Not Feeling it… September Anti-Haul

Hey everyone! How are you guys doing? We’ve had such a lovely Summer in our new house, and have had so much fun decorating for Fall. Even though the air is starting to get cooler I have two trips booked to warmer places, so it’s all good!

I’ve booked flights for both Thailand and Hawaii so my credit card bill is looking a little scary. We also paid our home insurance which wasn’t cheap, so we’re going to be cutting back on the spending. I’m making a household cleaning & grocery shopping chart so that we don’t go overboard with little purchases here and there anymore.

I thought September would be the perfect time for another anti-haul. Good thing there are a lot of new releases that haven’t excited me at all…

ColourPop So Jaded Palette Kathleen Lights

Kathleen Lights x Colourpop So Jaded Mega Palette

I don’t know about you guys but I’m really not into giant palettes. I confirmed this when I picked up the Emily The Wants Palette and Morphe Boss Mood Palettes in the last year and I never reached for them after my reviews.

Giant palettes are overwhelming. I love ColourPop’s 12 pan palettes, they’re the perfect size. When I want Mauve I reach for Give It To Me Straight. If I feel neutral my go to is the Double Entendre. If I want Spring vibes it’s the Sweet Talk Palette.

The So Jaded palette is so big that all of the shades look like a giant random jumble to me. I’m sure that you could create a variety of interesting & beautiful looks with it but I just can’t be bothered to stretch my creativity that far.

I love Kathleen Lights, but these mega palettes won’t ever end up in my shopping cart because I know I won’t reach for them.

ColourPop Haul

While we’re on the topic of ColourPop…

I’m actually hating CP’s website right now. Have you noticed how GIANT all the photos are? I use a 13″ macbook pro and it’s an absolute headache navigating their site now. It’s clunky as hell. STAP IT please.

I also hate how there are so many things that I can’t easily navigate the menus anymore. Instead of navigating directly through the dropdown menu to the product type I want I now have to go to a subcategory and navigate the rest of the way with the overhead menu on that page. Not smooth ColourPop, not smooth.

ColourPop Whatever Palette

ColourPop Whatever Palette

I stopped writing Break It Down posts for collections I’m not excited about. I’m tired of the exact same lipsticks and eyeshadow shades right now, and the the Whatever collection is actually very… whatever. Like I don’t even care anymore. I know ColourPop posts perform well on my blog but I can’t even.

There are too many things, and they haven’t felt unique or special to me lately so I don’t want to waste my time & cash on them. ColourPop does a lot of things really well, for instance the Lippie Tint Crayons that just came out are amazing. But I wish they would pace themselves.

Urban Decay Honey Palette

Urban Decay Naked Honey Collection

The new Naked Honey Palette looks so uninspiring to me! I guess I already got my yellow fix with my Sydney Grace Co Lemon Creme shade and the ColourPop Uh-Huh Honey Palette, because I look at the Naked Honey palette and I think, that’s it? There isn’t even a true honey shade!

They’ve since expanded the collection to include a Honey scented all-nighter setting spray, honey vice lipsticks and a primer potion, plus a mini honey palette. Meh…

KKW X Winnie

KKW x Winnie Collection

First of all, doesn’t the palette look like a ColourPop palette!? The packaging is so similar, but with a $49 price tag. Are you kidding me? 12 shades for $49 in a ColourPop palette? UP YOUR PACKAGING if you want to charge that much. I don’t support the Kardashians out of principal, I’ve never spent money on their products and I don’t intend to start doing so now. The KKW x Winnie Collection gets a NOPE from me.

Shuuemura x Pokemon collection

As a 90’s child I love Pokemon. The games are nostalgic to me and I grinned through the entire Detective Pikachu movie, even when it got a little weird.

This collection is SO disappointing to me! The packaging is stunning, but absolutely NONE of the shades in the palettes look like the Pikachu on the front. There should be a yellow, a red and a black, not this basic as hell neutral palette. As a neutral palette I’m sure it’s quite nice, but there’s nothing about it that says “Pokemon” to me.

Sadness. That is all.

Becca Pop Goes The Glow

Becca Cosmetics Pop Goes The Glow Face & Eye Palette

I love Becca Cosmetics so much, but here’s the thing: This packaging is so wasteful! The material could be reduced by about 1/3 if they didn’t lay out the shades so stupidly. I hate when brands arrange their eyeshadow pans in weird ways instead of stacking them. This palette could easily be smaller!

