Hey beauties! While getting ready for vacation I realized that I needed a new foundation. I have a BB cream that I’m planning on taking with me so I wanted something affordable that I could use in the meantime to save the BB for the trip! I decided on a bottle of Maybelline Fit Me Hydrate + Smooth in the shade 110 Porcelain. Well, does Maybelline fit me?
Maybelline Fit Me Hydrate + Smooth Foundation Review
What it is
Maybelline’s smoothing concentrate hydrates rough patches leaving skin with a naturally luminous finish.
Benefits
Ideal for normal to dry skin, this foundation hydrates and smoothes skin texture and leaves a naturally luminous finish. Protects with SPF 18.
Packaging
I find the packaging very attractive — The glass bottle has a satisfying weight to it and the labelling is concise without being flashy. Aside from looks, the bottle isn’t very functional in my opinion. The lid unscrews and the user has to tilt the bottle upside down to get the product out. I find it hard to dispense the proper amount of foundation and often end up with way too much. For glass bottle packaging I really think this product needs a pump.
Pros
- Attractive Packaging
- Normal to Dry Skin (There’s a Matte + Poreless version for normal to oily skin!)
- Blends Easily
- Affordably Priced A 1oz bottle retails for $10.99CAD (I got mine on sale for $6.99)
- Shade Selection This foundation comes in 16 shades
- Hydrating
- Buildable You can get a good medium coverage out of this foundation. I try not to apply too much or it will look cakey
- Contains SPF 18 According to the website that is, the bottle does not mention SPF

Blended out with a sponge I couldn’t even tell there was foundation on my hand!
Cons
- No Pump Dispenser
- Not “Dewy” The online description said this foundation has a “naturally luminous finish”, so I expected it to look dewier on the skin
- Chemical Smell Fit Me smells like paint to me! I mean, it kind of is in a way, but still.
- Hard to blend Bronzer and Blush I find it hard to blend my bronzers and blushes on top of Fit Me. Even if I tap out my brush the powder just wants to stick to the formula.

I had to include an eyeshadow shot, I loved my eye look here! xD

I’m wearing Becca Liquid Highlighter here on my cheek bones and the bridge of my nose, otherwise my face looked pretty flat.
Does Maybelline Fit Me?
Overall I think the pros out weight the cons. The formula applies well, and since the formula is a fast running liquid I don’t have problems getting it out of the bottle. A pump would be a great addition though! Although I like the way it photographs I feel like I only have “okay” makeup days when wearing Maybelline Fit Me Hydrate + Smooth. It probably has something to do with how everything blends together after applying brush, bronzer and highlight.
That being said, Maybelline Fit Me is a good drugstore alternative to pricier foundations. I will continue to wear Hydrate + Smooth for work and ordinary makeup days while saving my more expensive products for fancier occasions.
What’s your favourite drugstore foundation?

Personally I have dry skin, but it’s always great to read about foundations for oily skin as I like to do make up for all skin types… Great review! xoxo Sarah
I really like this foundation! I’ve worn both the matte and dewy formula. It wears well when it’s set with a powder and spray. I also like to mix it with other foundations.
Yay, glad you like it too! I think I’ll try the matte & poreless version next, I was a bit worried to pick it up though because my skin is so dry.
That’s too bad that you had a bit of trouble with this foundation! I use the Fit Me Matte + Poreless and set it completely with powder, and it is my HG. Looks flawless and everything blends like a dream on top. I know we might have different skin types, but the Matte + Poreless really isn’t all that matte and I don’t think that it is drying at all. Maybe give that one a try?
I was going to say that this looks quite dewy on you, until I saw that you said you were wearing highlighter! Either way, it looks quite beautiful on you with the highlighter 🙂 But ugh, I’m not sure I could get over a foundation that smell like paint?
It’s really weird, this foundation photographs really well on me, I think it looks much dewier in photos than it does in person. I don’t know why, I never use flash 😮
The smell goes away pretty quickly after applying, but I would prefer ot had no smell 😄 Thanks for reading!
Cleia your photos are stunning!! And I love how it looks on you. I totally get how sometimes foundations can look better on camera than they do in person though.
That’s too bad about it making your blush, bronzer, etc. harder to blend on top. I find that so annoying. I already have a hard time blending my bronzer that I don’t need my foundation fighting against me haha.
I do want to give the Matte + Poreless another shot. I tried it awhile back but my shade was too dark so I didn’t really use it.
Thanks girl! I had good lighting when I shot these ☺
I think it does actually look better on camera than in person, but it’s not bad at all!
Yeah I did find that weird, it’s the first time I’ve had that problem in a foundation. I need to really work my blending brushes!
It’s so hard to judge a face product when it’s the wrong shade, everything looks off! I know a lot of bloggers love the matte + poreless, I hope it works out for you if you give it another shot!
I love their foundation!!
I like this one too! There are definitely foundations I like more, but for the price point this is great!
It looks great on you! I’ve been wondering about this foundation. Your eyes are stunning too! Great post!
Thank you! I am 90% sure that this is the same as the fit me Dewy foundation, but I’m not entirely sure. Thanks Mare!
This absolutely fits you! Your pictures you take are beyond gorgeous!
Thank you Cassie! 😊
