Julep Night Shift Sleeping Mask Review

I’ve been searching for a moisturizing night cream or mask for a while now. I was planning to splurge on some skincare products at Sephora when I saw the Julep Night Shift Sleeping Mask listed as an option in my April Julep beauty box. The website reviews rave about it’s effectiveness so I figured I couldn’t go wrong, especially since my April box was free. I’ve been using this every night for the past month now.

Price: Regular $34, Maven Price $27.20
Claims: The product claims to help repair skin during sleep for a brighter, smoother, and firmer complexion.

Julep Night Shift Sleeping Mask

I was impressed with the packaging. It comes in a 2.8 oz white tube with silver lettering and a metallic cap. The tube was smaller than I expected, but when I first used it I found the formula to be extremely dense so I don’t use a lot of product with each application. I’m someone who doesn’t like to be coated in heavy layers of product so I’ve been mixing it with a bit of water to help spread out the formula. I only need a toothpaste sized dollop to coat my entire face and neck.

The mask feels heavy at first but it absorbs quickly and the feeling goes away. The smell is a little strong, it’s not bad but it kind of reminds me of medicine.

How It Holds Up

I was expecting to find my face oily the next day since the formula is so dense but my face felt soft and moisturized. I have dry skin so if you have oilier skin this might not work well for you.

The website reviews say that this has made acne worse for some people, but I’m luckily not one of them. I also read that this mask helps to reduce acne scars but I haven’t noticed a difference in mine to be honest. My skin feels smoother, but I wouldn’t say it’s brighter or firmer (though I’m 23 so my skin is still pretty young).

My Rating: 8/10

This mask is inexpensive compared to other skincare masks, and because I have a Julep Maven subscription it’s worth it to throw it in my box for the steep discount.

What’s your night time skincare routine? Have you tried this mask and if so what did you think? Thanks for reading! If you liked this post please like/comment/subscribe, I’d love to hear from you! You can also find me on Instagram  & Twitter!
