My Top Apps For Blogging & Instagram

My Top 6 Bogging & Instaram Apps (1)

Hello everyone, welcome back to my blog! Today’s post is my top apps for blogging & instagram. When I first got started I had no idea where to start and some of these apps I only discovered recently. I wanted to share what I’ve learned about blogging/instagraming friendly apps in two years! Let’s get started…

Canva Logo

#1 – Canva

I learned about Canva from Melina from Melinaelisa. This program is seriously a game changer! I use it to make all of my featured images and the free templates are actually pretty good to build off of. With Canva you can create logos, banners, advertisement images, photo collages and more in your free account! Canva has it’s own free & paid stock images to choose from. There’s a Canva app but I usually use the website.

Phonto Logo

#2 – Phonto

I use Phonto to watermark all my images before uploading them to my blog. There’s a large selection of fonts you can use and you an customize the location, tilt, size, and colour of the text.

VSCO Logo

#3 VSCO

I haven’t found an app that I love for editing photos more than I love VSCO. There’s a large selection of filters you can use as well as customization options all on your phone. I believe it also has a social aspect where you can save photos to an online gallery and share with others but I never use that feature. I love that I can copy an editing preset from one photo to the next so all my images have the same look & feel.

Airbrush Logo

#4 Airbrush

Airbrush is probably the easiest photoshop-like editing app that I’ve found. I was using the Airbrush filters on my flatlays at one point but then I found VSCO. I like airbrush for it’s acne retouch feature. I have the curse of getting cold sores when I get stressed or run down so I’ll use the acne feature of the app to reduce the redness or size of noticeable coldsores because honestly they’re embarrassing for me.

Airbrush also has a whole bunch of other features like concealer, smoothness, makeup (yes, it will put fake makeup on you if you wish). It can even change the size of your jaw, nose, lips, etc. with the Sculpt function *Disclaimer: I NEVER change the proportions of my face or edit makeup onto my skin in my blog or instagram photos! The face you see is my real face.

Unfollowers for Instagram Logo

#5 Unfollowers

If you’ve tried to grow an account on Instagram you’ve probably been follow-unfollowed. This is where an account will follow you so that you’ll see their account, follow back, and then they immediately unfollow their new followers. It’s a sad reality of instagram, but if you’re like me and feel rather betrayed when you get follow-unfollowed โ€” There’s an app for that!

There are many actually, I use Unfollowers for Instagram. It shows me who doesn’t follow back, who has recently unfollowed, who my mutual followers are, who I don’t follow back as well as ghost followers (people that follow but don’t engage with my content). I really only worry about the unfollower function though!

Preview for Instagram Logo

#6 Preview

I recently started using Preview and it’s a lifesaver for me planning my Instagram grid. You can connect it to your instagram feed and it will load the images you already have in a preview window and then you can add and arrange your next images to see how they fit together. You can also schedule your posts from Preview. I used to upload to instagram and immediately regret how the photo posted looked beside the last picture so now I have an idea of how things will fit together.

Do you use any of these apps, or did I miss any of your favourites?

And there you have it, my top apps for blogging & instagram. I hope you all found this post helpful, let me know what your top blogging apps are! Thank you for reading, please like & subscribe <3

I love canva. Itโ€™s my favorite thing to use lol. I used to use VSCO but I stopped using it when I switched phones. Lol. I do like their filters but I have figured out how to fix all of that on IG and most of the time I hardly ever change the photo after I edit it on my laptop.
I use an unfollowers app too, I wonder if itโ€™s the same one. But i use it just to unfollow those who unfollow me lol

Are any of these apps free?

They all are! You can buy extra filter presents on vsco and I believe unfollowers has a paid portion if you want to remove adds but I use all these apps free from the app store ๐Ÿ˜€

Love this post! I use Phonto too but lately Iโ€™ve been so lazy about it as itโ€™s so tedious. I usually just use to to label swatch photos now. And I agree I definitely use a followers app because I hate those people that only follow you until you follow back then they unfollow you! Itโ€™s so rude and fake. I discovers Colourstory and thatโ€™s what I use to edit my photos now. For some reason VSCO was never an app I liked. xo.

      Thanks J! ๐Ÿ™‚
lol yeah it can be quite tedious, and I also know how easy it is to remove a watermark if someone really did want to steal my images, I’m counting on people being too lazy to bother haha!
I can understand clearing out older accounts that don’t support your account back, BUT it’s so rude to follow just to unfollow a day later, especially when it is someone who has followed back. Grrrrr!
I’ve never heard of colourstory, thanks for sharing it with me! I’ve had snapseed recommended to me but it’s too confusing for me.

I love canva! It helps me out a lot, especially because I am so bad at designing things and using technology like that. ๐Ÿ˜‚

Isn’t it sad that we, as bloggers, have to have that unfollowers app. I don’t use it often, I check it about once or twice a month, get rid of all those pesky people who follow to unfollow. I also use it keep track of those who have been super inactive posting. I get overwhelmed if I follow too many people, because then my favorites get lost. At the same time I like to give new people a chance, cause I never know when I’m going to find another person I love on Insta/Twitter. Great post Cleia!
I’m so glad you love Canva as much as I do! xxx

It is, it’s hard to know if people genuinely want to follow us or if they’re just fishing for followers. I was so cynical before I got the app but now I’m content knowing that I can find out who the follow-unfollows!
Oh yes that’s really true, sometimes I miss posts from the people I interact with the most because my feed is so full of other accounts. I have some post notification turned on but my phone would be constantly beeping if I did for everyone!
I tell everyone about Canva, thanks for sharing it with me!

      • March 29, 2018 / 7:37 am

So while I’m all for support, especially on instagram, where the algorithm isn’t chronological, I also have to be sure to support my favorites first! I usually follow only what I’m allowed to handle like yours ๐Ÿ™‚ x

I’ve heard of VSCO a lot, but haven’t used it yet. I mostly edit photos on my computer rather than my phone. I love Canva though!

I love how quick and easy it is to edit from my phone, especially since I was using mostly my Android to take all my blog photos until recently. Computer is good too, I wouldn’t know which program to use to start though. What do you use?

      • March 28, 2018 / 8:43 pm

Since I’ve been using my DSLR I’ve switched to my computer. I use Photoscape. I think that’s what it’s called. Its pretty good for a free photo editing software. I’m interested in finding and trying other ones too ๐Ÿ™‚

Thanks for all of the tips! I’ve heard so much about Canva – I really need to look into it!

YES, VSCO is amazing. It’s what I use to filter all of my pictures as well so they look cohesive (ish).

Dang, I need to download Unfollowers. It’s SO annoying when people follow you so that you (might) follow back, and then immediately unfollow.

I use two apps similar to Preview (one for my blogging account and one for my calligraphy account because you can only have one account on each of the apps) – they’re called Planoly and UNUM. I’ll also have to try Preview to see if I like it better than the ones I’m using now!

It’s so easy to use! I find it more difficult to build from scratch in Canva than use the templates but the templates are pretty good.
I don’t know what I’d do without VSCO!
I’ll have to check out those 2 apps and try them out, I never know which ones to download form the app store lol

      • March 28, 2018 / 8:01 pm

Re: not knowing which ones to download, I feel ya! I usually go with the one(s) with the most downloads, haha.
