Well, that was the longest January ever. Normally in these posts I say “Wow that month went fast!” but January felt like it dragged on forever. I’ve been working more hours than I would like at my job and I got sick twice. Mike & I were also dealing with stress from working with realtors & mortgage brokers for our first home purchase. We’re very excited to move into the new place though, so all that stress will be worth it.
I’m still going strong with blogging and I’m going to be pressing forward with youtube. This journey has taught me so much and I can’t wait to see where it leads me! The new place will feature a beauty/filming room and there’s going to be sooo much natural light for taking blog photos. I can’t wait!
This month I imposed a no-buy on myself so all of these products were bought prior to January 1st or were sent to me in PR. I’m shocked that I made it an entire month through this no-buy. Despite how absolutely crazy January has been I still got to play with makeup & try out new skincare products, so I have lots to talk about in my January Favourites!
ColourPop Dream Sequence Highlighter Palette
Omg I’m obsessed with this palette. I’ve never tried ColourPop’s super shock Highlighters before and now I’m kicking myself for taking so long to try this formula! I reviewed this palette on my blog and on youtube and I had nothing but glowing things to say about the Dream Sequence palette…Get it? 😉 The shades feel wet to the touch and they’re absolutely blinding on my face! I will definitely be picking up Super Shock Highlighter singles in the future.
ColourPop Lippie Scrub in Razzle Dazzle
I haven’t written an official review of the Razzle Dazzle Lip Scrub yet but for now let me tell you that for the price it’s amazing! It tastes like watermelon hubba bubba and does a really good job nourishing and sloughing off dead skin from my lips. I prefer this to the Bite Beauty Agave Lip Scrub and the Fresh Lip Polish scrub and it’s a fraction of the price!
Esqido Unisyn Peaches & Cream Synthetic Lashes
I got my very first pair of Esqido lashes this month and I’m in love with them. I have a full post on these lashes where you can see them in action! The Peaches & Cream Synthetic Lashes are light volume for comfortable & fluttery eyelashes. These look so much prettier than all the drugstore lashes I’ve been buying, I don’t want to go back! I love that there’s a little storage case and that it contained tips for caring for your false eyelashes.
ColourPop Night Light Lip Gloss
This is part of Kathleen Lights’ Twinkling Lights collection with ColourPop that released for Christmas. This gloss is between a sheer & metallic bronze and has a ton of micro-glitter. It’s such a fun product, and was my first ever ColourPop lip gloss purchase. The formula is comfortable and actually feels hydrating to me, like it’s doing more than just sitting on top of my lips. I will definitely be buying more of their glosses!
Fourth Ray Beauty Rose Milk & Mellow Milk Mist
I posted a haul recently of six products I purchased from Fourth Ray Beauty, ColourPop’s sister skincare brand. So far I have enjoyed most of the products and I’ll be writing reviews for them shortly. The standout products for me were the Rose Milk & Mellow Milk Mist. The Rose Milk is a hydrating moisture booster that you can apply at the point in your skincare routine that you’d apply serums/essences. I tried both the Matcha Milk & Rose Milk and the rose milk is by far my favourite. It’s soothing and doesn’t actually smell overwhelmingly rosy. I’m not a fan of that fake rose smell you get in a lot of products so I wasn’t sure I’d like the Rose milk. Clearly it worked out!
The Mellow Milk Mist is one of the most hydrating face mists I have ever used. I like to use it as a last step in my skincare routine, or for a hydration boost throughout the day. Contrary to the product name it doesn’t actually smell like marshmallows but it does contain marshmallow root. It’s soothing on the skin and retails for only $8USD. If you’re looking to pick this up I recommend buying off of ColourPop’s site because the shipping is cheaper.
Nars Sheer Glow Foundation
I didn’t actually get a photo of this foundation because I only have a tiny sample of it. When I bought my Morphe Boss Mood Artistry Palette I was able to choose some samples from Sephora (only two now unfortunately) so I chose a mini of the Nars Sheer Glow Foundation. The shade they sent me was surprisingly a great match! It gives a very natural coverage and makes my skin look glowy. It’s one of those Your-Skin-But-Better products. I’m annoyed that I love this so much because it’s so expensive. I know I don’t need more foundations right now but I’ve stashed it in the back of my mind palace for the next time I’m ready to purchase a foundation.
Pixi Beauty Rose Skintreats
I was sent the entire Pixi Beauty Rose Skintreats line in a recent PR Haul this month. It was my biggest brand package to date! I was in the middle of testing out my Fourth Ray Beauty skincare products so I didn’t want to start using these products immediately. Since I got these products mid month I’ve transitioned in the Pixi Rose Cream Cleaner, Rose Ceramide Cream, Rose Tonic and Rose Glow Mist. I had two standout products that I had to include in my January Favourites.
The Rose Cream Cleanser is the only cleanser I have ever tried that didn’t leave my skin feeling even a tiny bit tight. I love the Fresh Soy Cleanser but even that one could bring out dry patches when the weather was extremely cold. It’s been below minus twenty all week and the Rose Cream Cleanser hasn’t made my skin feel tight or dry once. I will absolutely be repurchasing this when my bottle is done!
The Rose Ceramide Cream doesn’t smell like rose to me at all and I’m glad for that. Rose is just not my thing, as I’ve said before. This cream is thick but easy to spread and quick to absorb. It leaves my skin feeling softened and smooth. I will need to keep testing this over the course of February but I think I found another HG product? I’ll keep you guys updated on how using this moisturizer exclusively goes for me this month!
What products are in your January Favourites?
Have an amazing February everyone! I can’t wait to share my Fourth Ray & Pixi Beauty reviews with you. Just a quick note that I will not have a post going up on Wednesday, I’m giving myself a much needed break. I’ll see you guys on Friday! Talk soon xx
