After months & month going by I’m back with a Boxycharm unboxing! I didn’t realize that it had been so long since I was last subscribed. Looking back through my old reviews my last Boxycharm box was in June, back when the Alamar Reina Del Caribe palette had just launched. I can’t believe how time has flown!
The main reason that I left Boxycharm was that five full sized beauty products a month is a lot to use up. I was drowning in products and I needed a break from new things every month. I also wanted to shop specific products & brands and Boxycharm had me feeling overwhelmed. That’s a big testament to how great of a subscription they are when the reason I left was because I had too many full sized products. It was refreshing after being an Ipsy Glam Bag subscriber for years.
The May Boxycharm
I always keep an eye on the spoilers for Boxycharm and when I saw what was coming out this month I had to opt in. My box took such a long time to arrive, it showed up during the last week of May. I even had a dream that I hated everything in the box by the time it arrived, I’m glad that didn’t turn out to be true!
The theme this month is “Making Waves”. My box contained a cleanser, primer, liquid eyeshadow, lipgloss and an eyelash curler. Let’s get into the products.
GlamGlow Gentle Bubble Daily Conditioning Cleanser – $28USD
I was really hoping I would get this product because, Glamglow. Glamglow is expensive so I never treat myself to their products. I’ve been able to try a few things through subscription boxes and Sephora points perks but this is my first full sized product from them!
Glamglow Gentle Bubble is free of parabens, pthalates, SLS and SLES. It contains Oat Amino acids for conditioning and is blended with Apple extract, Vitamin E and Green Tea Leaf.
I assumed that this cleanser would be like those bubble sheet masks you can buy that foam all over your face, so I was a little disappointed that it’s just a normal foaming cleanser. The bubble design is on the packaging, with the reflective oil slick colours of blue purple & green. I’ll need to test this over time before deciding how I feel about it!
Pür Cosmetics Eyelash Curler – $18USD
I’m trying to give Pür a second chance after the awful Pür x Boxycharm palette collaboration. It was the worst eyeshadow palette I’ve ever used and I’ve had a really hard time trusting that their products are worth my money ever since! I did like their Sculptor face palette, (at least the highlighters in it) so I’m trying to forgive and forget.
This eyelash curler is pretty good so far. I wish that it came with a replacement pad for when this one inevitably wears out, most curlers come with an extra so it’s a little odd that it didn’t. But it curls my lashes better than my drugstore curler which desperately needed to be replaced and it matches the glamglow packaging!
Ciaté London Eye Lustre Glitter-Créme Liquid Shadow – $22USD
This was probably my least favourite product in the box. I’ve liked most products that I’ve tried from Ciaté London, their bamboo bronzer was a favourite for a long time and I love their Liquid Velvet lipsticks.
But liquid shadow is generally something that I don’t like. The only liquid shadows that I’ve actually enjoyed is the Stila Glitter & Glow liquid shadows so I wasn’t really expecting to like the Ciaté Eye Lustres. This shade isn’t awful but I found it a little bit hard to apply. I’ll have to play with it some more. It’s VERY glittery!
I received the shade Ice.
Milk Makeup Luminous Blur Stick – $36USD
Subscribers either received the Milk Makeup Luminous Blur Stick or an Alamar Cosmetics Blush Trio. I was hoping for the palette but the more I think about it the more I’m happy that I got the blur stick. I don’t really get excited for blushes and after splurging $38 on a Jouer Blush Duo I realized that I really don’t get excited to wear blush. Go figure.

The Milk Luminous Blur stick is a matte primer. When I think luminous I think dewy, and I definitely didn’t look dewy after using it. Now that I’ve read up on the product I’m like oooh it’s matte. The formula is silicone and oil free and uses blurring microspheres to absorb oil & blur pores for a matte finish. It is also supposedly infused with golden pearls to add a luminous look to the skin. I can’t wait to test this out and review it!
Luna By Luna Venus Lip Gloss – $18USD
I’m not sure how I feel about this gloss because it’s a beautiful shade, but it also smells/tastes like crayons. I’m not a fan of tasting that, especially when I’m eating/drinking.
I have the shade Venus which is such a stunning bronze-gold shade for summer. It’s not really glittery nor is it completely opaque so it’s a great shade to swipe on as you head out the door — No mirror needed. The taste is such a deal breaker though!
May Boxycharm Value
The total of all my products worked out to $122USD. After paying shipping I spent $26USD, or ~$35CAD. I’m happy with my Boxycharm but I’ll be taking a break once again from this subscription because my summer FabfitFun box will be arriving in June! Only one subscription at a time for this girl.
What did you get in your May Boxycharm?
Thank you for reading! Please let me know if you enjoy reading subscription box unboxings and if you want to see more on my blog. I can’t wait to try these products! x
While i got the glamglow cleanser and the liquid eye shadow, the rest of the items I got in this box is completely different! I got a gorgeous blush set, and a brow pencil! I like seeing what you got though. How are you liking the cleanser now that you’ve been using it for a while? I haven’t opened mine yet, since I’m trying to finish another cleanser first! Great post xxx