I’m also tired of them regurgitating Champagne Pop. I get it, it was a best seller and you want to capitalize on that, but I’m tired of the same thing over and over. There’s no need to release this right after their Champagne Pop collection was re-released…

Products I’m excited for

To avoid being entirely negative I want to share three things that I’m actually excited about, even if I can’t afford to buy them right now.

Dominique Cosmetics Celestial Storm Palette

Dominique Cosmetics Celestial Palette

It’s GORGEOUS. So many colours, so Spacey! I just picked up the Latte Palette and I’m in love with it. The mattes are so buttery and smooth, despite having quite a bit of kick up in the pan. The shimmers are more foiled than shimmery which I personally love, it’s nice to not have sparkles all over my face!

If I had the money I would pick up this palette right meow.

Lime Crime Venus Immortalis

I probably won’t ever purchase this palette but the cool tones are super refreshing after seeing 30 variations of the same warm toned palette from every other brand. I can already picture a ton of looks I’d love to do with this one. I’d love to see more cool toned palettes on the market!

What are you anti-hauling this September?

Thanks for reading! Let me know if you are planning on getting any of these products or if you’re on the same page about these products. Please keep in mind that I am not saying that any of these products are “bad” or that you shouldn’t buy them. These products don’t appeal to me but we’re all different individuals and there is nothing wrong with liking something that someone else doesn’t, and vice versa. Happy Monday loves x

8 Products on my Fall Anti-Haul List

I completely agree with big palettes being overwhelming, I find that I’ve just left mine in a drawer and the ones that get used most often are the little ones. Shame the KKW palette is so expensive.. sometimes makes me wonder if celebs just pluck a number and slap it on the box hoping that people will spend on it because it has their face on it. Honestly ridiculous. xx

    • September 27, 2019 / 11:02 pm

Same here! I always use my 9 and 12 pan palettes, but rarely the larger ones.

Yeah I have no idea how that works, but could be. I wondered that when Too faced came out with a Madonna tour collection. Like did she even know her face was on it? 😂

  2. September 24, 2019 / 9:09 am

I think the KL palette looks beautiful but you know me, upon closer inspection I noticed I’m only into a few shades that really pop out at me, and the rest I dont care about it so for me that’d be a waste lol. But you’re right, I dont reach for big palettes either. Some tend to have similar shades that can be found in smaller palettes.
Havent been to their site in a while but that sounds terrible..
I’m honestly really sick of CP releasing shit so often, like we get it, but they look desperate lol. And yes, everything they have been releasing looks like something they have released thanks…
Haha that UD honey palette doesnt look like much. Doesnt even feel like it represents its name very well omg 🤣
And ugh the Kardashians…again…eh their makeup doesnt look inspiring, like ever. Even if its supposedly great quality I got products I like better than that haha
Wtf! That pokemon collection looks so bleh! Does not do Pokemon any justice and stop it with the “pokemon” collection, that’s just pikachu lol. Oh my gosh, they had potential and they totally ruined it. Same with Ipsy and the Tetris Collection. Huge disappointments.
Lol does that Becca palette really have the champagne pop highlighter?? 🤣🤣🤣 are they dumb? Would people not have it already? Why buy it again but with eyeshadows instead? Haha wow
I feel so negative right now let me know if I went overboard lololol
And that LimeCrime palette is definitely a breath of fresh air and for once something looks semi unique but I probably would never buy it. The DC palette however….LOVE it! I would love to be able go buy that one as well especially because I dont have any palettes of hers. I want to have at least one and this one feels like its it.

    • September 27, 2019 / 10:46 pm

The shades look nice, I don’t feel super inspired looking at it though. 12 pan palettes are my favorite!

I think we all need a break from ColourPop. Nobody needs to place an order every single week, and it bothers me that a lot of YouTubers I used to watch daily now seem to focus only on ColourPop. There are other fish in the sea!

I don’t think I’ll ever give the Kardashians my money! I have one Kylie lipstick that I won, but it’s not really spectacular or anything.

I would expect super saturated colors from a pokemon collection! Why make a collection that’s supposedly “pokemon” without keeping any of the characteristics? I don’t get it.

I completely agree! If you have champagne pop you wouldn’t need this, they need to come out with something different.

No way, I feel the same way 😂😂

Doesn’t that DC palette look amazing!? The colors are so fun!

