & 1/2 tbsp of honey to your jar.
Step 3: add 1/8 tsp (about a drop or two) of Vanilla. Alternatively you can add another extract that you prefer, or none at all. I just love the taste of vanilla! Mix thoroughly until blended.
Step 4: Adjust sugar and coconut oil to your preference. If you like a thicker scrub add more sugar, and if it’s too thick for you add a tsp of coconut oil. Seal container. You’re done! Wasn’t that easy!? Make sure to apply with a spatula to keep your jar clean!
As much as I love my store bought products, I also love DIY skincare products. It’s fun and sometimes more affordable to make your own than buy from a store. This DIY lip scrub is no exception, it’s such an easy and inexpensive way to treat yourself!

I have to try this scrub, it sounds like a face scrub I tried a while ago with olive oil, honey, sugar and lemon juice… ok it sounds a little like it haha.
I made a coffee, coconut oil and honey face scrub recently… LOVED it. Coconut oil is taking over.
Haha the honey and sugar are the same. I’ll have to try that!
Coffee makes such great scrubs, I also need to try that. Thanks for reading 😁
You should try it yes, its so nice.
How long does it keep for and how to store it?
I store mine in a sealed mason jar. I don’t personally refrigerate mine but you can if you want, none of the ingredients are things that I typically keep in a fridge. When I make it it normally lasts me for a few weeks.
I’m saving this so I can make my own someday!!
Looks like a great DIY. I can’t justify spending more than $10 on a lip scrub. Fresh’s lip scrubs are like $26! They must be laughing at people all the way to the bank. xo J
Oh dear, $26 for a lip scrub!? No thanks! That makes Lush look so much more affordable!
Thanks for sharing. This sounds easy AND effective
