June Favourites 2019

Hey everyone! Another month has come and gone. I know everyone is saying “where has the year gone, it’s half over omg” but honestly I’m just rolling with it and enjoying the warmer weather. Time passes. We get older. I might as well enjoy it instead of getting all worked up!

June & July are my favourite months of the year. I’m fully embracing glowy summer makeup and wearing tank tops & shorts! My friends & I are having a fire every weekend and enjoying roasting marshmallows and hot dogs (veggie for me!). It’s been nice to just put my feet up.

Anyways, this post isn’t meant to be just random rambling, I have favourites to share with you guys!

Becca Glow Lip Icing Gloss Review

Becca Cosmetics Glow Gloss

I recently found a $15 set of the Becca Glow Glosses at Marshalls and I cant. stop. talking. about. them. I’m starting to worry that you guys are going to get annoyed at me for constantly posting about them on instagram or mentioning them in my blog posts but you guys! These glosses are sooo good!

They’re not sticky at all and the colors are so gorgeous. I am particularly enamoured with the red Candy Cane Glow Gloss from the set and I will absolutely be purchasing more of these lip glosses in the future. Becca Cosmetics, you know how to do lipgloss.

Essence Make Me Brow Gel

Essence Make Me Brow Gel

I’ve pulled out my Essence Make Me Brow Gel once again. I didn’t use it for months and months but now that I’ve gone platinum blonde I find that I can get away with more natural looking brows. The Essence Make Me Brow Gel saves so much time in my routine, I swipe it through my brows to tame them and give them a little bit of shape and it takes literally 20 seconds. Done and done.

Toffee & Lemon Cream Single Shadows

Sydney Grace Cosmetics Lemon Cream Shadow

This shadow is amazing! I’m obsessed with this yellow shade all over my eyelids. I normally wouldn’t think to wear yellow all over my eyes but I’m absolutely loving this shade. It’s a lemon meringue pie yellow and it’s everything that Summer should be.

ColourPop Brown Sugar Palette Swatches

ColourPop X Karrueche Brown Sugar Palette

Yes, I’ve been reaching for a neutral palette all month! I’ve done a few colourful eyeshadow palette reviews this month but when I’m not trying new formulas for the blog I’m probably wearing the ColourPop Brown Sugar palette on my eyes. I honestly need a backup of this palette because if it’s ever discontinued I will be seriously devastated.

I’ve been keeping Brown Sugar nearby for the transition shades lately, even when I’m using more colourful palettes. If my home burned down and I could only save one palette this would be it.

Pixi Makeup Fixing Mist & Peel & Polish

Pixi Beauty Makeup Fixing Mist

I’ve been using this mist constantly, it’s become one of my favourite setting sprays! I also featured in my April favourites which should give you a good idea of how much I love this spray. It smells so nice and I do notice a difference in the overall appearance of my makeup when I use it. It helps to make my foundation look more skin-like and last longer overall.

Neutrogena Hydro Boost Gel Creme Review

Skincare & Haircare

Neutrogena Hydro Boost for Extra Dry Skin

I picked this moisturizer up again and I was reminded of all the reasons I loved it in the first place. My skin drinks this moisturizer up and the Hyaluronic Acid really helps to keep my skin quenched throughout the day. I noticed an immediate decline in the appearance of my skin when I ran out of this moisturizer a week ago. A trip to the drugstore is needed ASAP.

June Favourites | Living Proof Whipped Glaze

Living Proof Colour Care Whipped Glaze

This leave in foam has transformed my hair. After I bleached my hair blonde it quickly turned Brassy despite using purple shampoo & conditioner. After turning to my insta fam I tried a few new products for my hair including this toning treatment. It did an amazing job of making my hair look icy again! It’s a purple mousse that you apply on damp hair and it helps to neutralize brass. I will definitely be using this up!

Stay tuned for my Platinum Blonde Haircare Routine!

June Favourites | Aloe Vera

House & Home

Aloe Vera

A co-worker planted me a little aloe vera plant named Lyle as a housewarming gift. She named it, not me and I’m rolling with it. Lyle almost died when I forgot to water it and my cat Ion also punctured it a few times with his teeth. Lyle is now doing much better now and it’s brown leaves have turned green again!

It’s so nice to have plants in the house, even if I have to hide them in my office so the cats don’t destroy them.

June Favourites | Vegetable Garden

My tiny vegetable garden

This Summer has been a season of discovery for Mike & I. Since we’ve settled into our new home we’ve discovered something new in the yard every week. From the apple tree blossoms to the random gardening tools we found under our deck we’ve been constantly finding things we didn’t know were there. They previous owners apparently planted a ton of perennials because we discovered lilies and interesting flowers coming back along our back fence this Summer.