      • September 29, 2019 / 9:51 pm

I think the 12 pan palettes are more manageable in my opinion. And yeah, same, like we don’t need a review of every single palette, we already know the formula is good. Unless they release something like COMPLETELY NEW, never been seen, new formula, that kind of stuff, then I’m all for it.
YES! Exactly, Pokemon is a LOT of characters, many bold colors, bright, etc. That collection is boring. LOL

        • October 4, 2019 / 3:47 pm

Yes exactly. Or if the colors are really interesting it’s nice to see some looks, but the formula doesn’t change much.

We need a real pokemon collection!

  3. September 24, 2019 / 7:04 am

Totally agree about huge palettes, I just don’t prefer them over the smaller ones. For me, they are a bit intimidating & not easy to hold up when using lol. I don’t understand the CP Whatever palette. It looks like one they’ve already done before… & the UD one is weird for not even having a true honey shade… Kim could have totally came up with way better packaging for her price tag! Agreed! & aw yeah, the Pikachu stuff is super cute, but the shades in the palette… ??? Lol.

The DC palette is freakin’ gorge!! Oh my gosh. I loved her lipgloss so I’d def love to try her eyeshadow. Have you done a review on the Latte palette? I’d love to read it, if you have. ♡

Hope you have the best times in Thailand & Hawaii! ♡

    • September 27, 2019 / 10:39 pm

Oh my gosh yes, good point. I don’t need my arm getting sore from holding up a giant palette!

I totally have the whatever shades already, same with the California love palette. I just haven’t wanted anything they’ve put out lately.

KKW beauty is so expensive, they need better packaging!

My latte palette review will be up on Monday! It’s such a nice formula 😊

      Thank you!!

  4. September 18, 2019 / 12:30 pm

I actually got the so jaded palette, and really like it! It’s not as big as I thought it was going to be, which i’m pleased about. I’ve only had the chance to use it once, and I find the formulas beautiful. While I”m not a big fan of big palettes, I knew that I love Kathleen, and this palette’s colors are beautiful and unique. Like you said about the so whatever palette, While I love the colors, I’ve seen it a million times before, and own hundreds of shades like it! As of now I’m not purchasing other products until I run out of some things. So I’m finally running out of three foundations at the same time, which I’m happy about. I’m excited to try something new! It takes me so long to actually run out of foundations, that I get so excited when I do! I have so many in my drawer, so I’ve been on a roll trying to finish up as many as possible! Great post xxx

I’m glad you like it! Is it about the same size as the Morphe palettes, or a little smaller? I would have no idea where to store another giant palette! I do love kathleen though and I’m sure that the quality is amazing.
That’s great when you finally finish some products you’ve been working on for a while! Especially foundation, I feel like it always takes months and months to finish one bottle. What do you think you’ll try next?
      Thanks for reading! x

  5. September 18, 2019 / 11:48 am

I can’t lie, I rarely ever see a palette that interests me anymore. It’s always the same kind of colours. Plus Colorpop I find hit or miss. UD is the most mundane brand of all for me! X

Oh I didn’t know Lime Crime had a new Venus palette! How did I not know that?! I only buy Venus eyeshadow palettes. I just purchased their Venus XL 2, and love it as much as I love the other Venus palettes. They are simply the best there is. ColourPop always gets me with their packaging, it’s gorgeous. But their shadows just never really wow me. I don’t know why, I am the minority there LOL. I am 100% with you on the wasteful packaging and colours that are over-used. But at least it makes it easy not to buy something because I already have it! LOL. I’m so over the mass over consumption of beauty products to begin with.
Yay for Thailand! How exciting! I can’t wait to go there. We’re planning a trip next year.

    • September 23, 2019 / 12:53 am

The new Venus palette looks so unique! The XL 2 is also on my wishlist, I love all those mossy green tones!
I love ColourPop’s eyeshadow formula normally, except their pressed glitters but I completely get that not everyone feels the same way about it. If you don’t love it then you definitely don’t need every single new release!
I can’t wait for some travel! It will be amazing to disconnect for a while and see a new part of the world. And how exciting that you’re planning a trip too! Travel is the one expense I never regret. I hope you have an amazing time!
      Thanks for reading x

  7. September 17, 2019 / 12:58 pm

I think the Kathleen Lights x Colourpop palette looks really pretty but I agree, I got my first Morphe palette recently and I literally have no where to put it. 🤷🏼‍♀️ It’s so overwhelming trying to choose shades from a massive palette too. When the Naked Honey first came out I really liked it, but the more I looked at it the more uninspired I was. 😕 The shades are all way to similar and there’s only one that really jumps out. I’m getting so bored of every palette release looking the same, warm tones, berry tones, super bright shades, nothing really stands out or gets me feeling super excited about it. Both the Celestials palette and Venus Immortals palettes look really pretty and unique, I’m desperate for more cool toned palettes to be released! I love the fact that the Venus Immortals palette glows in the dark too! 😍

    • September 22, 2019 / 10:43 pm

I never reach for my Morphe palette! And on the rare occasions where I do I only use the neutral shades, go figure!
The honey palette is way too monochromatic, there isn’t a lot of variety there.
I forgot that the Venus Immortalis glows in the dark! That’s so cool!

