It’s officially April which means it’s time for me to recycle all my skincare & makeup empties. This month I’m combining my March Empties with a makeup declutter. I’ll be honest, I don’t enjoy reading makeup declutter posts. I find that they often feature hundreds of dollars of makeup that have gone to waste and I’m like, why!? At the same time it’s important to not use makeup way past it’s expiry date and if there’s something I haven’t reached for in two years it’s probably time to let go.
I also posted my March Empties video on Youtube which I’ve embedded at the bottom of this post! I go into more detail about each product in the video. Also let me know if you have a youtube channel, I just started mine and I’d love to support you too <3
Nail Care Empties
Julep Oxygen Bonding Base Coat
This base coat wasn’t anything amazing, but it helped prevent nail staining from red polish. My manis lasted maybe a day longer with this polish but it wasn’t anything special. Repurchase? No.
Julep nail Polish in Cally
This was one of my first Julep Polishes at the end of 2015. It’s a pretty colour but I have a lot of issues with the Julep polish formula thickening after only a few uses (I rant about this in my YT video). Repurchase? No.
Julep Voila! Nail Polish Thinner
This stuff really does work miracles for the Julep formula. I reviewed it Here. My issue is that I shouldn’t need a nail polish thinner to make my polish last longer than a month. I will be repurchasing enough of this to make the rest of my polish last but I won’t be buying any more polish.
South Mane Eye Gel Packs
These eye gels came in my March Boxycharm. They were so hydrating, I loved using them. Repurchase? Not these exact ones because I don’t want to pay shipping, but I’ll see what I can find that’s similar locally.
Fresh Soy Cleanser
I can’t even communicate how sad I am that this bottle is empty. This cleanser works wonders for my skin but it’s unfortunately very expensive and also not cruelty free. I repurchase from time to time but for now I’m using an Aveeno Soy Complex cleanser while I save up enough money to splurge again. Repurchase? Yes, soon.
Caudalie Vinosource SOS Serum
I have extremely dry skin so I did actually notice a difference in hydration levels with this serum. It smells nice, absorbs easily and didn’t feel greasy. Repurchase? YES.
Elemis Pro Collagen Marine Cream
This and the Caudalie serum came in the March LookFantastic Box. I enjoyed using this cream but it’s crazy expensive. The full size is over $100CAD. Repurchase? Not for that price.
L’Occitane Rose Hand Cream
This came in the Luxury Beauty Advent Calendar from 2017. I love L’Occitane hand creams, I’ll most likely repurchase once I’m done the others from the calendar.
Ole Henricksen Invigorating Night Transformation Gel
This night serum was not my jam. It smells like vinegar and did nothing for my skin. Repurchase? No.
Kate Somerville Retinol Firming Eye Cream
For $102CAD this eye cream should be amazing but t’s just mediocre. It didn’t do anything wonderful for my skin aside from provide a small amount of hydration. This and the Ole Henricksen came from the Sephora Favourites Beauty Sleep Set. Repurchase? No.
The Body Shop Vanilla Chai Body Wash
This body wash smelled nice. I discovered TBS’s shower creams last year which are amazing for dry skin so I’ll probably purchase that over this one the next time I need a body wash.
ColourPop Brow Boss Pencil
No no no!!! I was so sad that I finished this pencil, I really liked it! for $5 it’s such a great deal and I felt like I could actually make my brows look acceptable for once with this pencil. Repurchase? DEFINITELY.
Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara
It seems that you either love or hate this mascara. I know many bloggers who swear by it but for me I found it flaked dreadfully. I gave it a good couple months, now it’s time for me to move on. Repurchase? No.
Silicone Makeup Sponge
I had to try one of these silicone sponges out when they were all the rage, but it wasn’t for me. First of all, how can I even call these sponges!? They’re applicators, not sponges. They don’t absorb any product so I can’t sheer out my coverage the way I like and they just don’t blend my foundation properly. There are people who love these applicators and all the power to them, but they aren’t for me. Repurchase? NOOOO.
BH Cosmetics Lipstick in Beauty Bite
I bought this lipstick a month or two before starting my blog. It’s a pretty red shade but I now prefer liquid lipsticks to bullet lipsticks when wearing red shades. They tend to transfer so I prefer knowing that it won’t get on my teeth with a liquid formula that dries down. This lipstick has sadly sat at the bottom of my lipstick bag for the last year and a half and I think it’s time to let it go.
Lime Crime Metallic Liquid Velvetines Lipstick in Lana
This lipstick is a burnished bronze metallic shade. I redeemed it with Ipsy points back when subscribers could actually afford decent products with their points. Unfortunately I just don’t wear this shade. It’s very unique (I reviewed it here) but in my daily life I wearing a metallic brown/bronze lipstick doesn’t fit. I wish that blogging or YouTube could be my real life job, but it’s not and wearing this shade to work would get me a lot of weird looks!
