In today’s post I’m sharing my first impressions of the new Julep Love Your Bare Face Detoxifying Cleansing Balm Stick. I was introduced to Julep nail polish back in December, and have obsessively been stalking the website ever since (no shame). This is one of the items I chose for my Julep Maven Subscription Box this month and I’ve been using it daily since it arrived.
Julep Love Your Bare Face Cleansing Balm
Julep Love Your Bare Face cleansing balm is made up of rice bran, grapefruit peel, and camellia seed oils and also pomegranate enzymes. It is meant to remove impurities while also exfoliating. Supposedly it evens skin tone, clarifies, exfoliates, and cleanses.
I was intrigued by this product from the moment I saw it. Most of my face washes are in gel form, with the exception of one cream cleanser, so I was excited to give Love Your Bare Face a try.
Julep Love Your Bare Face has the most gorgeous packaging. The writing is silver and shines based on where the light hits it (though it’s hard to tell from the picture) and the container seems to gleam. The cap screws on and the bottom twists the product up like a lip balm. It’s convenient for travel or camping since it won’t spill in my bag.
How It Holds Up
I noticed after one use that the balm is fairly drying, however just about anything dries my skin. If I apply a moisturizer right away it gets rid of the dry spots, so it’s not really a problem for me. I was expecting to find harsh granules in it since it claims to exfoliate, but I didn’t find it to be grainy or coarse at all!
I was expecting a fruity smell because of the pomegranate and grapefruit, but it really just smelled like soap.
I think I really just like the novelty of having a cleanser that applies like a lip balm, I can’t get over how neat the idea is. I can apply it straight to my face without lathering, it saves me a bit of time in the mornings since I can just swipe it across my face and remove with a damp facecloth.
If you have oily skin I think this would be a good product to try. I’ll be using it up but it’s not a game changer for dry skin. I would consider putting this in a maven box again, but I don’t think I would ever go out of my way to pay $28 for it full price, it’s not worth that much in my opinion.
Have you tried the Love Your Bare Face cleansing balm?
