FabFitFun Summer Box Review | 2019

Once or twice a year I treat myself to a seasonal box of goodies from FabFitFun. I especially love ordering a Summer FabFitFun Box during the hottest part of the year, the FFF team is awesome at curating relevant boxes to suit each season. You’ve probably seen these boxes featured on social media like facebook and instagram all the time and might be wondering if they’re actually as amazing as they sound. The short answer is YES! I have never been disappointed with a FabFitFun box… but I also check the spoilers ahead of time before reactivating my subscription.

Fabfitfun has also added on customization options in the last year or so that let you choose an item from a variety of choices. Subscribers on the Seasonal plan can customize 3 items in their boxes and annual subscribers can customize everything.

FabFitFun TV

FABFITFUN TV

FabFitFun TV is a collection of fitness & lifestyle videos that subscribers can exclusively access through the FabFitFun website. Think workouts, cooking videos, meditation, etc. FFF is constantly updating the videos available to subscribers. Everytime I reactivate my subscription there’s something new!

FabFitFunTV does add value to the subscription but it’s not something that would make or break my decision to subscribe. I use Fitness Blender for all my workouts and while I don’t mind trying something new once & a while I wouldn’t ever leave the FB Family.

FabFitFun Summer Box Review 2019

2019 FabFitFun Summer Box

2019 Summer FabFitFun Review

The Summer FabFitFun box has a leafy floral design this year. I love how every box is different! The FFF box supports the Eva Longoria Foundation and the Global Giving Foundation this season. I didn’t find the magazine particularly interesting this time around, which is odd for me. I usually enjoy flipping through it!

Annual subscribers are able to customize their entire box but since I’m only a seasonal subscriber my options are a little more limited. I was able to customize three of my products from a set of options in each category. We’ll start with the products that I was able to choose myself through customization…

Sutra Beauty Hair Dryer FabFitFun

Sutra Beauty Marble Blow Dryer | FabFitFun 2019

Sutra Professional Blow Dryer $60USD

I was very excited when I saw that there was a mini blow dryer up for grabs in the Summer FabFitFun Box. I recently upgraded to a Babybliss Nano Titanium hair dryer but it’s full sized and not ideal for travel. Even though I never bother with my hair on vacation it’s nice to have a mini dryer around! They’re nice to have if I go to the hot springs in Winter so I can dry my hair before it freezes on my head.

My revlon hair dryer was starting to short out so I’m replacing it with this cute AF hair dryer from Sutra! I love the marble pattern and that it came with a diffuser nozzle. It does take longer to dry my hair with this Sutra Dryer than my Revlon but it’s not a deal breaker. I wasn’t expecting to use this for everyday, it will be more of a travel option for me!

Subscribers also had the choice of a Spiritual Gangster Floral Kimono Robe, VIX Paula Hermanny Blue Lotus Towel, or a set of the Sol de Janeiro Bum Bum Cream & 4 Play Moisturizing Shower Cream-Gel.

I could have opted to add any of these for $15. That’s gone up from previous boxes, it used to cost only $10 to add on.

111Skin Rose Gold Brightening Sheet Mask

111skin Rose Gold Brightening Face Mask Set $160

The next set of products available for customization was a set of 3 Indigo Tie Dye Bowls from West Elm, a Summer & Rose Navy Diamond Tote, a xoSienna Felt Letter Board or a set of ridiculously expensive sheet masks. I was leaning towards the letter board but then I realized that Quantum would probably eat the letters at some point so that was a bad idea. I still have the tote bag from the 2016 Fabfitfun Summer Box, and while I liked the bowls I didn’t feel overly excited about them.

So I went with the final option, the 111skin Rose Gold Brightening Face Mask set, which apparently retails for $32/mask, or $160 for 6 masks. How ridiculous is that price!? $32 for a single sheet mask? WTF. I was honestly just so shocked by the price tag that I wanted to see what the ridiculous pricing was about! They had better be amazing…

Jennifer Zeuner Double Star Necklace

Jennifer Zeuner Star Double Necklace $69USD

I wish that FabFitFun had a customization option that was all fitness. I hate only having one fitness product to choose from! The fitness choice was the Burn60 Resistance Bands and since I’ve never done a workout with resistance bands I didn’t think I’d use them. I use Fitness Blender for my workouts and they rarely use extra equipment beyond dumbbells.

The next option was a set of Silicone Wine Glasses that left me thinking who asked for this? I just don’t see the appeal, If I’m somewhere where wine will be consumed there are generally wine glasses around — Case and Point: My House. My friends houses. A Restaurant. A Winery? Drinking alcohol in public parks is illegal here so this held no appeal to me.