I don’t know why I didn’t realize until now that you were a boxycharm subscriber! I’m sure you must have mentioned it at some point lol
I wish I had got the brow pencil! The cleanser is good so far. I think because I’m oilier right now it’s not stripping my skin as much as it would in winter. I’m not using it everyday but I’m certainly getting good use out of it!
I actually got it for my sister for christmas, and I liked the boxes so much, that I recently signed up myself! We ended up splitting the cost, and splitting what’s in each of the boxes, so it cuts the cost and the amount of unused product we end up having! I’m excited for the palette coming out this month!

that’s such a great idea! I wish I had a sister that I could do that with, that’s a good way to keep the products from piling up too much. The July box looks so good!
I didn’t know they were even giving out an eyelash curler last month. You’re the only unboxing I’ve seen that got that! & I’m so happy to read that you had trouble with the liquid eyeshadow too, only because I had such a hard time but have seen others apply it beautifully.
I think I would’ve been more excited about the Blur Stick over the blush palette, too. Cannot wait to read your review on it & to see what you get in your FFF box! 😄

I haven’t seen many people with this variation either! They must have had a limited quantity of the curlers. Yeah the shadow wasn’t my favorite! I’ll have to play with it again and see if I can make it work, but it’s just not something I would wear everyday anyways.
I’m in the process of testing the blue stick so hopefully I can get that review out soon! My Fabfitfun unboxing is up now 😊
Omg you got some good products too! Yay! I kind of would have liked to have gotten that eyelash curler only because I need one but I’m quite happy with my box.
I didn’t like the creme liquid shadow either. Just wasnt what I was expecting.
And I cannot wait to hear your thoughts on that blur primer, even if it is matte, it might come in handy during the summer

I think overall the box was pretty good this month, even the variations that I didn’t get. I need to play with the liquid shadow more, but I don’t see myself actually reaching for it. Sorry it didn’t work for you either!
I’ve been using it a ton lately! I’m still making up my mind on it so I’ll hopefully be able to update you soon 🙂
I know right? Hopefully the boxes keep getting better and better because they have been a bit awful since the year started lol
I used it a couple times and I kind of concluded that I do not like it 🤣🤣
Author
I hope so too! I’m not getting the June box but I’ll be watching spoilers for July 🙂
I’m currently waiting for my June box to arrive. The label was created on the 4th but they have yet to get the box itself.. I hope it’s not late again. In March I got it by like the end of the month

Hopefully it arrives soon! It’s weird it took so long for you when you’re a regular monthly subscriber 🤨
Ooh I love that it came with an eyelash curler!! Also, your photos are gorgeous!! Great job!
Author
I needed a new eyelash curler so bad! Thanks Courtney! I love taking time for a good photo session 🙂
Liquid eyeshadows can definitely be difficult to use. I prefer creamy sticks instead! Never tried anything from Glamglow either; they strike me as a style over substance kinda brand, but what do I know?
Author
I guess I like to stick with what I know, powder shadows will always be my favourite! What’s your preferred eyeshadow stick?
There are some people who swear by glamglow, but some products just seem so gimmicky!
Hmm, probably the Bobbi Brown Longwear Cream Shadow Sticks or the Laura Mercier Caviar Sticks. Both come in a lot of colors & finishes, and they apply/blend really well too!
Author
I remember hearing about the Caviar sticks a while back, I’ll keep them in mind! And the Bobbi Brown. I’ve never tried anything from Bobbi before! Thanks for your recommendations!
No problem! Love the quality of Bobbi Brown stuff. I think they’re a bit under the radar, specifically in terms of social media (kinda like Clinique).
Author
Yeah I almost never see them on social media, it’s a shame!
I’ve been using GLAMGLOW’s supermud clearing treatment for a few months and my skin has never looked better, so I think it’s well worth the investment. It’s the first GG product I’ve tried and the most I’ve ever spent on a product but I’ll buy it again!
Author
That’s great! If it works then it’s definitely worth the money. I think I have a mini of that lying around somewhere, I need to dig it out again. Thanks for reading!
You know, I’ve never really found a great liquid eyeshadow ever. They are so difficult to work with that id just rather not.
Crayon lipstick? Ew.
But that blur stick sounds like it’s going to be great!
Author
The Stila ones are the only liquid shadows I will use! But I’d rather just do a normal look with power eyeshadow lol
Crayon lipstick = NO
I’m testing the blur stick! I think it will be great for the hotter days this summer!
You received wonderful products for such a good price! I can’t wait to read you’re thoughts on the MILK primer. I am curious to try it out!!

It was such a great box this month! I’ve had some months that were just okay but this one was definitely worth the price. Ive been testing it, I will share my thoughts asap! Thanks for reading Joy!
