Hey guys, today’s post is my June & July Empties. I’ve finished quite a bit of makeup, skincare & haircare lately, sometimes I go through periods of finishing nothing and other times it seems like everything is going in the box. One of my empties this month is the Clarins Bust Beauty Extra Lift Gel, which is meant to lift the bust area. I tried it out and went on a rant about finding correct bra sizes in Canada, it’s harder than you might think for girls with a non-standard size.
Marcelle Precision Eyeliner Pen
I really liked this pen, I used it so much that the label completely wore away. If my eyeliner stash ever depletes you can bet that I will be buying another of these. Repurchase? Yes.
Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Eyeliner Pen
While I did enjoy using this liner I found it dried up a lot faster than other lines I’ve used. The tip is really fine though and perfect for that sharp wing. Repurchase? We’ll see.
I took to instagram to see if you guys thought that I should keep trying to finish this bronzer. Arbonne isn’t a company that I really respect and the bronzer was getting crumbly. I had hit pan and it was over 4 years old. The response was 100% get rid of it so that’s what I did. I scraped out all the leftover bronzer so I could recycle the packaging.
Becca First Light Primer Mini
I’m so sad that this primer is finished, I loved this! It’s so hydrating and the purple tint gives my skin a bit of added radiance. Repurchase? I have two other primers to go through, but after that I will either repurchase this primer or Becca’s Backlight Primer.
Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Foundation
I was surprised when I finished this up. I thought it had another week or two left in it but I finished it right after I took all my empties photos for this post (of course right?). I have a full review on Ultra HD Here. Repurchase? Maybe once I’ve finished off a couple other foundations in my stash.
Sephora Sunbleached filter Palette
I’m sad to see this go but it’s time. This palette is about three years old at this point. I bought it in Hawaii at the Sephora in Whaler’s Village and I loved it. It was my first introduction to makeup that wasn’t from the drugstore and for a beginner it was great. My skill level has improved since then though and I’m just not reaching for it anymore. I’ve also hit pan on almost every shade so I consider it well loved. This palette is no longer available.
e.l.f. Cosmetics Eyeshadow Quad
I’m decluttering this for the same reason as the Sephora Palette. I don’t reach for it, I have these shades in better formulas from my non-drugstore palettes so there’s no point in keeping it around. I am keeping a different e.l.f. quad though with a different set of shades.
e.l.f. Cosmetics Matte Lip Colour in Rich Red
I do really like the formula of these lipsticks. For $3 you can’t really go wrong, I have one other shade in this line that I am keeping. I’m decluttering this lipstick purely because the shade doesn’t suit me. I’m never happy with how it looks on me and I have since found my perfect red.
Time To Get Real About Bra Sizes
I promise that this isn’t completely random, I have an empty that relates to this topic. I don’t really talk about this on my blog but I find bra sizes to be infuriating in North America. Victoria Secret & Lasenza are the two big lingerie stores near me and neither one has a good bra fitting system as far as I’m concerned. Lasenza especially has a completely messed up bra guide. I measure 28 around my ribcage just under the bust, but lasenza claims that girls with a measurement of 28, 29, & 30 are a 34 inch band. So for me that adds six full inches to my band which offers me literally. Zero. Support.
I spent years feeling uncomfortable in my own skin, tugging at my clothes and wondering why no sports bras (or any bras for that matter) seemed to fit me properly. I could only get a big enough cup size if I went up to a 34 band which gave me next to no support in the band. So imagine me, 16 years old in gym class and ashamed to change in the change room because I had to wear two bras at once to get even close to the right amount of support to play basketball. So finally I stumbled upon Linda The Bra Lady, a New York based Boutique and her correct bra size guide saved my life. I didn’t even know that my real bra size existed up until that point.
Even though VS finally expanded their size range they still have next to nothing for girls with tiny ribcages and large cup sizes. I’m a 30E in UK brands, but for a 30 ribcage at VS the largest cup size you can get is a D. No wonder there are surveys that show that only 1 in 10 women are wearing the correct bra size. Cue the next Empty and why I jumped down the bra size rabbit hole…
Clarins Bust Beauty Extra Lift
The point of those last three paragraphs is that because I have a larger chest size (and ridiculously tiny rib cage) I find it really hard to get that lifted look. I was hoping that Clarins Bust Beauty could maybe give me a bit of a boost. Unfortunately this product didn’t do much for me, but reading the reviews on Clarins’ site it sounds like it does help if you’re a C cup or lower. So that’s my rant on bra sizes, let’s move on now!
Omorovicza Balancing Moisturizer
I received this moisturizer in a Look Fantastic box and I was baffled as to why they wound send all subscribers a moisturizer meant for oily skin. It wasn’t hydrating enough for me in the winter, so I waited until spring & summer and paired it with a face oil. As far as moisturizers go it isn’t bad, but it’s expensive as hell. This bottle isn’t even full size and it retails for over $100CAD. It’s not worth it, there are $20 moisturizers at the drugstore that I like better than this one.
L’Occitane Milk Concentrate with Almond Milk
This sample came from the 2017 L’Occitane Luxury Beauty Advent Calendar. I only got about three uses out of this mini. It was really hydrating but I wasn’t the biggest fan of the smell. Repurchase? No.
Pharmacopia Verbena Body Lotion
This was a hotel mini. Normally I don’t like hotel products very much but this lotion smells sooo good, is non-greasy and very hydrating. Repurchase? Unfortunately Pharmacopia products are made specifically for hotel chains and are not available for purchase.
The Body Shop Banana Shampoo
This shampoo really does smell like bananas! It did a good job of cleaning my hair, but I have so many shampoos and conditioners from last year’s Elle Canada Grand Prix so I will need to finish all that up before I even think about repurchasing this shampoo.
TresEmmé Sea Salt Spray
This took me soo long to use up, I don’t style my hair very often so I didn’t have much use for it. It’s a nice light hold hairspray and the sea salt smell reminds me of the ocean. Repurchase? No.
Dove Regenerative Nourishment Serum-In-Oil
I had this sample for so long, it took me a really long time to use up. I didn’t really notice a difference my my hair while using it so I won’t be repurchasing.
What did you use up this month?
Thanks for reading! Hopefully you guys enjoyed this post and didn’t mind my rant too much. Let me know what products you finished up this month and remember to like & subscribe <3
