It’s been two months since my last Ipsy review, and I was itching for that pink envelope mailer. Apparently some people got gold envelope mailers this month, as well as a booklet detailing their new cash back rewards for purchases. I didn’t get the booklet, but the back of the theme card referenced it. As a Canadian subscriber I am not eligible for shipping from the Ipsy Offer Shop, so I’m not sure what’s up with that!
Ipsy is a $10 monthly makeup subscription service that ships 4-5 deluxe and full sized products each month.
Shipping: Free for USA. Add $4.95 for shipping to Canada.
Value: Glam bags can average to around $49USD, but this can vary as glam bags are semi-customized. In addition each month comes with a new makeup bag.
Customize: Fill out a profile quiz and get personalized products. Leaving feedback on your products in theory makes the curation better month to month.
Points: Earn points through referrals and reviewing your glam bag. In addition you get 100 points for joining. Points can be redeemed for extra items. You can sign up HERE!
The theme this month is Good Vibes Only. There were three different bags this month, each with a different saying. Which bag did you get, or wish you got!? I don’t know that I’ll keep the bag in the long term as my style is more minimalistic, but it’s not bad.
Secret Key Nature Recipe Sheet Mask Duo $6
I was excited to see sheet mask in my glam bag! This is my first time receiving sheet masks from Ipsy. Included was a honey mask and a tea tree mask. I think I’ll save the tea tree mask for the next time I get a breakout, but the honey mask will be used asap.
theBalm Cosmetics Eyeshadow Sample Size ~ $2.75
My first thought about this was (insert sarcasm) Great, another miniature theBalm sample. I got the pale gold shade Kuwakaribisha. At first I wasn’t excited for it, BUT after swatching it (see below) I changed my mind. It really does makes a great brow bone or tear duct highlight. I was surprised by how much I actually fell in love with this eyeshadow. It still would have been nice to get a full size eyeshadow, since it’s only $5.50, but what can you do right?
SLMissGlam T35 Precise Blending Brush ~$10
Tthis brush is an Ipsy exclusive. The closest thing I found to compare with was the Madison Miller Brush set on the SLMissGlam website. It doesn’t look like they sell individual brushes aside from kabuki brushes. It’s a pretty brush, but I prefer my blending brushes to be a little bit… poofier? The bristles are almost all a uniform length and I like it better when the brush is thicker in the middle. I tested it out today and it did a good job blending my theBalm eyeshadow so I’ll keep it around.
Make Up For Ever Excessive Lash Arresting Volume Mascara Deluxe Sample $7.35
I was a little bit disappointed to be receiving mascara when I have so many travel size mascaras! Mascara is no longer listed on my Ipsy profile so I don’t know why I’m still getting them. Anyways, this 2.5ml sample has a thin brush which I like, so I’ll use it eventually!
Aurora Pro Coverup Concealer in Pistachio Sample Size ~$4
I have a cream colour correcting Palette already, but this will be great for quick applications and travel. The formula is very thin so it might be hard to get an even application over redness. I like that it’s a pale green, some colour correctors I’ve seen are so vibrant that I wonder how you are going to correct the corrector! This rubbed off very easily after drying on my arm swatch, so I’m curious to see how well it holds up on my face.
My glam bag was valued at $30.10 this month. It’s still over the $14.95 I paid for my subscription, but when I initially became a subscriber last year I had some incredible bag values. It seems like all my 2017 bags have been low in comparison. On the bright side, I’ll use everything this month! I’m looking forward to trying those sheet masks!
