I tried Biossance!

Hey friends, I finally tried Biossance! After hearing some of my favourite influencers rave about their products I finally decided to give them a try. While Biossance is on the pricey side they have some great little sample kits available. Unfortunately shipping to Canada directly from the brand is super expensive, so it’s hard to reap the benefits of the brand’s sitewide deals. On the bright side you can still find all their products at Sephora if you’re located in Canada!

About Biossance

Biossance is a skincare company focusing on creating clean & sustainable beauty products. Biossance is known for their Squalane products, which is a vegan, renewable, sugarcane-derived version of squalene. Squalene is an oil found in shark livers and human skin. It’s naturally produced in the skin and helps to improve elasticity and lock in moisture. Squalene production decreases as we age so it’s a good ingredient to have in you skincare routine!

Biossance is EWG, Peta and Leaping Bunny Certified. The brand also uses fully recyclable packaging and uses carbon neutral shipping.

Fun Fact: Biossance originally started out creating a patented technology to cure malaria before turning to skincare!

Biossance Rapid Radiance Set Review

My Experience with The Biossance Rapid Radiance Set

Sephora points rewards enabled me to try both the Squalane + Rapid Plumping Serum and the Squalane + Omega Repair Cream. While the sample size for the plumping serum was too small for me to review the Omega Repair Cream was much better. After I enjoyed both the serum and the moisturizer I decided to pick up some larger trial sizes with the Biossance Rapid Radiance set.

The Rapid Radiance Set from Biossance retails for $46 CAD and contains four travel sized products. It contains an eye cream, face oil, lactic acid serum and moisturizer. The sizes in the set are actually quite good, I got a really solid feel for each of the products before they were finished. Each product is made with Squalane (it’s kind of Biossance’s thing). The products are simple and effective, I found myself adding full sizes to my Sephora cart before I had even finished the travel sizes!

Squalane Marine Algae Eye Cream

This eye cream from Biossance is a hydrating formula with marine algae and paracress extract to lift and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. It has won awards from both Allure and Glamour. My under eyes are actually the one place I’m not seeing fine lines (yet). I’m almost offended about it, I have mini frown lines but no crinkling crows feet starting. I guess I don’t smile with my eyes, what kind of a psychopath am I? But I still enjoy a thick hydrating cream for under my eyes and this one feels really nice! I don’t know that I will repurchase this eye cream as I am still a BIG fan of the Saturday Skin Wide Awake eye cream but I would consider it!

Squalane Lactic Acid Resurfacing Night Serum

Oh, my gosh you guys. This serum is everything! Even the Paulas choice 25% peel hasn’t been as effective for me as the Biossance Lactic Acid serum. After one use I noticed in the morning that my skin was smoother, the fine lines on my forehead were lessened and there was no redness or irritation. I need a full size!

The serum contains a 10% concentration of lactic acid, an alpha hydroxy acid to chemically exfoliate the skin. I finally understand the hype with stronger exfoliants. This is the first time I’ve seen results this fast with zero irritation or breakouts.

Biossance Skincare Review

Squalane Omega Repair Cream

The Squalane Omega Repair Cream contains ceramides, omega fatty acids and hyaluronic acid to plump and smooth the skin. I really, really like this moisturizer. It’s luxurious and hydrating without making my skin feel greasy. I usually prefer gel cream moisturizers but I enjoy this cream just as much as my favourite gel cream.

I also enjoy the simplicity of Biossance products. They don’t contain a ton of actives like vitamin C, peptides, niacinamide, etc, but they are very effective at hydrating the skin. My skin has been looking really great since I started using the Biossance Squalane skincare line!

Squalane Vitamin C Rose Oil

The Vitamin C Rose Oil is the one product from Biossance that I don’t think I would consider buying full sized, only because I’m not a big fan of the feeling of an oil of my face. I don’t mind mixing this in with the Squalane moisturizer but the texture of an oil is just not something that I enjoy. I will say that this is a lighter oil than some, so if you like oils this would probably work for you year round. It’s actually won several skincare awards so clearly most people are enjoying this product! It claims to tone and smooth texture, firm the skin and hydrate.

Unfortunately I dropped my bottle when the lid wasn’t properly secured (my own fault) and I lost over 1/2 the product in the bottle. It was a very sad day for me, as this facial oil isn’t cheap! As I said though I won’t be repurchasing since I don’t love oil consistencies. I will get over it.

Biossance Skincare Products, Ole Henrikseon Moisturizer, Lawless Lip Mask

What’s your favorite Biossance product?

I’m really torn because up until now I never understood the hype about expensive skincare products but these truly do go above and beyond what skincare I usually pick up at the drugstore. This skincare line really worked for my skin, but I definitely can’t afford to buy more than one product at a time from Biossance at this time.

I’m also trialling some products that promise similar results from The Ordinary, like their 10% Lactic acid serum. If it doesn’t prove to be a suitable dupe I’ll probably pick up the Biossance serum first!
