January to March Collective Beauty Haul

.Collective Beauty Haul

Hey everyone, welcome back to my blog! Lately I haven’t been posting a lot of hauls, aside from a single ColourPop order. Instead of doing giant hauls I’ve been purchasing things that I run out of here and there instead of all at once. Since January I realized I’ve accumulated pretty much a brand new skincare routine and I’ve barely shared any of it with you guys, so here goes my collective beauty haul — All my little beauty & fashion purchases from January to March.

Collective Beauty Haul - Mario Badescu & Neutrogena

Beauty Haul

Mario Badescu Rose Facial Spray
I purchased this mask on recommendation from Melina from MelinaElisa. It’s fairly inexpensive at amazon.ca, I bought it for under $10CAD! I wouldn’t say that it has transformed my skin, but I love to use it spritzed on my beauty blender instead of water when I’m in a rush and don’t have time to run between my makeup station & the bathroom for water. It’s also lovely as a refresher when I’m feeling tired and blah.

Neutrogena Hydro Boost with SPF 15
I discovered Neutrogena Hydro boost for extra dry skin last winter and it was such a skin saver. This time around I purchased the version with SPF 15 that comes in a tube instead of a jar. I’ve said before that jar products don’t bother me, but I know it’s an issue for a lot of you. I’ve used it a few times and I have to say, it doesn’t work as well for me as the Hydro Boost for Extra Dry Skin. I guess I should have known since this is the regular version just with added SPF.

Collective Beauty Haul - Herbal Essence Dry Shampoo

Herbal Essence Dry Shampoo
I picked this up because I noticed it was a few dollars cheaper than the Batiste dry shampoos at shoppers. I go through dry shampoo so fast that I thought, why not? This dry shampoo smells amazing, like fresh peaches! It does an okay job of absorbing oil, but I feel like by the end of the day my hair feels greasy again when it doesn’t with Batiste. It also leaves my hair feeling rather dry, like it’s full of hair spray even if I brush it out.

Collective Beauty Haul - Fresh Soy Cleanser & Aveeno Cleanser

Fresh Soy Cleanser
I purchased this in January as a Treat ‘Yo Self moment. My skin was freaking out after I put it through a month of using the First Aid Beauty Cleanser so I decided to buy the mini of this cleanser to treat my skin. The full size is $47CAD and I just ran out of the $20 mini so I’m quite sad! Which brings me to my next purchase…

Aveeno Positively Radiant Cleanser
I bought this last weekend after I ran out of the Fresh Cleanser. As much as I like to invest in skincare I just can’t afford the best products all the time so I walked over to the drugstore one morning and mulled over all the choices for 20 minutes.

I recently received a package from Aveeno containing three products from their Positively Radiant Soy Complex line (which I reviewed here) so I was already familiar with the products. The cleanser was $8.99 at my local Shoppers so I decided why not? It’s oddly enough a very pretty cleanser. The formula has a gold iridescence to it! Not that that makes any difference in the formula, but I had a moment of staring in wonder xD

Collective Beauty Haul - Lancome Bi-Facil & Essie Gel Setter

Lancome Bi-Facil Makeup Remover
This eye makeup remover was featured in my 2018 Winter Favourites! I purchased the full sized bottle in February. It was a very big deal for me because normally I would never spend $15+ on a makeup remover. I tried the mini before buying it full sized and my makeup has never removed easier than when I use Bi-Facil. For me it’s 100% worth it to have an eye makeup remover that is effortless to use and works instantly.

Essie Gel Setter Top Coat
I purchased this on recommendation from my sister in law. Her nails are always immaculate and she says this top coat is her secret! I’ve used it a few times and so far so good. My mani isn’t bulletproof but it’s lasting longer than it was with my previous top coat.