The option that I chose was the Jennifer Zeuner Star Double Necklace. I’ve enjoyed getting jewellery from FabFitFun over the past few years. I still wear the 8 Other Reasons Nine Lives Rose Gold Choker from the 2017 Winter Box as well as the Lele Sadoughi Silver Circle Pendant Necklace from the 2018 Winter Box. They’re perfect! I love necklaces that have a minimal design.

This necklace from Jennifer Zeuner is yellow gold plated stainless steel and has two delicate stars along the chain. This necklace is so me! I generally wouldn’t go out and spend $50 on jewellery so I love getting pieces like this to style from a subscription.

Living Proof Nourishing Styling Cream

Living Proof No Frizz Nourishing Styling Cream $28USD

I love that there’s so much haircare in my FabFitFun Summer Box! I love getting things like Sea Salt Sprays and hair dryers in my boxes, I rarely buy styling products myself so I appreciate when I get them in a subscription. I’m not sure how well this styling cream will work for me since it functions by “blocking humidity without weighing hair down”. As a lot of you know I live in Alberta, Canada where humidity really isn’t an issue. I hope it goes well anyways!

This is a full sized bottle at 4oz.

Invisibobble Original

Invisibobble Original Duo Pack $16USD

I’ve wanted to try Invisibobble hair ties forever! I don’t really know what to call them since they function like a hair elastic but are made of coiled plastic instead. So far I’m not sure what to think, two turns of the coil isn’t quite tight enough but three feels like it’s about to break. Invisibobbles are supposed to be more traceless in your hair than a hair elastic normally would be.

Generation Clay Violet Brightening Face Mask

Generation Clay Ultra violet Brightening Purple Clay Mask $39USD

Generation Clay is an Australian brand that specializes in natural ingredients. I didn’t link to their site because half of the links direct you to random pop-ups which is sketchy as hell. Clearly they have some issues to work out…

This mask really is purple and I did notice a brightening effect as promised after my first use. The mask dries down like most clay masks but isn’t as uncomfortable as some I’ve tried. It washes off easily with warm water. I’ll definitely be adding this mask into my skincare rotation!

Whish Coconut Milk + Verbena Exfoliating Foot Mask

Whish Coconut Milk + Verbena Exfoliating Foot Mask $32USD

This foot mask is real weird! I thought it would like a foot scrub but it’s just a gel that you rub on your feet, let dry and then rinse off the next morning. It’s kind of sticky, even when dry so I need to wear socks if I’m going to be walking around the house with it on.

I wonder if the exfoliating acids will wear away my socks 🤨 Who knows? It’s not what I expected. My feet did feel nice & soft the next day and as far as I can tell the exfoliation is gentle. I’m not sure if I’m a fan though!

Grace & Stella Spray All Day Rose Facial Spray | Summer FabFitFun

Grace & Stella Rose Facial Spray $25.95

I’m rather sad that I got a rose facial spray instead of the Coola SPF Makeup Fixing Mist that other subscribers received… I’ve wanted to try Coola for so long and I would love to have received SPF in my Summer FabFitFun Box. Rose isn’t my favourite scent. I’m not a fan of the Rose Glow Mist from the Pixi Rose Skintreats line nor am I a fan of the Mario Badescu Rose Spray anymore. I used to enjoy the Mario spray  but as time went on the overwhelming rose scent started to bother me.

The spritzer on this mist doesn’t spray fine particles, it drenches me in droplets! Not good! Maybe it will be nice for those extra hot Summer days but I can’t see myself spraying this over makeup.

In the past I have enjoyed Grace & Stella products, their Anti-Wrinkle + Energizing Eye Masks are my favourite hydrogel under eye masks.

Dr. Rogers RESTORE Balm | FabFitFun Summer Box

Dr. Rogers Restore Healing Balm $30USD

I’m not a fan of these “everything” balms that brands are putting out. I used the one from Cake Beauty for a long time and I was never quite sold on the idea. This Restore Healing Balm is pretty similar. I can see the appeal of it for sure, some of the problems it addresses are eczema, chapped lips, rashes etc. It also says it can be used for healing tattoos, post procedure skin and cuts/scrapes.

I don’t know about you guys though, but personally if I got a cut, scrape or burn I would use Polysporin. Backed by science and has worked for me for years, so why would I change it? Plus this is $30 and Polysporin is like $10.

