January Favourites 2019

January Favourites 2019

Well, that was the longest January ever. Normally in these posts I say “Wow that month went fast!” but January felt like it dragged on forever. I’ve been working more hours than I would like at my job and I got sick twice. Mike & I were also dealing with stress from working with realtors & mortgage brokers for our first home purchase. We’re very excited to move into the new place though, so all that stress will be worth it.

I’m still going strong with blogging and I’m going to be pressing forward with youtube. This journey has taught me so much and I can’t wait to see where it leads me! The new place will feature a beauty/filming room and there’s going to be sooo much natural light for taking blog photos. I can’t wait!

This month I imposed a no-buy on myself so all of these products were bought prior to January 1st or were sent to me in PR. I’m shocked that I made it an entire month through this no-buy. Despite how absolutely crazy January has been I still got to play with makeup & try out new skincare products, so I have lots to talk about in my January Favourites!

ColourPop Dream Sequence, Lippie Scrub & Lip Gloss

January Favourites

ColourPop Dream Sequence Highlighter Palette

Omg I’m obsessed with this palette. I’ve never tried ColourPop’s super shock Highlighters before and now I’m kicking myself for taking so long to try this formula! I reviewed this palette on my blog and on youtube and I had nothing but glowing things to say about the Dream Sequence palette…Get it? 😉 The shades feel wet to the touch and they’re absolutely blinding on my face! I will definitely be picking up Super Shock Highlighter singles in the future.

ColourPop Lippie Scrub in Razzle Dazzle

I haven’t written an official review of the Razzle Dazzle Lip Scrub yet but for now let me tell you that for the price it’s amazing! It tastes like watermelon hubba bubba and does a really good job nourishing and sloughing off dead skin from my lips. I prefer this to the Bite Beauty Agave Lip Scrub and the Fresh Lip Polish scrub and it’s a fraction of the price!

Esqido Unisyn Peaches & Cream Synthetic Lashes

Esqido Unisyn Peaches & Cream Synthetic Lashes

I got my very first pair of Esqido lashes this month and I’m in love with them. I have a full post on these lashes where you can see them in action! The Peaches & Cream Synthetic Lashes are light volume for comfortable & fluttery eyelashes. These look so much prettier than all the drugstore lashes I’ve been buying, I don’t want to go back! I love that there’s a little storage case and that it contained tips for caring for your false eyelashes.

Kathleen Lights Twinkling Lights Collection - Night Light Lip Gloss

ColourPop Night Light Lip Gloss

This is part of Kathleen Lights’ Twinkling Lights collection with ColourPop that released for Christmas. This gloss is between a sheer & metallic bronze and has a ton of micro-glitter. It’s such a fun product, and was my first ever ColourPop lip gloss purchase. The formula is comfortable and actually feels hydrating to me, like it’s doing more than just sitting on top of my lips. I will definitely be buying more of their glosses!

Fourth Ray Beauty Rose & Mellow Milk | January Favourites

Fourth Ray Beauty Rose Milk & Mellow Milk Mist

I posted a haul recently of six products I purchased from Fourth Ray Beauty, ColourPop’s sister skincare brand. So far I have enjoyed most of the products and I’ll be writing reviews for them shortly. The standout products for me were the Rose Milk & Mellow Milk Mist. The Rose Milk is a hydrating moisture booster that you can apply at the point in your skincare routine that you’d apply serums/essences. I tried both the Matcha Milk & Rose Milk and the rose milk is by far my favourite. It’s soothing and doesn’t actually smell overwhelmingly rosy. I’m not a fan of that fake rose smell you get in a lot of products so I wasn’t sure I’d like the Rose milk. Clearly it worked out!

The Mellow Milk Mist is one of the most hydrating face mists I have ever used. I like to use it as a last step in my skincare routine, or for a hydration boost throughout the day. Contrary to the product name it doesn’t actually smell like marshmallows but it does contain marshmallow root. It’s soothing on the skin and retails for only $8USD. If you’re looking to pick this up I recommend buying off of ColourPop’s site because the shipping is cheaper.

Nars Sheer Glow Foundation

I didn’t actually get a photo of this foundation because I only have a tiny sample of it. When I bought my Morphe Boss Mood Artistry Palette I was able to choose some samples from Sephora (only two now unfortunately) so I chose a mini of the Nars Sheer Glow Foundation. The shade they sent me was surprisingly a great match! It gives a very natural coverage and makes my skin look glowy. It’s one of those Your-Skin-But-Better products. I’m annoyed that I love this so much because it’s so expensive. I know I don’t need more foundations right now but I’ve stashed it in the back of my mind palace for the next time I’m ready to purchase a foundation.

Pixi Beauty Rose Skintreats | January Favourites

Pixi Beauty Rose Skintreats

I was sent the entire Pixi Beauty Rose Skintreats line in a recent PR Haul this month. It was my biggest brand package to date! I was in the middle of testing out my Fourth Ray Beauty skincare products so I didn’t want to start using these products immediately. Since I got these products mid month I’ve transitioned in the Pixi Rose Cream Cleaner, Rose Ceramide Cream, Rose Tonic and Rose Glow Mist. I had two standout products that I had to include in my January Favourites.

The Rose Cream Cleanser is the only cleanser I have ever tried that didn’t leave my skin feeling even a tiny bit tight. I love the Fresh Soy Cleanser but even that one could bring out dry patches when the weather was extremely cold. It’s been below minus twenty all week and the Rose Cream Cleanser hasn’t made my skin feel tight or dry once. I will absolutely be repurchasing this when my bottle is done!