Elle Canada Grand Prix

Elle Canada 2018 Beauty Grand Prix Juror Products
I was lucky enough to be chosen to participate as a Juror in the Elle Canada Beauty Grand Prix again this year! Elle sent me a ton of products to test out with the labels wrapped to avoid brand bias which I’m testing out until June. I got sent six moisturizers, four lip balms, and five eyeliners. I’m not allowed to take the labels off until my final logbook is submitted so I can’t tell you a lot about these products yet. It will all become clear in a few months *Update: You can see everything I got now HERE!

You’ve got some great stuff here, and I don’t think that I’ve tried any of it! That is so cool that you were chosen by Elle to be a juror! So fun and awesome, congrats!

I was so excited when I got the selection email, you should sign up when they put out the sign up forms in Nomember!

      • April 10, 2018 / 3:30 pm

Ok I definitely will! I guess you found out about this since you read their magazines a lot? I would have never known about it πŸ˜›

Yeah I got a free subscription for ordering from Just Fab last year so I flip through sometimes and I saw the advertisement for it!

          • April 10, 2018 / 3:34 pm

            Ah ok, very cool!

      • April 10, 2018 / 3:30 pm

LOL tbh I didn’t even notice until seeing this comment. My brain fixed it for you lol

          Haha I’m glad

  2. April 9, 2018 / 12:28 am

Great haul! I’m working on my collective haul from February and march. Almost done with it. But anyway, I still haven’t tried the rose facial spray and I really really really want to. Also, the fresh soy cleanser, I’ve heard so many good things about it.

    • AlwaysCleia
      April 9, 2018 / 11:47 am

Looking forward to reading your haul!
The facial spray is so inexpensive, it’s really nice! I’d like to try out the aloe one too, and I heard there’s a cucumber scent now!
The soy cleanser is so good, especially for dry skin πŸ™‚

      • April 9, 2018 / 1:29 pm

I definitely want to try the aloe vera too! And cucumber? Nice! Oh, I don’t have dry skin, I wonder if it would be just as good, but I’m not a fan of the price for such a small amount lol

  3. April 8, 2018 / 6:19 am

There is so much hype over that Mario Badescu Rose Facial Spray but I found it simply ok and I wouldn’t repurchase. Saks in downtown Toronto actually sells Mario Badescu in store.
I have that Essie Gel Setter top coat but you know what’s even better than that one? The Essie Gel Couture top coat! It works over any nail polish, is quick dry and makes them so shiny and lasts almost 2 weeks – trust me on this! I dedicated entire blog posts to both of those top coats.

And how exciting to be an Elle Canada Beauty Grand Prix Juror! I knew another blogger who entered and did it too. I’ve toyed with entering but knowing my skin, it will freak out with trying so many products. I love how they always attempt to hide the products but I think I would try to guess anyway… I mean, hello, that lip balm is totally EOS… πŸ˜†

      April 9, 2018 / 10:48 am

I don’t think it’s particularly amazing either. I do like it and it’s inexpensive

    • AlwaysCleia
      April 9, 2018 / 10:52 am

Totally wasn’t done replying but I hit send by accident πŸ˜†
I’ll check that other Essie top coat out! I go through top coats so fast, I’ll be in need of a new one soon. 2 weeks, that’s crazy! I’m lucky if I get 2 days out of my Mani πŸ˜„

This is my second year doing it, it’s always so exciting! Lol yes, some products are totally obvious. Last year I got Nexxus shampoo to try out and though they taped the labels there’s only one bottle that looks like that! I already figured out what 3 of the moisturizers are lol

  4. April 6, 2018 / 8:20 pm

I really like the Mario Badescu spray! I keep it in my desk at work for when I need a quick refresher! I also used to have that makeup remover and I ran out! After reading this I’m reminded I should buy more! 😊

I love the Mario spray, my absolute favorite one is the lavender scented one! I’m partial to lavender though!

    • AlwaysCleia
      April 9, 2018 / 11:42 pm

I don’t know why but lavender isn’t my favourite, I think my mom would always buy lavender growing up and I got sick of it. It does sound very calming though! I want to try the aloe one next!

