Hey everyone! I’m finally reviewing the mystery moisturizer I’ve been raving about since March! As part of Elle Canada’s Grand Prix I was sent a few products to blind test. I had NO idea what most of them were. All I knew was that out of the four day creams I tested out this one was by far my favourite. It’s that good! Now that my blind reviews have been submitted I was able to pry off the labels and find out what it was I’ve been loving for the last two months! Turns out my favourite product is the Neutrogena Hydro Boost Gel Cream moisturizer.
Neutrogena Hydro Boost Gel Cream Moisturizer Review
Neutrogena Hydro Boost for extra dry skin retails for approximately $25CAD for 47ml of product and can be found at Shoppers Drug Mart, Well.ca, etc. There us also a formulation for normal to dry skin. Hydro Boost claims to absorb super quickly and lock in all day hydration. It contains hyaluronic acid, and is oil free.
Smell & Texture
Hydro Boost Gel Cream Moisturizer doesn’t really have much of a smell. It’s almost scentless, with the formula having a mild medicinal smell. Hydro Boost Gel Cream doesn’t have any added fragrance so it would be good if you are sensitive to smells.
The texture is in between a cream and gel consistency. It’s incredibly light on my skin and applies beautifully. I only need a quarter sized dollop to coat my entire face and neck, so there is none of that tugging you get from applying thicker moisturizers.
Neutrogena Hydro Boost Gel Cream Moisturizer absorbs very quickly into my skin. This Gel Cream formula somehow manages to be lightweight, quick absorbing, and extremely hydrating. My dry skin was soothed almost immediately, and the feeling lasted my entire day without my skin getting greasy.
I struggle with dry patches on my nose and cheeks most winters. After a single week of use my dry patches were eliminated! I was shocked. Normally moisturizers will lessen the look of dry spots on my face but never causes them to completely disappear! When I moved on to test other moisturizers for Elle the dry patches came back, so I know that Hydro Boost was totally meant for me.
The only thing preventing me from declaring Neutrogena Hydro Boost Gel Cream my new holy grail moisturizer is the fact that it doesn’t contain any SPF. That’s extremely important to me, especially in the Summer so I do wish this contained sun protection. Luckily I can pair it with an SPF BB cream. I’m definitely going to be repurchasing this next winter when the air gets dry again!
