Hola beauties, I hope you’re doing well and had a fantastic holiday! I feel like my brain has been running a million miles an hour, December was an absolutely crazy month for me. These next few weeks are going to be extremely busy at work too. I miss my old part time work schedule where I worked from 2pm-6pm everyday. I had lots of time to work on my blog in the morning, workout and take care of things around the house. Then I’d go work for a few hours and be back in time for dinner with a relaxing evening ahead of me. Those were the good old days!
What can you do though right? Anyways, today I have a review for you of the Makeup Revolution Fast Bast Stick Foundation. I picked up this product in my MUR Haul in October and I’ve worn it through the warmer days of early Fall and the cold, snowy days of “almost” winter. I have a lot of thoughts on this stick foundation, some good, some bad. Are you curious about buying this foundation? If so keep reading!
Makeup Revolution Fast Base Stick Foundation Review
The Makeup Revolution Fast Base Stick Foundation retails for $9USD and contains 0.21oz of product. It comes in 18 different shades which are broken down by undertone online at Revolution Beauty. I’m reviewing the shade F2 which is for fair skin with yellow undertones. I consider this to be a medium to full coverage foundation. I don’t see much discolouration or scarring when I wear it. Keep in mind I don’t have a lot to cover so it’s hard for me to tell sometimes!
The packaging of the Revolution Fast Base Stick Foundation is freaking gorgeous! The rose gold packaging and minimalistic design work together to make a very sleek looking product. The rose gold part of the tube twists the the product up or down. Some twist-up products aren’t retractable so I really like that the Fast Base Stick foundation is. The packaging gets an A+ from me.
The name “Fast Base” really does say it all. It’s so easy to apply this foundation to my face! I can dot it all over or swipe, it doesn’t really make a difference. I’ve noticed that I’m using up this product quite fast even though I’m still wearing it the same amount as my other foundations. That’s probably just due to how it applies. I find that it doesn’t blend as far as a liquid foundation if that makes sense. I really need to buff this into my skin, spreading it out is a little tough so I tend to use more of it.
Because the Fast Base stick foundation is a thicker, creamier product I have a hard time blending it out with makeup sponges. My best application method has been a dense buffing brush. Because my skin is so dry this foundation can emphasize dryness. What I’ve been doing is spraying my brush with a hydrating dewy spray before buffing to help keep my skin looking hydrated.
The finish of the Revolution stick foundation is meant to be dewy but it looks a little more matte on my dry skin.
How it Wears
I’ve now worn this Fast Base Stick Foundation through Fall & Winter. Okay, so it’s not even technically winter yet but we’ve had winter-like conditions here in Alberta for a while now. When I first got this the weather was cool outside but not cold. Now I’m shivering in my car!
With the colder weather comes dryness and I’ve noticed some differences. In the Fall I could get away with buffing this foundation out normally without any extra moisture on my brush. In December I definitely notice that my dry patches are emphasized if I don’t use an extra hydrating moisturizer and spray my brush with setting spray beforehand. I’ve also noticed that my pores do show through this foundation, which isn’t something I’ve ever really noticed before.
I can see that I have coverage on my face when I wear the Revolution Fast Base Stick Foundation but I don’t think it looks bad. It’s not the most natural finish but it can look nice when I’m going out for a nice dinner or for a special occasion.
Here I’m wearing the Wet N Wild Photofocus Dewy Primer underneath the MUR stick foundation which added a little bit of radiance to the finish. I still have a few tiny acne dots on my chin showing through but I think it covered my skin nicely. You can check out my WNW Dewy Primer Review post to see my skin before foundation!