They left us a flower pot filled with dirt and I foolishly started a carrot & chives garden in it. Fast forward a month later when random flowers started popping up all around my vegetables! I know now for next year, we’re going to dig up an actual garden patch next Spring πŸ™‚

Time Off

I took 12 days off this Summer. It is literally the first time in 5 years at my job that I’ve taken time off in the Summer. I don’t know why I’ve been bending over backwards for everyone but myself lately, 2019 is the year that I realized it had to change.

If you guys have been reading my life update posts or instagram updates you might have heard that I had a rough go of 2019 up until this Summer. I was too stressed out to enjoy anything, including our new home. After months of this I decided that enough is enough.

Since then I’ve let go of a lot of the things I would stress out over. I’ve been doing things for myself lately and have been all the happier for it. I’m taking advantage of my ability to refuse long stretches of work, and to take time off whenever I need it. I wish I had taken control of my life sooner. I can’t believe today is my last day off, I’m not ready to go back!

June Favorites Beauty & Lifestyle 2019

What have you been loving this Summer?

Thank you for reading all about my Favourite for June! I love these posts because I can talk about whatever has been on my mind lately, even if the products aren’t new anymore. Favourites are nice & laid back. Let’s talk soon! x

  1. July 25, 2019 / 1:20 am

I NEED to try those BECCA glosses, they sound like an absolute dream. I’ve never heard of Sydney Cosmetics but that yellow shadow is SO pretty & perfect for summer!

Your aloe is so cute. Love that it’s named Lyle lol. I have the same problem of my cats biting & eating plants around the house but, I’m glad you were able to revive it after its wounds!!

Taking control of your life & doing things for YOU will be the best change in your life!! Happy for you, Cleia!! <3 Thanks for sharing your favorites, I always love reading!!

    • July 29, 2019 / 2:33 am

They’re so so good! A lot of their value sets come with lip glosses if you don’t mind trying minis! SGC is such a great brand. I need to order more from them in the future.

haha yes me too! It’s nice to have plants in the house. omg I don’t know why they need to try to eat the plants! Silly cats!

Thank you so much for your support! x

      • July 29, 2019 / 7:56 pm

I checked out some of their value sets on Sephora & none of them interested me lol I think I’ll buy a single lip gloss in due time. I keep getting more & more tempted with every raving review lol.

The cats really are so silly because I heard a lot of plants are deadly to them too!!

        <3 <3

        • August 4, 2019 / 12:41 am

That’s ok! They don’t have a whole lot of selection for sets right now.

Yes it’s true! Lillies especially are dangerous. They’re my favourite flower but I never buy them anymore.

  2. July 14, 2019 / 5:26 pm

Poor Lyle! Glad he survived, haha. I’m definitely curious about those Sydney Grace shadows. The thing is though, I just don’t seem to use singles.. I don’t know what my problem is. I’m glad you are loving the Pixi Makeup Fixing Mist. I have been using that product for years and I don’t see myself stopping anytime soon!

    • July 18, 2019 / 3:00 pm

Yes me too! I don’t know why my cats are so fascinated with destroying plants 😹
No that’s fair! I picked up a mini ColourPop palette for my singles and I find I reach for them more when they’re in palette form. But if I have singles just lying around I don’t use them.

I’ll be repurchasing the mist for sure!

  3. July 8, 2019 / 12:35 pm

You sound so much less stressed even on your blog! Between the summer months being your favorite, and taking more time for yourself, you sound so much happier! I love that you’re looking after your own health and work-life balance. Good for you!! Also, how fun to have all those plants! It’s always so much fun to watch them grow, blossom, and even produce veggies. Oh and that’s too funny that flowers grew around your vegetable plants!

    • July 8, 2019 / 4:46 pm

The time off has been good for me! I think this year is looking up finally 😊
I love having all these plants now! I never had a place to put them in our old house but the upstairs office is perfect now. Haha yes I’m still learning what was planted where in the yard πŸ˜‚

  4. July 8, 2019 / 7:13 am

It makes sense to me that you love and keep talking about the glosses lol I mean you did get them for a way cheaper price or so I assume 😊
The essence make me brow is actually a nice product. I believe I might have had that one a long time ago, back when I first start blogging.
Ah plants are so nice to have in the home! They purify the air and make you feel loads better. I’d definitely recommend you get some gorgeous plants for your home but be careful, some are no good for pets.

    • July 8, 2019 / 4:55 pm

I got the set for $15 so it was a steal! And it’s a great formula.
That’s when I first got mine too! There are so many things I used to love when I started blogging that I’m just getting back into now.
The plants have to stay in my office with the door closed because Ion wants to eat them πŸ˜‚

      • July 10, 2019 / 12:56 pm

I totally need to look back and see what products I used to love and use often and try them again and see if I’ve changed my mind on them πŸ™‚

        • July 11, 2019 / 1:58 am

That sounds like a great blog post idea! You should definitely do that!