FabFitFun Summer Box Review 2019

Total Value

My 2019 FabFitFun Summer Box totalled up to $459.95. But let’s be real, the price of those sheet masks are certainly inflated at $160, I would value them at MOST at $80. Even then I think I’m exaggerating. So let’s say my box value is $379.95USD. I paid $60 after shipping so the value is more than six times what I paid for the box! I don’t know how they do it season after season.

Out of 9 products there are only three that I’m not entirely sure about, but I’ll still be using everything. Overall think this is a great Summer box and I don’t regret purchasing it!

Holy crap! Those sheet masks are ridiculously priced. I cannot wait to hear your thoughts on them! The necklace is so pretty but also priced so high lol.

I always wondered about the invisibobbles. I had a feeling they wouldn’t be tight enough!

The everything balms have really been popping up a lot. I don’t look much into ingredients but I’m guessing people are switching from like Poly/Neosporin because of more chemicals & non-cruelty free statuses. Not sure though!!

So awesome how happy you were with this box. It’s totally worth it when most everything works for you. ๐Ÿ™‚

    • June 26, 2019 / 2:21 pm

right!? Way too expensive! I’ve used one so far and while I liked the results I’m still skeptical that they’re worth what they’re priced at…

Yeah they’re a little weird. I find that my pony tail tends to shift on the back of my head when I use the invisibobbles. Like I’ll tie it at the centre of the back of my head and then an hour later it will be more to the left or right, it’s so strange.

I guess so but I dunno, I have no problem with Polysporin! When it comes to infections I would rather trust the products that are backed by science than random balms :S

It’s such a good summer box! I can’t wait for the Fall edit ๐Ÿ™‚ Thanks for reading!

That mini dryer is so cute! Ugh, I canโ€™t seem to get into face masks. I hate that awful drippy texture they have; so wet & slimy! Iโ€™ve been so interested in trying those Invisibobbles too!

    • June 11, 2019 / 8:54 pm

Right!? It takes a long time to dry my hair because of how little it is but it will be useful for travel!

Sheet masks certainly are slimy. My husband always makes fun of me when I wear them and I think my cats are scared of me when I have one on ๐Ÿ˜‚

      • June 12, 2019 / 8:48 am

Iโ€™ve tried to get on board with them since there are sooo many out there, but they just feel uncomfortable to me. I canโ€™t get into it!

  3. June 7, 2019 / 6:46 pm

The marble pattern on that hair dryer is pretty neat, hope it lasts well for you! The star necklace is so pretty, I’m like you and love simple jewellery! How do Invisibobbles not get tangled in the hair?

    • June 11, 2019 / 8:47 pm

I hope so too! I’ll probably be using my babybliss hairdryer more so it will probably last at least a few years.

They sort of do, I’m having trouble figuring out how best to use the invisibobbles ๐Ÿ˜…

      • June 11, 2019 / 11:02 pm

My mum has had her hairdryer for almost 40 years! ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

Invisibobbles remind me of a telephone cord haha

        • June 12, 2019 / 1:39 am

Wow talk about durable! They don’t build things to last anymore these days.

haha I can totally see that!

          • June 12, 2019 / 2:02 am

They definitely donโ€™t – got to make money somehow I guess ๐Ÿ˜‚

  4. June 7, 2019 / 10:10 am

Omg this looks like such a fantastic box! I would love to get it someday!
Love that you got a mini blow dryer! Also, the variety of different kinds of products in this box is awesome, you get a little bit of everything.
Have fun trying your new goodies! ๐Ÿ˜

    • June 7, 2019 / 2:45 pm

It really is! I don’t get every box, normally just one or two a year but it’s a fun box to get in the mail.
I was surprised that there wasn’t any makeup in the box this time around, there’s usually a lipgloss or mascara, but since I got Boxycharm last month I probably didn’t need the makeup anyways!

      • June 10, 2019 / 1:36 am

I wouldn’t care if there was no makeup, I get enough of it from Boxycharm XD
I’m going to look into this box and maybe plan to get the next one.. Would have to cancel my BoxyLuxe though lol

        • June 11, 2019 / 9:02 pm

That’s fair! Boxycharm is overwhelming for me, which is why I only get a box occasionally now. Boxyluxe looks amazing! I wouldn’t mind getting one of those one day

          • June 13, 2019 / 1:08 pm

At some point I will have to stop getting these boxes, but they’re just too good for me to pass up LOL

          • June 17, 2019 / 8:43 pm

Oh I know, I didn’t need Boxycharm or FFF these past few months but I see like one spoiler and I’m in haha
