Holiday Anti-Haul | Makeup I’m not Buying

Hey everyone! With Christmas fast approaching I wanted to share a holiday anti-haul of the products that I’m not planning on purchasing this Christmas season. I’ve been doing really well at not buying makeup this holiday season. All I bought during the Sephora VIB sale was a mini Fresh Soy Cleanser and I didn’t even shop for Black Friday =O

The products in this Holiday Anti-haul are actually things that I considered getting but decided not to because I had similar in my collection or because I really didn’t need it. Most of my past anti-hauls are products that I think aren’t worth the money, but this time my excuse is I just don’t need it. Maybe when I finish up some makeup (one day…) I’ll let myself buy some of these. If anti-hauls aren’t for you then make sure to check out my Christmas Wishlist instead!

Holiday Anti Haul - Makeup I'm not buying

Huda Beauty The New Nude Eyeshadow Palette

Something I forgot to mention was that not all of these products are specifically “holiday” releases. Many of them just happened to come out in the middle of all the holiday madness so in my mind they seem like Holiday things. The Huda Beauty New Nude palette is one of such products.

It’s absolutely beautiful. It really is, the glitters are absolutely stunning but I just don’t need an $85 eyeshadow palette right now. I mean, I have a whole box full of palettes and I just sunk to a new low and got a BIGGER box. So do I need another palette? Probably not. I also don’t think I would reach for this one because I rarely touch pink eyeshadow.

Holiday Anti-Haul | Too Faced Sugar Cookie Eyeshadow Palette

Too Faced Sugar Cookie Eyeshadow Palette

This one and the mini Tickled Peach palettes are so freaking cute, and I almost died when I swatched them in store. The formula feels so creamy and delicious… But do I need it? No. Especially for that price point I would rather pick up a release that isn’t limited edition so I can review it on my blog and have it be relevant for more than a month or two.

Palettes are my weakness for sure. The Hourglass Ambient Lighting palettes are stunning, but even if they really are $95 stunning I can’t justify the price. My rent is going up and I need to squirrel away some extra cash for our new home. I would love to pick up an Hourglass powder single, but I can’t afford a full face palette.

On the other hand I’m not even sure how much I would use this. I love my Too Faced Natural Face palette and I want to continue loving and using it instead of tossing it aside for another face palette. I’ve mentioned before that I don’t actually get excited for bronzers and blush very often so I would rather save my money for other products.

Holiday Anti-Haul | Beauty Blender Sweet Surprise Mystery Blind Bag

Beauty Blender Sweet Surprise Holiday Blind Bag

This set is actually a good deal because it contains a full sized beauty blender and one of the cleansing solids that is meant to clean your makeup sponges. I debated buying this but then I went to Ulta on my mini vacation to Arizona and picked up a $4.99 Real techniques sponge for like 30% of the price. And it’s soooo soft. I don’t know if I’ll ever want to use another makeup sponge

Holiday Anti-Haul | ABH Sultry Palette

Okay, I lied. I do actually have a product that I think isn’t for me in this holiday anti-haul. The new ABH Sultry palette is pretty… Basic? I apologize if you love this palette. Please keep on loving it and accept that not every product will appeal to everyone out there. Take away the one red interesting pop of colour and for me you get… a neutral palette. Granted there are some foiled looking shimmer shades which I’m sure are beautiful but I just can’t justify $59 for another neutral palette.

What’s on your Holiday Anti-Haul list?

There you have it! My Holiday Anti-haul of four products that I think are absolutely stunning and one product that I’m sure is great but I don’t get the hype. Did you shop for Black Friday or Cyber Monday? What’s on your holiday wishlist!? Talk soon! xx

I also have zero interest in the ABH sultry palette… Just no. ABH used to be the leader in innovative colour schemes and this has definitely been the year of basic for sure. I do love Soft Glam, but it’s time to start getting creative again!

I’ve been eyeing the bright & colourful Certifye palettes lately, they just teased a green palette which I really like the look of.
And the new Alamar palette looks very creative too!

