Last week I blogged about my e.l.f haul that arrived in the mail. I ordered so many items for such a low price and I was over the moon when my big box full of products arrived. I was the most excited for the ELF matte lip colour crayons I ordered, though who am I kidding I was excited for everything!
I don’t see e.l.f. in many of our drugstores in Canada. I finally found an e.l.f. shelf the other day in Old Navy, and it was completely empty. There were maybe two products left on it. Website orders are the way to go, if you missed my haul post you can check it out here along with all the awesome freebies I got with it!
Some products have these ridiculous long names that don’t even really tell you what the product is but this doesn’t mess around with fancy marketing words. It comes in seventeen different shades at the moment and retails for $3 each! I ordered two different shades, Catwalk Orange and Rich Red. It comes as a long stick instead of a typical lipstick tube. The product dispenses when you twist the bottom.
I looove Catwalk Orange. It isn’t really “orange”, it’s more of a peachy-apricot type shade. It’s so gorgeous! The red isn’t bright enough to be considered bold which I’m totally okay with because it makes it a wearable shade for every day.
- Pigmentation is great!
- Simple packaging
- The product itself has a thinner tip so it’s a lot easier to apply evenly and accurately than normal lipsticks, especially on the top lip.
- Doesn’t transfer much
- Matte. I know it looks shiny in the swatch but that was just my lighting being weird.
- Longevity is not as good as it could be. I need to reapply every 2-3 hours, especially after eating
- Dryness. I need to apply a lip balm underneath and sometimes on top or else I go crazy from the dryness
It’s not Mac, but come on, an ELF matte lip colour crayon costs three dollars! I expected less than I got for what I paid and was pleasantly surprised. The sticks are pigmented and gorgeous and very wearable for everyday use. Also e.l.f. is cruelty free.
I received the Moisturizing lipstick as part of a freebie set of six items for spending over $25. They always seems to have free sets available so it’s a good deal! I got the shade Party in the Buff which is a peachy nude. As I said I don’t have very many nude lipsticks so I was happy with the color. To be honest I didn’t really find this any more moisturizing than other lipsticks I’ve tried. It wasn’t as dry as the matte lip colors, but when moisturizing is in the name I kind of expected more (but how much can I really expect from a $3 product right??)
- Great Pigmentation
- Applies smoothly
- Not as moisturizing as expected
- Longevity It lasted a few hours before I needed touchups
- Cakes around dry skin on your lips.
I’m not as impressed with this one. I probably wouldn’t go out of my way to repurchase this lipstick. I’d definitely choose the Matte lip colors over this. I can’t complain too much since this is only $3 and I will probably use it from time to time to switch things up.
Have you tried either of these products? Thanks for reading, please remember to like/follow/comment, I love hearing from you guys!