        April 10, 2018 / 11:22 pm

Yeah, lavender is really a hit or miss fragrance. The aloe one is definitely my second favorite! It’s super refreshing and soothing!

  6. April 6, 2018 / 3:29 pm

I have that Herbal Essence dry shampoo and it smells soooo good! I need to get that Essie Top Coat! Right now I’m using a Sally Hansen base coat as top coat too lol

    • AlwaysCleia
      April 7, 2018 / 12:09 pm

      Best smell ever!
The Essie top coat works really well with Essie polishes which isn’t really a surprise that it works the best for it’s own brand. I love using 2 in one base coats that also work as a top coat!

  7. April 6, 2018 / 3:14 pm

That is so cool about Elle! Can’t wait to find out what they are!

    • AlwaysCleia
      April 7, 2018 / 12:07 pm

Me too! I had a bad reaction to one of the moisturizers so I REALLY want to know what it was so I don’t buy it again.

I didn’t realise that Herbal Essences did a dry shampoo! I’d be interested to try it xx

  9. April 6, 2018 / 11:40 am

That is SO cool you got selected as an Elle Canada Beauty Grand Prix Juror! I REALLY want to know what all of the products are, LOL.

Okay, maybe I need to give the Batiste dry shampoo for dark hair a shot. I’ve just never had luck with dry shampoos! Maybe it’s because I’ve only tried the “regular” Batiste ones and don’t use enough of it for fear it’ll leave a white cast. I’ve tried the Herbal Essences one (although it was a different one from yours) and I didn’t find it any better or worse than the Batiste one I’ve tried.

Perhaps you can pick up the Soy Face Cleanser during the Sephora sale?

    • AlwaysCleia
      April 6, 2018 / 11:47 am

This is the second year for me being selected! If you want to apply for next years grand prix check out their website in November and sign up!

Try it out! I don’t really notice much of a white cast but if you do you can brush it out. For dark hair the tinted one would probably be great if you’re worried about the powder showing up. It didn’t work for me when my blonde roots were growing in but if you’re a natural brunette I think it would be alright.

The cleanser is in my sephora cart along with 10 other things I can’t afford haha!

      • April 6, 2018 / 1:17 pm

I had never even heard of it until this post! ‘ll definitely have to remember to sign up next November…you might have to remind me haha.

Hmm, I’ve actually never tried brushing it out – maybe I’ll do that! I still have a half-finished bottle so I don’t know if I want to just throw it out and buy the brunette one, or try to use it up.

Haha, the struggle is real when it comes to cutting products from the cart!

        • AlwaysCleia
          April 9, 2018 / 11:40 pm

lol I’ll try to remember! It’s not guaranteed that you’ll be chosen, I think I was a last minute choice because I got my confirmation email the same day that my response was due xD But it’s worth signing up, all the products are full size πŸ™‚
On the bright side dry shampoo doesn’t take super long to finish!

  10. April 6, 2018 / 9:53 am

Such great products! I LOVE the Bifacil and the fresh cleanser! <3

    • AlwaysCleia
      April 6, 2018 / 11:42 am

They’re staples on my skincare shelf! Thanks for reading πŸ™‚

  11. April 6, 2018 / 9:31 am

Great post, I enjoyed reading!! I actually heard good thing about the Mario Badescu Rose water spray, I really want to get it! Also, Batiste is my favorite brand for dry shampoo, I think they are great!

    • AlwaysCleia
      April 6, 2018 / 11:41 am

      Thanks Joy! πŸ™‚
The rose spray is one of the more affordable Mario Badescu products I’ve noticed, the one I have is the travel size which cost $9cad and I’ve only gone through 1/4 of a bottle so far. Definitely try it out if you get the chance!
I wish I hadn’t tried a different dry shampoo brand, Batiste is the way to go!