I ordered the new Alamar one! Since I was so impressed with the formula! Even though I’m slightly skeptical of the colour scheme.

      haha totally agree!

I agree with you, Hourglass products are pretty expensive and I can never justify the price. That’s such a shame because I’ve heard so many great reviews about their products and their packaging is absolutely stunning. The ABH palette is soo pretty but for the price, I don’t know.. I can definitely find some great dupes in the drugstore. Fab post as always x

Everyone on IG says their products are amazing but I still can’t with those price points.
Totally agree about ABH, I love my soft glam palette but there are tons of dupes out for their palettes now. If you can find a similar dupe then why spend the money? Especially when their formula isn’t the easiest to work with because it’s so pigmented. Thank you for reading! x

The Hourglass palettes seem to all look the same or is that just me? I don’t really like pink eyeshadow on me so agree about the Huda Palette. I haven’t seen many reviews of the Sultry palette from ABH (maybe I haven’t looked hard enough) but just because the palette looks pretty I wouldn’t buy it. The majority of my makeup is drugstore and I’m happy with how it performs, a lot of others brands I consider luxury lol 😛

ahaha yeah they kind of do. They all look beautiful, but I don’t think you would ever need more than one version of the Ambient Lighting palettes. I find that with the large Morphe eyeshadow palettes too!
I do really think the ABH formula is something special, I have nothing that performs quite like my Soft Glam palette. But there are also so many great drugstore formulas out there, ABH is definitely not a necessity!

      • December 16, 2018 / 2:25 am

I had a Morphe palette and didn’t enjoy the mattes, they all looked the same and I found them hard to blend. The palette wasn’t worth keeping for 7 decent shimmers out of 25 shades 😛

aww no! That sucks! I’ve never tried Morphe shadows.

          • December 16, 2018 / 3:47 am

I ended up selling the palette.

            I did 🙂

Literally ditto on every single item you said on here. The one thing I would potentially buy is the BB set, only because while I love RT and the prices, the BB is still better! I actually own both! One to put in my put (the RT) and the BB for when I’m going out on the weekends and want my makeup to look flawless! I’m so excited you finally got the RT sponge though, it’s honestly one of the best sponges I’ve ever used xxx

Oh that’s good to know! I’ve never actually tried the Beauty Blender so I can’t compare it to anything. I will absolutely have to try it sometime. I love my RT sponge right now!

  6. December 14, 2018 / 12:22 pm

I agree with every item you mentioned here! These products all look lovely and I’m sure they’re beautiful quality as well, but do I need ‘em? Definitely not. I just got a few of the new Obsessions Palettes from Huda, so I surely don’t huge that huge, expensive nude palette as well.

  7. December 14, 2018 / 11:00 am

“I just sunk to a new low and got a BIGGER box” hahaha this just made me laugh so hard. It’s never a good feeling when you need to buy more storage to put your makeup.

I totally agree with you on all of those, although that Huda palette is freakin’ stunning. I’ve largely been unimpressed with all of the holiday releases this year which is unusual. ColourPop’s holiday collections – what are those even?

On another note, I hate how we feel like we can’t really buy LE stuff because it won’t be relevant in the beauty community in a few months. I mean, obviously we can buy whatever we want but I hate that we have pressure to buy/not buy something, ya know?

RIGHT!? I used to keep all my makeup in a fabfitfun box and that thing was big. But I keep needing to expanding my storage options and it’s taking up so much space now! I need to make one of those capsule collections you posted about.

The Huda palette IS beautiful and I can see why so many people love it. If I still want it in a few months I might end up picking it up but I’ve been trying to stay away from impulse buys! Kathleen Lights just released a holiday lip & super shock shadow set with colourpop and I think it’s the most “holiday” set of products that they’ve released this year. I don’t know why the rainbow palette is considered a holiday release :S

Totally! I find that I don’t rank on google unless it’s a permanent collection and even then only if I buy the product immediately after it’s release. But it would be nice to not think about that sometimes and just buy what I want.