  8. September 17, 2019 / 1:23 am

The Whatever palette is a bit meh for me too, burgundy shades are done to death and the colours aren’t revolutionary! The mini honey palette looks nicer than Naked Honey but that one definitely doesn’t have any shades resembling honey. I don’t get the hype around Champagne pop either, not everyone can wear it. Granted I haven’t swatched or tried it and it may be really pretty but promote other shades too 😊 love to see what others aren’t big fans of haha

    • September 22, 2019 / 10:26 pm

I agree! Red/burgundy shades make me look sick so I never wear them.
The mini honey palette could be cute too, but I guess since I have the Uh-Huh Honey from ColourPop I don’t especially need it.
Plus a lot of the people who love champagne pop probably already have it!

  9. September 16, 2019 / 6:47 pm

Ooh I really want that Celestial palette and even the Lime Crime palette interests me too . I love the cool greys and silvers .

    • September 22, 2019 / 10:25 pm

The cool toned shades are so interesting to me! And the celestial palette actually inspires me, unlike most things on the market right now. Thanks for reading! x

  10. September 16, 2019 / 6:24 pm

I feel the same way about the UD Naked Honey Palette. In fact, none of the Naked Palettes have inspired me since the Naked 3. I would never get the new Kathleen Lights CP collab either; while I really like the shades the size is so impractical!

    • September 22, 2019 / 10:24 pm

I haven’t really wanted any of the naked palettes either, now that you mention it! Born to Run yes, Naked palettes No.
She could have broken that palette up into 4 little palettes and I might have been interested in one or two. But it’s definitely too big as is!

      • September 23, 2019 / 1:50 pm

Born to Run was awesome and I need to give it more love in my collection! I’ve never understood selling large 25+ or 30+ palettes direct to consumers; I guess there is a market for everything but I just don’t get it myself. Sell those to the pros, and give us something more well-edited please!

  11. September 16, 2019 / 5:50 pm

I just feel like colourpop churns our product too fast. I feel like they’d do so much better if they just slowed it down a bit and were more thoughtful with their products instead of barfing them up every time a new possible trend hits.

Your feelings about the Becca champagne pop are similar to my feelings towards NARS orgasm. I feel like NARS are constantly releasing collections that center around orgasm and I just want to
    Tell them to move on!

    • September 22, 2019 / 10:22 pm

I completely agree. There are so many products that seem to have been thrown together and not thought out well. They even renamed the lippie tints to “lip crayons” a few weeks after release. Like slow down and choose the right name in the first place!

Yes! Nars could definitely benefit from something new

  12. September 16, 2019 / 4:24 pm

Oohh I thought I was the only one who doesn’t like CP’s website recently, I thought I was just being picky. Totally agree with you. Maybe it’s not that hard to navigate, but it’s definitely not comfortable. And about So Jaded palette, color story-wise tbh it’s really calling my name. It’s already in my cart now, and if on their next sale I’m still feeling it, I think I might pick it up 🤔 I never had a giant palette before, so if this would be my first one, I thought why not picking up from the brand/formula I’m familiar with 😊 And the whatever palette is so whatever just like you said. Can’t be bothered to pick it up. I know it would look pretty and no question on CP’s formula, but I think I can easily dupe ALL the shades on that palette with my collection. And I’m also liking DC’s celestial palette! I’m kinda feel like it’s the small and less overwhelming version of So Jaded palette because some shades look similar to the ones on So Jaded. If it’s a little bit affordable like CP, I think I would consider picking it up. So sorry for the LOONGG comment! It’s nice to discuss this anti-haul thing! Have a nice day, Cleia! ☀

    • September 22, 2019 / 10:20 pm

      It’s so clunky now!! I’m not a fan 😭
If you love the colors then go for it! I love everything Kathleen has put out so far, I just know I’d be overwhelmed with the colors.

I wish the DC palettes weren’t so expensive, I have the latte palette and the formula IS god, but it’s pricey. The celestial colors are beautiful though 😍
Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts! I’m always happy to hear from you 🙂 Have a great week!
