Fourth Ray Beauty Mellow Milk Mist & Fresh AF Mist Review

Today I’m digging into my Fourth Ray Beauty haul products again to bring you a review of the Mellow Milk & Fresh AF Mists. I’ve been using these two mists a ton over the past month and a half, not a day has gone by that I haven’t used at least one of the mists if not both. If you’re interested in reading about the Rose & Matcha Face Milks from Fourth Ray Beauty I have a review of those too! Let’s talk about the Mellow Milk Mist First.

Fourth Ray Beauty Mellow Milk Mist Review

Delivers refreshing relief from uncomfortable skin using a blend of White Tea, Calendula, and Marshmallow Root Extract. Chamomile and Oat Milk soothe irritation and reduce redness, leaving you with a cool, calm, collection complexion. — Fourth Ray Beauty

The Fourth Ray Beauty Mellow Milk Mist retails for $8USD for a 4.15oz spritzer bottle. The packaging is minimal but elegant. Unlike ColourPop (their sister brand) FRB’s lettering and design on the bottle didn’t rub off after a few uses. ColourPop should take note!

My Mellow Milk Mist is a mini size, I purchased it in the Keep it Calm set along with a full sized Skin Hero Oil and a Rose Face Milk. If you’re wanting to try out the mist I recommend picking up the set, that way you can try some other products too. The mist is the only thing in the set that wasn’t full sized at 1oz. It was a good size to test out as a first timer.

You’re probably wondering if the Mellow Milk Mist smells like marshmallows. Unfortunately no, it does not. What a bummer right? The smell is still soothing and refreshing. I can’t really describe scents very well so I won’t try. Just know that it’s subtle and not overpowering!

Fourth Ray Beauty Mellow Milk Mist

Performance

I really, really like this face mist. I’ve used it at several different points in my skincare routine, from right after cleansing to after moisturizing. My one main complaint about it is that the spritzer sometimes lets larger water droplets through which can be annoying, but because I usually use it as part of my makeup prep routine it doesn’t cause any trouble.

I was instantly drawn to this mist when it released because of the “milk” in the name. Face milks are usually quite hydrating and I loved the idea of a hydrating milky mist. The mixture looks cloudy in the bottle, probably because of that hydrating Oat Milk ingredient. This mist is certainly hydrating. I think in the summer I could get away with using the Rose Milk topped with the Mellow Milk Mist as the only moisturizer in my routine, depending on how hot it is. My skin is very dry in the winter but in summer it can get oily when temperatures are above 20.

If you have sensitive skin something to watch out for with this mist is that when my skin is especially dry I will sometimes feel a mild burning/tingling sensation after spritzing. It usually only lasts 5-10 seconds. I experienced the same thing with the Rose Milk so I think it has something to do with the Oat Milk or Camomile because those ingredients are present in both products. I’m not an expert though!

It’s hard to gauge if the Mellow Milk Mist has actually helped soothe my skin or not. Dry skin feels less tight when I use it but when I was sick and had irritation around my nose I couldn’t tell if it helped reduce redness overnight or if that was just my skin healing on it’s own.  Overall I love this mist. It gives me more hydration than other face mists like the Mario Badescu Rose Mist and it’s only $8.

Fourth Ray Beauty Fresh AF Mist Review

Instantly combats tired, dehydrated skin. A refreshing blend of Tibetan Ginseng, White Lily, Rose Water, and Cucumber Water deliver a burst of hydration to revive and energize the complexion. — Fourth Ray Beauty

The Fourth Ray Beauty Fresh AF Mist retails for $8USD and contains 4.15oz of product. It sounded wonderful to me when I saw it online for the first time. They had me at cucumber water!

This mist smells very fresh, as it should with the name. It’s not overly floral or citrusy, you get a hint of that cucumber water scent. I was glad that it didn’t smell super rosy because as I’ve mentioned before, rose isn’t my thing.

Fourth Ray Beauty Fresh AF Face Mist

Performance

I primarily used the Fresh AF mist in my morning routine and the Mellow Milk Mist at night.

This mist has the same packaging as the Mellow Milk Mist and I noticed the same issue with the spritzer. Sometimes those large water droplets get through. I never use it as a makeup setting spray, those droplets can make non-waterproof mascara run! I do however spray the Fresh AF mist on my makeup sponge before blending my foundation and it gives me a more dewy and natural finish.

The Fresh AF Mist is nice during workouts and after showering. It feels refreshing on the skin but I personally think that the Mellow Milk is more hydrating. This one doesn’t give me any of that burning/tingling sensation though so I think it’s a much better choice for sensitive skin.

Final Thoughts

Overall the Mellow Milk Mist is my favourite. I will repurchase it in the future as long as it remains for sale on ColourPop’s website (shipping is cheaper there than from FRB). I won’t be repurchasing the Fresh AF mist because it didn’t really perform any differently than any other face mist I’ve tried and it would feel cumbersome to have two face mists in my routine.

Have you tried the Mellow Milk & Fresh AF Mists?

Thank you for reading. This concludes my Fourth Ray Beauty reviews for now but I’m sure I’ll try out more products from them in the future. If there’s a product that you would like reviewed please let me know! Talk soon x

Yes!! That’s why they’re sold there too, and why the pricing is so affordable. I think it’s great that ColourPop’s creators wanted to do skincare but left it to a sister brand. I feel like makeup brands that try to do skincare rarely work out so keeping it seperate makes sense.

I’ve already said this in your haul but I would love to try both of these. I think the mellow milk mist would be best to use in winter for myself and the fresh af mist for the summer to keep skin cool and refreshed. Ah I wish I didn’t have a no buy so I could make a purchase lol

I’m sure the mists will be around when your no-buy is over! Both are good options, and you’re right I think that it would be good to switch them up with the seasons.

I love how inexpensive it is! Some face mists are way overpriced. I hope you love it as much as I do 🙂

These sound lovely! Despite all the skincare I’ve tried over the years, I’ve never used any milky skincare products before, but I really want to! The Mellow Mist is going on my list!

I’m seeing them everywhere now, Pixi just released a milky face mist too. I really want to try it!