The Rose Ceramide Cream doesn’t smell like rose to me at all and I’m glad for that. Rose is just not my thing, as I’ve said before. This cream is thick but easy to spread and quick to absorb. It leaves my skin feeling softened and smooth. I will need to keep testing this over the course of February but I think I found another HG product? I’ll keep you guys updated on how using this moisturizer exclusively goes for me this month!

January Beauty & Skincare Favourites

What products are in your January Favourites?

Have an amazing February everyone! I can’t wait to share my Fourth Ray & Pixi Beauty reviews with you. Just a quick note that I will not have a post going up on Wednesday, I’m giving myself a much needed break. I’ll see you guys on Friday! Talk soon xx

I was going to say the opposite. January kind of went by in a flash and I’m feeling like February is dragging on lol.
Cant wait to see that beauty room. I wish I had one room for all my stuff as well! Lol.
That lip scrub sounds amazing! I like fruity ones over the sweet/sugary ones. I liked the Bite agave lip scrub too but the CP one is more up my alley. I’ll take a mental note, or no, I will actually have to write this down lol. I’m on a no buy as well unless I run out of something I need (doubtful except concealer) lol.
And good to know that CP’s glosses are hydrating. I haven’t come around any products like that and now I’m intrigued. Wow, CP really have amazing products! No wonder you like them so much, you might turn me into a dedicated fan soon 😉
I’ll also be looking into Fourth Ray products.

I feel like I’m always just waiting to get my my next day off at this point, I’ve been working way too many hours with only one day off a week most weeks. It makes every month feel sooo long 🙁
I’m so excited to set it up! It won’t come together immediately but I’m starting to set aside some money for a new desk and a little side table & chair. It’s going to be so lovely!
This lip scrub is kind of a combination of both, it’s definitely sweet but I love the watermelon taste! I keep forgetting that it’s a sugar scrub and I’ve used it after brushing my teeth. Then I’m like nooo I have to brush again lol!
I hope your no-buy is going well!
I feel like my blog is partially a fan site dedicated to ColourPop lol. I feel like I need to take a break from their releases and review other brands but I love their products so much!
      Thanks for reading!

well that makes sense then, I’d wait desperately for a day off too lol. adulting sucks.
my no-buy is going well, aside from the clothing haul that I desperately needed lol. I may end up needing a few skincare products though like a day cream, an eye cream and serum lol…

Totally. Being a carefree teenager was actually pretty nice lol
Well if you bought things you need it doesn’t count 😆 Clothing & skincare is important! As long as you’re not buying beyond what you’re actually using I think it’s ok.
I ran out of makeup remover and dry shampoo so I bought more even though I’m on a no-buy too. If I don’t have replacements I’ve decided I’m allowed to repurchase lol

            Haha great point! 😀

  2. February 8, 2019 / 11:56 pm

I’m feeling like every month is flying by right now, which can be good and bad. That CP lip scrub sounds so delicious, like mouthwatering lol. I’m glad you are enjoying the Pixi cleanser! I think it’s a really nice product. I’ve always taken it travelling with me since I first bought it last summer. I’ve been using the ceramide cream day and night and it’s nice and hydrating. Perhaps a bit thicker than I am used to, but it’s good! Loving the scent too!

I wish that February would go a little faster, I can’t wait for the end of March! But then it can slow down, I’m not ready to turn 27 this year…
I’ll have to include the cleaner in my travel bag from now on, especially since Pixi sent us one! I love that the ceramide cream is thick but also absorbs well. I was using an awful face cream from the Rocky Mountain Soap Co (from Elle Canada, not my choice) and the rose cream is 1000% better!

  3. February 7, 2019 / 5:05 pm

You’re right – January absolutely dragged but now that we’re into February, I feel like it’s going to fly by! 😮

A nice selection of favourites – I can still see your Colour Pop obsession still going strong! I wish that brand was actually accessible for me so that I could actually try it out.

I have yet to try out Pixi too. I agree with you there about not being a fan of rose scents either. The only ‘rose’ scent that I don’t mind is when it’s rose water lol but when it’s in a moisturiser or cleanser, it’s an instant no-no for me.

I hope it does! We move into our new home next month and I feel like this month is taking forever still haha!

Oh yes, ColourPop for life lol! I do want to start featuring some other drugstore/mid-range brands this year though, I feel like ColourPop has taken over my blog. It’s too bad you’re not able to get their products 🙁

I don’t know why that is! I love the smell of roses as flowers but as soon as the put the scent in something else I’m like nope!

It’s gorgeous! It’s sort of strange that it was released for the holidays but I love it so I shouldn’t complain lol

  5. February 6, 2019 / 6:35 pm

omg, I just bought a colourpop supershock highlighter, and I’m totally in love with it. It’s soft, looks beautiful on the skin, and super blinding, like you said. Great post Cleia xxx

They’re so good, especially for the price. I’ve even been remembering to use mine because I like it so much, normally I forget about lip scrubs!

  7. February 6, 2019 / 2:48 am

That highlighter palette is soo stunning! I love the shades, they are so pretty! That Rose Cream Cleanser from Pixi sounds amazing, I have to check it out! x

I love it too! I don’t always have the proper occasion for a blinding highlight but I’ve been really enjoying the shades.
Let me know what you think if you do try the cleanser!
