Hey everyone! Last week I changed things up on my blog with a Purple Glam Holiday Makeup Tutorial. That look was a recreaton of the purple look that I did in my ColourPop My Little Pony Eyeshadow Palette Review earlier this year. I loved the way it turned out so I decided to recreate another look that I did with that palette and came up with an Ice Queen Holiday Makeup Tutorial for you guys.
As I also stated in my Purple Glam Tutorial, this look isn’t “festive” in the traditional sense but it does strike me as Holiday because of how icy blue and bold it is! I wore a similar blue look to my work Christmas party last year.
Ice Queen Holiday Makeup Tutorial
I’m not going to talk about my base makeup as it’s not the focus of this makeup look. You can follow your regular foundation routine and whatever bronzer, blush and highlight you want, the eyes are the main thing here. For my Ice Queen Holiday Makeup look I used the ColourPop My Little Pony Palette as well as the ColourPop Zodiac Palette.
Step #1: Prime & Set
To start off this look make sure to prime your eyes with an eyeshadow primer or with a concealer. It will help the shadows stick to your eyes and ultimately last longer. Next I like to set my base with a bit of pressed powder or a white eyeshadow.
Step #2: Build up the crease
Instead of a traditional transition shade I used a blue shade right off the bat. Using a fluffy brush I started building up the shade Aquarius from the Zodiac Palette. I took my time to keep everything smooth and kept adding on more blue.
Next I hopped over to the My Little Pony Palette and placed the shade Twilight In the outer V of my eyes. I also applied a small amount of Capricorn from the Zodiac palette with a small brush to deepen the outer corners.
Step #3: Cut the Crease
With Aquarius fully built up in my crease I then cut a half crease with concealer. I didn’t want a full crease because I felt it would be too dramatic with this already bold icy eyeshadow look.
To build dimension I took the beautiful deep turquoise shade Princess Sparkle from the MLP palette and placed it all over the outer third of my eyelids. Beside that shade in the centre of my eyelids I then placed the icy blue shade Firefly. This shade is gorgeous, I don’t see a lot of brands coming out with colours like this very often. To blend it in with Princess Sparkle I patted it over the edges of that shade with a flat brush.
On the inner corner of my eyes I placed the shade Snuzzle. Both Snuzzle and Firefly are form the MLP palette. Though it looks different from Firefly in the pan the two are almost identical on the eyes. Snuzzle is just a bit more snowy as opposed to icy.
Step 4: Highlight & Line the eyes
To highlight my brow bone and the inner tear ducts of my eyes I applied a small amount of the lightest satin shade in the palette (Bluebell) with a small pencil brush. To finish off the look I applied some eyeliner and mascara. You can add false lashes if you want, but if you aren’t comfortable with that you can totally skip this step. I wore lashes for photographing this look but for going out I would forgo the lashes. I’m not comfortable enough in them yet to wear them out of the house!
