Hello everyone, welcome back to my blog! Today’s post is my top apps for blogging & instagram. When I first got started I had no idea where to start and some of these apps I only discovered recently. I wanted to share what I’ve learned about blogging/instagraming friendly apps in two years! Let’s get started…
#1 – Canva
I learned about Canva from Melina from Melinaelisa. This program is seriously a game changer! I use it to make all of my featured images and the free templates are actually pretty good to build off of. With Canva you can create logos, banners, advertisement images, photo collages and more in your free account! Canva has it’s own free & paid stock images to choose from. There’s a Canva app but I usually use the website.
#2 – Phonto
I use Phonto to watermark all my images before uploading them to my blog. There’s a large selection of fonts you can use and you an customize the location, tilt, size, and colour of the text.
I haven’t found an app that I love for editing photos more than I love VSCO. There’s a large selection of filters you can use as well as customization options all on your phone. I believe it also has a social aspect where you can save photos to an online gallery and share with others but I never use that feature. I love that I can copy an editing preset from one photo to the next so all my images have the same look & feel.
Airbrush is probably the easiest photoshop-like editing app that I’ve found. I was using the Airbrush filters on my flatlays at one point but then I found VSCO. I like airbrush for it’s acne retouch feature. I have the curse of getting cold sores when I get stressed or run down so I’ll use the acne feature of the app to reduce the redness or size of noticeable coldsores because honestly they’re embarrassing for me.
Airbrush also has a whole bunch of other features like concealer, smoothness, makeup (yes, it will put fake makeup on you if you wish). It can even change the size of your jaw, nose, lips, etc. with the Sculpt function *Disclaimer: I NEVER change the proportions of my face or edit makeup onto my skin in my blog or instagram photos! The face you see is my real face.
If you’ve tried to grow an account on Instagram you’ve probably been follow-unfollowed. This is where an account will follow you so that you’ll see their account, follow back, and then they immediately unfollow their new followers. It’s a sad reality of instagram, but if you’re like me and feel rather betrayed when you get follow-unfollowed — There’s an app for that!
There are many actually, I use Unfollowers for Instagram. It shows me who doesn’t follow back, who has recently unfollowed, who my mutual followers are, who I don’t follow back as well as ghost followers (people that follow but don’t engage with my content). I really only worry about the unfollower function though!
I recently started using Preview and it’s a lifesaver for me planning my Instagram grid. You can connect it to your instagram feed and it will load the images you already have in a preview window and then you can add and arrange your next images to see how they fit together. You can also schedule your posts from Preview. I used to upload to instagram and immediately regret how the photo posted looked beside the last picture so now I have an idea of how things will fit together.
Do you use any of these apps, or did I miss any of your favourites?
