While I was browsing the internet for things that I shouldn’t buy (as I do) I discovered that Fourth Ray Beauty, ColourPop’s sister brand was having a sale. Fourth Ray’s international shipping costs are what I would consider unreasonably high, at $14.99USD an order. With the sale on and a $5 mailing list sign up code I decided to order a Fourth Ray Beauty Haul. At least the discounts balanced out the shipping cost!
Shipping to Canada seemed to take a lifetime. I’ve noticed that ColourPop and Fourth Ray Beauty are both using RR Donelly, a company with bogus shipping updates and long delivery times. I don’t know if this is a permanent change or just a solution while Canada Post works out it’s issues. I placed my order on December 15th and I was estimated shipping into February. Luckily my products showed up on January 2nd!
I’ve heard pretty good things about Fourth Ray beauty so far, but I wasn’t very interested in trying their original launch. It included a moisturizer, two cleansers, a toner and an acne treatment. What really caught my eye was their newly released Mellow Milk and Matcha Milk. My skin has been so dry that even my creamy cleansers have been stripping my skin into a scaly mess. I’m hoping that the creamy mists and moisture treatments will help! Keep reading to see what all I got in my Fourth Ray Beauty Haul.
Damaged Fourth Ray Beauty Products?
I excitedly unboxed my Fourth Ray order on my instastories. The pink box and stickers they they included are really cute! My Fourth Ray Beauty products came wrapped in black construction type paper, which hid the fact that my face mists had leaked…
It wasn’t horrendous, but the cardboard packaging now has dampened and fraying corners. There were moisture spots over opposite corners of both boxed, so I know it wasn’t just one face mist that leaked. Both caps on my Mellow Mist & Fresh AF mist were loose. The Mellow mist had the most product missing, though I’ll admit there was still a fair amount in the bottle.
Fourth Ray Beauty’s Customer Service
The principal of the thing is that when you pay for something it should arrive intact, end of story. I reached out to Fourth Ray Beauty to see if they would do anything about my leaking face mists. In a way I’m sort of okay with having to go through Customer Service because I can report to you guys on if it’s good or not. Sort of. ColourPop is generally pretty good but I had no idea if Fourth Ray would treat me similarly.
Thankfully their customer service team was very quick to respond. I sent my request in at around 1am (not during business hours) and I had a response by 10am the next day. Fourth Ray beauty is not only replacing the face mists, but they’re sending me replacements of the rest of the products in each set! Not only that, but they are shipping them out at no extra charge. I was really expecting them to offer me a coupon code so I’m impressed that they’re just replacing everything no questions asked.
My packaging may not be completely perfect due to the leaks but my Fourth Ray Beauty products are still useable so let’s get into the products themselves.
The Fourth Ray Beauty Wide Awake Refreshing + Energizing Trio retails for $15USD and contains three products (which is obvious given that this is a trio). According to Fourth Ray Beauty this trio will “refresh and energize tired, dull skin”. The box is so pretty, I couldn’t wait to photograph it! I wasn’t sure what the size quantities of this set would be. When I placed my order couldn’t find the amount of product listed but when I checked recently the quantities were there. I’m not sure if the website was updated or if I was just blind!
The Fresh AF is supposed to hydrate dry skin with Tibetan Ginseng, White Lily, Rose Water, and Cucumber Water. It smells really nice! I’ve mentioned to you guys before how much I love Caudalie Grape Water, but it doesn’t really have a nice smell. The Fresh AF mist however smells absolutely lovely. I will be reviewing all these products for you in a month or so once I’ve seen how they work with my skin. For now I’m planning on using this mist after applying my makeup. This is a 1oz travel size.
I’ve never heard of watermelon seed oil in skincare. In fact I had no idea it was even an ingredient! According to Fourth Ray this oil contains Vitamin A & E and “combats free radical damage, balances sebum production, and provides detoxifying properties.” I’ve used this face oil twice now and both times it left my skin soft, but not ultra oily the next morning so I can see how it helps with sebum production. It absorbs into my skin really easily! This 0.5oz oil is full sized.
I’m very interested in the Fourth Ray Beauty Matcha Face Milk! It sounds like it would be nourishing and luxurious but only time will tell. This is described as a “moisture booster” so I will be applying it like a hydrating serum before my face oils or moisturizers. It contains Matcha Milk, Jojoba Milk, Rice Milk, White Tea, and Kale. So far I’ve been enjoying this face milk, the texture feels awesome on my skin. The matcha milk is 0.5oz.
Keep It Calm Soothing + Calming Trio
I Wish that there was a set with both the matcha milk as well as the mellow milk. This Calming skincare set contains a rose face milk and I’m not the biggest fan of rose. I discovered this when I bought the Mario Badescu Rose Facial spray and I got SO SICK of smelling rosewater. I’m hoping the Rose Milk will work better for me.
The Fourth Ray Beauty Mellow Milk Mist sounds so relaxing to me! The name makes me happy, like floating on marshmallows. Not that I’ve ever done that literally, but I can dream right? This mist is supposed to soothe irritation & redness with White Tea, Calendula, and Marshmallow Root Extract. Chamomile and Oat Milk.
This face milk has the same idea as the mellow mist, it’s formulated with Argan Milk, Rose Milk, Oat and Chamomile to soothe the skin and reduce redness.
I was excited that this oil came in one of these value sets because I came across it when browsing Fourth Ray Beauty and it sounded really interesting to me. Skin Hero Oil is a blend of Argan, Baobab, and Strawberry Seed Oils and it’s supposed to leave your skin super soft. I can’t wait to add this into my nightly routine!