  5. July 7, 2019 / 9:00 pm

omg yas girl, so glad to hear that you finally took some time off! I know you’ve been working yourself to death. I’m glad to hear that you’re enjoying your summer girl! Loved seeing all your faves πŸ™‚ xx

Yes!! I forgot what I was missing outside of work, it was so nice to be off even if it rained the whole time.
I’m already planning my next trip! Thanks for reading πŸ™‚

  6. July 7, 2019 / 8:56 am

Bravo for taking time off in the summer! It’s a great time of year to do that. I’m actually on the hunt for a really affordable brow gel, so perhaps I’ll try out that one from Essence. I remember I tried one years ago from Rimmel that I didn’t quite like. Funny that you mentioned a Hydro Boost product from Neutrogena! I’ve been testing out some of their Hydro Boost makeup products for some posts for next month, and now I’m very intrigued by all the skincare! I really love Neutrogena products on the whole so I’m making a mental note πŸ˜‰.

    • July 7, 2019 / 12:42 pm

Unfortunately it rained almost every single day of my holiday but it was nice to just not be at work for a while!
The essence one is really good for the price. The spoolie is a little scratchy but for under $5 I’m not going to complain too much lol
oh exciting! I’ve never tried Neutrogena’s makeup products so that will be an interesting read. I love the hydro boost skincare line!

      • July 7, 2019 / 5:22 pm

Oh dear, that happens a lot in NY too; we get loads of rain here too! I don’t really complain about cheap, cheap products either. As long as it does a half-decent job, I’m OK with it! I might have to try out some of the Neutrogena skincare bits in the future when my current products run out. I would love to find good quality drugstore skincare!

        • July 8, 2019 / 8:13 pm

I know we need the rain so I shouldn’t complain but it’s nice to see sunny skies sometimes!
Let me know if you ever do try their skincare, I’d love to hear your thoughts on it!

          • July 9, 2019 / 3:39 pm

Definitely! I think after my bougee moisturizer is gone I’ll wander over to the drugstore πŸ˜‰πŸ˜Š.

          • July 11, 2019 / 2:00 am

Nothing wrong with drugstore products! But it’s great that you got to try this.

  7. July 6, 2019 / 4:03 pm

Good for you for taking time for yourself!

And the karreuche palette looks amazing!

  8. July 6, 2019 / 7:16 am

Great favourites! I’m always so in awe of your photos too!

    • July 7, 2019 / 2:00 am

Thank you so much! And thanks for reading πŸ™‚ x

Omg I am so mad I still haven’t gone for it and bought any of the Pixi products yet, I’m really slackin’!! I really want to try the serum but that setting spray looks nice. The Becca glosses are sooo lovely and I loved every color you talked about! Your aloe vera plant is so cute too, and I love the pot that it’s in! I’m always into getting cute pots for my plants at home πŸ™‚

    • July 6, 2019 / 12:27 am

Pixi products are a bit on an investment so I don’t blame you for taking your time! I have so many things that I’ve wanted to try for a long time but haven’t gotten around to it.
They’re my new favourite gloss, I wish I had tried them years ago! And thanks! Plants really make a space feel like home πŸ™‚

  10. July 5, 2019 / 6:48 pm

I love the Neutrogena Hydroboost Gel Cream! I got my boyfriend on it too now! Also that garden is the cutest! I wish my garden could look as cute, but all my plants are in round planters on a balcony xD

    • July 6, 2019 / 12:25 am

That’s awesome that you both love it! Can you convince my husband to use it too? LOL I’ve been trying to get him to get together a skincare routine forever now haha
Round planters are nice too! Next year I will dig up an actual vegetable patch so the planters can just have flowers.

  11. July 5, 2019 / 4:51 pm

I always feel like if bloggers mention products multiple times it does show how much they enjoy them. The Brown Sugar palette does look stunning from your swatches, are you close to hitting pan on any shades?

    • July 6, 2019 / 12:13 am

That’s true! I never want people to get bored from me mentioning the same things again and again but sometimes if it ain’t broke don’t fix it!
I don’t think I am, even though I’ve been using it a ton. These pans are actually pretty deep!

      • July 6, 2019 / 12:17 am

You’re fine, not boring in the slightest!

  12. July 5, 2019 / 8:39 am

Lovely post!! I’d love to have an aloe vera plant, I know it’s great to apply on the face!!

    • July 6, 2019 / 12:12 am

I’ve heard that too! I feel guilty breaking off it’s leaves though, I’m crazy haha
